Hi Mindah, You have created great contents about Buddhism. If you have a Patreon page then people can support you to make more youtube videos, or you can share the contents through the patreon page too. I just wanted to make you aware about it. However, I made this video about Black Holes & Galaxies In Buddhism With Shape Of The Earth & Size Of Atoms: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qN6ohMmE1r6okn0.html If you have time, you can check it out. Maybe few months later I'll join with your membership site too. I'll watch all your KZfaq videos first and then I really hope to learn more about Buddhism from you. Thank you so much, Kind Regards, Suresh

The Dhamma should never be locked behind a wall of money. It should be free and you ask for donations to maintain the site. I would be happy to donate but only if the Dhamma is free to those who can not pay.

Very true. Also, seems to violate right livelihood, as it is basically taking advantage of vulnerable and misguided people (and if the site owner cannot see that, they have no business 'attempting' to guide others until they know the 'way' themselves.)

being a Buddhist i feel its wrong to charge people to follow the noble path.. i understand one needs to be financially viable to make things possible but then again being financially able was not the the purpose of buddha also.. either ways i love your videos.. and hope you once a while keep posting on youtube also.. thanks for such insightful knowledge of buddhism

The bee has to search for the nectar. And only just stumbled or more like bumbled, ha ha, onto your humongous teachings recently. Having been a student of Rimpoche Lama Choedak since around 2000. Who only makes pilgrimages to our C.Q. area occasionally. And believe me, folks are more than happy to pay for the retreats and his varied Tibetan Dharma teachings. Your yearly subscription roughly equivalent to a daily in house teaching. As air fares, etc have to be covered. As you know Rimpoche has a a very eloquent command of the English language. With his Tinglish (Tibetan English). As you said, you have structured your teachings. You have helped me revise Rimpoches in house teachings and filled in gaps. With your dulcet Aussie tones, and truly an expression of inner beauty that radiates outwards. Yourself having obviously been a student of Lama Choedak. And know personally that they come straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. Thus feel to be one of the lucky ones, due to these past teachings that have successfully guided me though life for the last couple of decades or more.

Thank you for making this site. I have been wondering, since I'm kinda new to buddhism and there is only one Buddhist temple in the area where I live, if I need to go to a temple or can practice on my own.
@EnthusiasticBuddhist108

I think it makes a big difference if you can find a teacher who can help guide you in the theory and practices in the beginning (to help you gain clarity and clear away confusion). But having access to only one temple nearby can certainly limit your ability to find a teacher. I know I struggled to find a teacher in my hometown. Sometimes temples don't have English-speaking teachers or translators, and you might not feel connected with the particular Buddhist tradition being practiced there. So in essence, everyone needs a guide in the beginning, and if you cannot find someone nearby, then the online world is the next best place to look. :)

Hello, Mindah. Do you know Insight Timer? It's an amazing meditation social network app. You could give it a try. You can have your profile and upload any kinds of audios: talks, music, nature sounds, bineural beats, prayers, etc. It's already popular with users from all over the world. It would be lovely to have you there and be able to access your material there too. Namaste.

I appreciate the effort. But can't help but feel like there are other, perhaps even better options out there for free. There is always some amount of controversy when someone wants to capitalize on the dhamma, or on spiritual teachings in general. On one hand when someone works on something one should expect to pay for the services. But on the other hand, the Buddha gave his teachings for free to all people. Thus I have mixed feelings about this. Perhaps you can explain what the money is for and address your reasoning for capitalizing on something that was initally meant to be free. It would be much appreciated, metta!

Thanks for asking. Although it takes me weeks to create videos (the research, filming and editing), I’m not looking to be compensated for these efforts, as it brings me so much joy to create these. What a small membership fee will allow is for me to pay for all the expenses that arises from having a website, such as web developer fees, assistants, security and storage costs (to name just a few). Everything in the online space has costs and unfortunately I can’t compensate others with my enthusiasm! LOL The site itself has arisen out of others expressing a need for the teachings to be presented in a more structured way, making it easier to find relevant material, hence why I have created the “Series” within my site. I wanted to create a place that captured the enthusiasm I have for the Buddha’s teachings and inspired and motivated people to practice. When I set about creating the site, I wasn’t aware of other platforms where I could present my video teachings in a way that they are presented on my site. So I didn’t have other alternatives. To say the Buddha taught for free - I wish I had wealthy kings and patrons providing me with a roof over my head, medicine and clothing! Honestly, I’m not in this to be rich. LOL I just want to provide a service I know will benefit people and not have the stress of how I can possibly pay all my suppliers. I hope this helps to clarify my feeling and hopes about this site.

This is a very legitimate question to ask to anyone trying to capitalize on Buddhism. However, if I may, I'd like to give my input on this. It is not easy to make a video, there is research involved, equipment cost, it's time consuming, there's an editing process, etc. While it's true that she could have just opened an online bank account to accept donations the same way monks/nuns accept donations and alms, what Mindah is charging is peanuts considering the amount of work that has obviously been put into this project. Have you taken a look at the members' site? There is a lot of important information there and a lot of great resources and she's also moderating an online community on facebook. Anyway, I see the membership fee more as a donation for the fantastic work that she's doing spreading the Dhamma.
