Nice bit of kit, I used to do some oxyacetylene welding when arc (stick) welding wasn't suitable for small repair jobs - you still can braze, solder and bronze weld though with oxypropane... Have fun!

I love that little torch I need to get a small one like that because I plan on brazing my lathe cutter tips that a learned here how to do.

This type of nozzle is very usefull for oxy propane and I was going to buy some but the shipping to my country was extremely high so I ended up making my own.

Hi Steve - Thanks for the review on the nozzles. Gutted you didn't buy the rest of the kit from us ;) Nice use of the small jam jar. :) Aside from the lighter comment that someone else mentioned, for switching off you can just turn the fuel off first and then the oxy (unless sustained backfire in which it would be oxy first).

Seems like a nice little unit for the home shop. Do you plan on getting a cutting rig? Also, some friendly advice, when shutting down turn the fuel off first then the o2 after, this will prevent the chance of flashback. Cheers

I thought you were using oxygen acetylene? I weld with O2 + C2H2 Which is easier than TIG for fine work. 0.5 steel sheet you need a number1 nozzle, 0.7 number 2, 1mm number 3, and 1.5 up you need a number 5.

Always light with a sparker, not a lighter, if you have a leak it’s too late for your fingers being so close,

Surely that's silver soldering not brazing? Easyflo flux doesn't go up to brazing spelter temperatures. Brazing is using bronze and is above 900 degrees. But I might be wrong. Keep up the good work.

I wonder could you braze cast steel and once done drop it into water to harden it, remove and temper it without effecting the braze?

Hi Steve thanks for the video. I have three questions. Q1 was the torch advertised as a propane/oxy torch or as an acetylene/oxy torch? Q2 what’s the regulator that you have on the propane cylinder, how many Bar? and Q3 what’s it like with as number 1 nozzle? I’ve just purchased a MAPP Gas and Rent free 2 Ltr oxy bottle kit form Flametech (flametech Lite brazing kit) for £410 April 2023 which is expensive but I couldn’t find any other complete rent free solution as an alternative to acetylene. On reflection had I have seen your video before I would have looked more at the propane oxy option. For anyone looking at the Flametech option (refrigeration engineers) be aware that the rent free oxy bottle is from GCE Gas Control Equipment company and the have very little coverage in Wales where I am. I have a 4 hour round trip to replace the oxy and they won’t deliver rent free; you have to collect. The Mapp gas/oxy is almost as good as oxyacetylene, I just wanted something a bit better than the Sievert jeweller’s propane torch that I have been using. If you could answer the 3 questions that would be great Steve. Regards . . . Andy

Thanks for a very informative video. Question...I have heard that oxygen is expensive and doesn't last long. That has prevented me from doing oxy/anything. What do you think?

Hi I am just building a oxy propane set up, I was concerned that I have not got regulator indicator valves on my propane tank. I noticed you have one on oxygen, but like my set up you don't seem to have gauges on your propane. Have you found any problems? I have not lit my set up yet but if , like you, I can not have any gauges I won't worry so much. Any info will be much ly appreciated.

You don’t really need a torch like that for small projects

weldingdirect are a waste of time I paid over the odds for shipping ..They give a day on the site that it well be with me. but I end up on that day getting an email for DHL to say its booked in for pick up .. And all the time I got to say to my customer I'm sorry I can not do your Job.
