Hey a new intro! Should be a fun project and i would guess its like driving an Army HEMTT, except those are 8x8s but you sit over the front wheels and they are a blast to drive.

The first fire call I ever responded to I was in the back canopy cab seat of a Ford C8000/Grumman. Our particular engine was yellow in color, so it was sometimes referred to as the "ass kickin', fire chicken". Also, if that water pump can still pump its rated capacity, you may be looking at some good money for it. A new, modern fire pump is $20K+.

Driving a Ford C cab is on my bucket list. I am retiring in March. Would it be OK for me to stop by for a visit and drive your rig around the parking lot a little? These trucks were omnipresent when I was a lot younger.

I have an 88 model like yours. I saw where you removed the tank. What is your plan to remove the pump? It looks like the pump assembly holds up the driveshaft.

When you connect a trailer they go by combination weight(truck plus trailer) so lookout.

you can find trucks like this for a good price ,but if it has air-brakes ,you need a CDL for air-brakes and GVW over 25,9k ,and try to find insurance
