Really enjoyed this - felt like it was my first time again even with the shaky hands. Here is some quick tips: 1. Study some free poker range charts, you can check out Jonathan Little for free ones 2. Don't buy in for 60$ it's a tell to some of the other players and can target you as scared money, Buy in for at least 150 big blinds 3. Start your preflop raises higher - start with 10$ and avoid going lower than 8$ - increase it the more limpers there are 4. If someone raises you on the turn or river - at these stakes, just fold unless you have a set or better (on clean boards). Keep it up man, you will get there!

Another suggestion. Several of the poker training sites have free hand range charts. The first step to becoming a winning player is understanding hand ranges and knowing at which positions each hand becomes worthwhile to call/raise. (If you already have a good grasp of this, that's great. I mention it because of how you played JJ and AK. 😁)

Nice vlog.. you got a sub... play as much as you can... you will find it's the same crowd on a daily basis at these kinda places. You will get to know the players, how they play and relax. Then study study study the game. Also, you need a friend that plays for a living. Someone to bounce hands off of post game. Someone who understands the game at a higher level than you. Nothing makes your game get better faster than having someone to help with your game who really understands the game. Good luck. Looking forward to future games. I might even run into you some day. Good for you Jeremy! Nice first time. I could tell you were nervous. You have some cheap poker out there. Up here in the Northeast, the usual pre-flop raise (in 1-2 NL) is to $12 with a three-bet of $25 or $30. You really need to get a feel for the other players at the table. I saw a lot of pre-flop raises with unsuited, unconnected face cards. Some even worse hands than that. I was left wondering what these guys thought they were doing? After a while of figuring out the table (and losing a $100 hand), I wound up taking a few good hands and walking out with an extra couple hundred dollars. :)

Cool video man! You should watch the Blackrain79 course so you can improve. You scared everyone off the pot on the AKo on the flop and over played your JJ pre. K5o is too weak to play, and you could of took down the pot with AQo wirh a standard c-bet. You want to coming into the pot with a raise high enough that you only get one caller. Play tighter from Early positions, and don't go after every draw. If you raise to lets say $8 and c-bet the flop 1/2 pot and get a fold you got $10.5 vs one opponent vs limping in and getting 4 callers and c-betting as now there's way higher risk to you that you're not gonna win the hand and they'll catch something crazy like a 72o 2 pair and beat your hand as strong as AA. 1) Anytime you hear "I guess I'll go all in." and they seem bummed, or say "ok, I need to go home anyways."- You're probably behind. 2) NEVER play live like you do online. They aren't the same. 3) Learn to fold 80% of hands, be patient. 4) A/K preflop is rarely worth an all-in in a cash game.

I'm comfortable playing online for the most part, but never played a live table game and I'm actually pretty nervous to give it a try....especially when I start hearing foreign terminology like limp or nut bust(what are we talking about here...lol). You should always chop the blinds if given the option. As soon as the flop is dealt, they pull out the rake. You are always going to average losing money in the blinds; skip as many as you can.

poker, dam guess im watching your vlog more then. I started playing poker after craps, I was playing craps alots too when you started your craps games videos. After gambling for many years I think poker can be a better game because more personal decision making and if you lose, you dont feel too bad and can learn from it. good luck out there.

tight is right. don't play fancy or bluff. most people don't bluff. position is everything. tighten your range with shortstack.

Best book for you to read is Mastering Small Stakes No Limit Hold 'Em, by far. You get practical advice based on theory, but it's not overly complex. Then Excelling at Tough No-Limit Hold'em Games. After you have digested all of the concepts in those 2 books, go for Applications of No-Limit Hold em by Matthew Janda and Modern Poker Theory by Michael Acevedo. Those two (especially MPT) are very complex.

I think you could 4bet fold JJs. However, that call means you really likely don't have KK, QQ, AK which makes your 4 bet more vulnerable Also, when 100BB or shorter, you really want to aggressively try to get all the money in preflop with AK and get fold equity or light calls. I like to trap with AA and AQ sometimes

First action after the flop is "bet", not "raise".

bro don't worry about the JJ hand ..with 50 BBs you are always getting it all in pre flop there just unlucky the guy shows up with KK...Dan Harrington's Cash games books are good if you are just starting out in Live no limit..

