I loved hearing the story of how you got the Serissa cutting. It really shows how clip and grow can develop into an amazing tree.

So nice to see you prepare this tree for the show. I must admit that when you mentioned the blue scissors I cringed. I was concerned that you would give the plant a radical haircut. You sure did show some restraint - LOL. So nice to hear the history of this tree. It is a BEAUTY! Even down here in southeast Florida it is considered a difficult to grow bonsai. You definitely have the "green thumb" for this plant.

Really appreciate when you give us the story behind your trees. I would think many of us has at least some trees we got an affection for - not just because it developed well but some special memory like a good friend involved etc. 😊😇

I think the current back would make a very nice front in the next repot! Nice work on this tree, I love seeing it more and more with each video you have on it. PS: hydrogen peroxide is incredibly helpful in managing the green algae on the trunk! Same method you did except with H2O2 instead of water. I use it undiluted with no problem.

I love this tree. Still my favorite. Christmas came early for me! I was able to order a Haws watering can on the Walmart app. I was Pretty surprised, considering I live in Minnesota. It’s a pretty good size to. A bit bigger that the ones Nigel uses. I ordered it thinking for sure I would get a message after a couple days saying I couldn’t get it in the states. But it came! I think I payed about $60.

Also I use compressed air sometimes to blow out any loose leaves and bugs, works a treat for compact trees

Hi Nigel, first I would like to say that you make great videos and your work is inspiring. I would like to ask for your advice regarding my serissa. I cut off the upper part of the trunk, which I then covered with paste. I would like a new branch to grow from the upper part of the cut, but I don't know if it is better to cover the entire upper surface with the paste, or if it is better to leave a small piece in the middle uncovered and cover only the surrounding part of the cut. Thank you

Looking good! Could a small, soft, natural bristle brush be used to clean up the surface as well as tweezers?

Is it just me or does the back branch make it seem like there is reverse taper on this tree? It could be the black background I guess but I wonder if the front of the tree would be better if the tree were rotated clockwise maybe 10 degrees or so to show that back branch as a branch and not some weird upper trunk burl. could just be a lighting thing I guess too.

A bit of vinegar and a toothbrush will help get rid of algae and moss better than just plain water
