The raw recording was a tinge muddy and lacked crisp highs, but those issues were resolved well with good FX usage. It's clean audio, and that's the critical part.

Notebooks are basically portable computronium with a screen, a keyboard, and a mouse. To be complete, this one just needs a keyboard and a mouse. (Apple is renowned for having some of the worst keyboards and touchpads in the world, and insists that it's a feature instead of a bug) (edit: it seems Apple finally admitted there was a problem, and switched its most recent notebooks to a more standard key mechanism... so, assuming the keys are finally usable, that just leaves the conspicuously bad clickpad)

@@andrewpappas9311 no its a sentence structure issue, ill break it down, "I love that the raw audio from Miracle from the latest First of October album (which was awesome btw, been listening to a bunch of the songs on my phone and can't wait for the next album), that honestly just makes the song so much more beautiful in my opinion" which i can simplify to "I love that the raw audio (which was awesome btw), that honestly just makes the song so much more beautiful" you love that the raw audio... presumably does *something*, but you never say *what*. "I love that the raw audio from Miracle from the latest First of October album *is recorded using cheese grater mics*" would be an example completion of the sentence "i love that the x does y, it really makes z" rather than "i love that the x, it really makes z" ps for angry youtube commenters: i am not mad this is not an argument

@neek01
@neek01 2 жыл бұрын
@@quickie17 I've had no issue with most new plugins, even those that don't natively support M1. If they don't, most DAW's have a Rosetta version that does have a bit less performance (which honestly really isn't much. Their emulation is insanely good.) but your older plugins should pretty much work. I bought the "last" gen M1 Macbook Pro with the touch bar, and for me it doesn't nearly match the performance of my PC, but take in mind the current M1 Macbook Pro (2021) is around 4 times better than the old one and the Max version even more. It's definitely better than the majority laptops on the market, so if you don't often have access to your pc, its a good deal. Otherwise i'd still recommend to just get a custom built pc for the money instead (unless you're using a Mac specific DAW).

And it doesn't have to be about anything that would break the bank for most people rather just stuff someone could get pretty easily off amazon or from a website or whatever.

On my 2018 I was very used to the cursor all the sudden being four lines away and here I am type type typing away in the wrong spot. This hasn't happened once so far on the M1. Also...you are now officially the only person in the world who's ever said the trackpad isn't the best thing ever put on a computer! But I get it. Smaller trackpad = less movement. The only thing I am consern is that laptops microphone (mic response) was calculated together with surface it stands on..so maybe that lack of high frequency was caused by holding MBP in other position (on the side and vical holding in hands). You should test also in normal position, let's say with laptop stand on flat surface same as you place laptop for live show or events on the stage and then check that mic quality. I say that because I was also shocked with prolog of that video - sound stright from laptop mic was stuning, but with recording guit+voc not so much.... Sometimes we try to change the way engineers made something but we didn't know whats behind that technology, so let's stop changing things and try to cooperate with gear as it was created :) Cheers

Maybe if you have 4 displays the trackpad real estate becomes an advantage? Keep up the great work! Would love to see an episode focused on connectivity and workflow e.g. how midi/cv/daw can cooperate without becoming cumbersome. Big ups!

100% agree with the trackpad size issue. I honestly prefer a mouse these days, but the trackpad can for sure get in the way.

The laptop sounds a little crunchy. The reverb helps but I can still hear it. But it's way subtle. If I did a blind test I would just think it's a low end dynamic mic. Also the guitar is barely detectable, it's only in the vocals I can tell. Use for anything moderately processed, it's totally passable.

I have been using my 16“ intel macbook pro as field recorder since i got it. Especially with post being a thing i dont see the need of bringing additional stuff with me all the time. Ofc a proper field recorder can have its advantages but seriously my whole mobile setup is my mac and a op1 that since the last firmware update can also function as a audio interface so i got a line in. Also midi keyboard functionality. Now all thats left for me to buy is some proper in ear monitors then the on the go music setup will be completed

I think next step is to compare the mic to a iphone, samsung phones and I'm sure the smart watches will soon have a decent recorder. How long until we see "I made an album on my smart watch"

Think a dynamic eq like would give better life to the mic who actually sound little too compressed RAW in the high end . Btw nice video, compatibility with basic plugin ? Like Arturia fabfilter etc..?

That is amazing, albeit a laptop mic can never top a proper high-end mic with a high-end audio interface like Apollo Twin X or Babyface Pro FS.

Nahhh. The laptop mic is missing a ton of top end. It's a good mic, yeah, but I'd never use it in place of a decent studio mic. Good for a Zoom call, I suppose.

When you were talking and about to lean in forward to the laptop mic at the beginning I legit thought you were talking through a proper mic and were gonna switch to to the laptop mic audio in the video

Bruh - I wasn't paying attention to the video for a second, and completely missed the switch from laptop mics to actual track at 5:01. And I'm listening through my Audio Technica tracking headphones. Insane.