I'm going to give it to you straight: It wasn't a very good vlog at all. However, that is understandable as you are new to live poker. First off if you've watched other vloggers which you say you have then you should know proper terminology such as a bet after the flop with no prior action is a bet or lead out and not a raise. Also, when you have 3 to a straight or flush after the flop, you have a back door draw. And of course you need to have accurate hand histories. As for results, if you want to win at those stakes, play ABC poker which generally speaking will not lead to an interesting vlog. So you have to decide if you want to be a vloggers who's playing poker for content or if you want to really become a pro poker player who's also vlogging the experience. Poker school gets expensive. Pick up all the information from your losing hands on what not to do. Log that info, it's more important to you than the things that you should do. The tax payers won't pay back your student loans on this one.

Okay, so... first of all thanks for creating content and congratulations for putting yourself out there and having a goal. I want you to go right away and watch the video "Can I Make Money Playing Poker" by Alec Torelli. If you want to improve as quickly as possible you need to start treating yourself as a cognitive athlete, meaning organizing your life around peak mental performance. You will be able to learn the mechanics of the game, provided that your lifestyle and your living arrangement provide you with the resources to put in long periods of 'flow' state in order to soak up the material that there is. Elite performers don't necessarily have something you don't; often times they lack something that you have. A buzzing phone, irritating friends, a home office full of clutter, a drinking problem, video games, etc. etc. Enforce a zone of absolute quiet around your study time and around your sleep. At this point there is kind of too much poker information and you can study bad material or you can study something that's too far above your level; to learn it needs to be accessible to where you are right now. You are very new so you will likely learn something from anything you read. I have read dozens of poker books and my favorite author is Ed Miller, and specifically his book 'The Course.' And google pokerlistings.com "how to not suck at poker" (No offense.) As with any high-functioning professional, you need to be concerned more with your system and your process than your results. You need to be driven to understand spots and improve, and more or less indifferent to the outcome of an individual hand. You will get there. A good mental trick/experiment to do is imagine that you had already been crushing the biggest games in the world for years, and then you suddenly hit your head and lost your poker process/knowledge, but you still retained vague memories of winning. Assume you also lost most of your money somehow. What would you do? Would you grind $1/$2 for months or years hoping to 'build up a roll?' No. You would immediately focus all of your time and money on re-capturing the skills you had, because you know deep down that there is a way to do it and why bother grinding out a small living with a small edge when you could be making yacht money? Such a person would invest as much as they could, as fast as they could, in coaching/training/study, to get back to the level they knew they were capable of. The only difference between that person and you is that he knows he can do these things, because he did, and you don't. So if you think coaching is something you want to do, and you can physically afford it, then get it fast. Don't try to beat 1/2 and then beat 3/5 and THEN get a coach. Big waste of time. The amount of money you'll eventually be playing could swallow up all the 1/2 pots in your life in a single hand. There is no fundamental difference between the winning guys on HCL and you, only difference is how quickly and efficiently you do the work. If you need a training dojo, low-stakes zoom games are the best solution because you're hit with thousands of decisions every hour, whereas live poker is excruciatingly slow. (But you need a HUD if the site allows one, I use holdem manager 3.) Experience has value but you get way more of it way faster online. There's a guy called Blake Eastman who runs a live tells program that I recommend, but at your level, do not worry about that for now. Watch Bart Hanson's 'Crush live poker' podcasts and you will very quickly improve. Let me warn you about one other thing: low-stakes live rake. Figure out the rake structure of the casino you're playing in. If she's taking a $6 dead drop out of the pot every hand like they do in los angeles $1/$2 and she's only letting you buy in for 40 bigs, that's a problem. That game may be unbeatable or barely beatable if there are a lot of fish. Don't get stuck trying to beat unbeatable games. If you tell me what the structure is I will tell you if it is beatable. Very brutal game. Very brutal lifestyle. See how it goes part-time first.
