Just picked up an 05’…. Tuned w/ 300k on the clock. I’ve done a bunch of lil stuff like detailing and lights ect. Tranny seems ok and has a recent service. Engine is a complete beast. Runs really good and fires up immediately. I replaced the original radiator which had a lil seepage. Needs front ball joints and that’s next. Loving it so far and got it for about 1/2 of the KBB. Cool vid. Thanks!

Love your channel your buyers guide really helped me out. I bought a 04 2500 a month ago. I've been really happy with it. I had to fix some small things that really were not hard to fix. The main window control panel. Windshield wiper motor. So far a pretty good running truck.

I was recently in the market for a 7.3 , looked far and wide and I ended up purchasing a truck with 500k miles because it had the best service record I could find. Doesn’t have a hint of blowby. The least I’ve ever seen, I’ve actually wondered if it could somehow be a bad thing. It’s a 97 and has been serviced at Ford 79 times. I’ve put 4,000 miles on it in the first few weeks of owning it with no problems other than small things like power seat and power window going out and I replaced the icp sensor and the cps because they had 500k on them!

I picked up a 2004.5 Cummins long bed bed 4WD Dodge Ram truck back in January of 2019 and it had 122,500 miles on it. Some of the major issues, newer outer tie rod ends, replacement u-joints in the front axles and newer hubs, shocks, brakes and rotors were already address and since the truck has spent all its time in Washington state there is no rust to speak of. The only major repair I see that this truck needs is all four 4 ball joints and I have already set a appointment for these to be replaced. The truck was kept bone stock and that was one of my major point that I had rejected all the trucks with tuner, lift and suspension and tire modifications. Medications like running boards, bed liners were acceptable. The main reason that this truck even needs new ball joints is the fact that the truck was used on rather rough roads and it appears it has never been used off road. So even lower mileage trucks do have some wear issues and I have already done a complete 100,000 mile service including changing out all the fluids including the brake fluid that lots of folks over look.

My favorite diesel trucks are high mileage trucks. I bought my 01 Chevy 2500 LB7 with 400k miles and it was the most reliable truck I used to commute across several states pulling car trailers. My 07 ford f250 6.0 with low miles was a non stop money pit that would constantly leave my stranded. The 6.0 was maintained much better than the 400k mile dmax too. When I buy a high mileage truck, I know everything has been replaced or upgraded at least once. Low mileage means you’re going to be dumping lots of money into it very soon.

Great explanation 👌 my buddy's dad and I had the same truck 2000 gmc 6.0 and a 2002 chevy 6.0. He babyed his I had a heavy foot. He sold his with 240k miles minor problems. I put a level kit on mine 35"tires lost the first engine at 160k miles thought his motor may have had a little better machining or just balanced better but I just lost another used engine at about the same miles and my front end is becoming loose and Ive rebuilt about everything once before also went threw a transmission and transfer case. All about how you treat them. I drive a tundra now the rack and pinion and overall reliability is great. Oil changes are extremely important new car manufacturers want to tell you you can go up to 10000 miles one one oil change dont do it 5k max. And if you use e85 3k max. Dont use e85 its not good for you motor or injectors.

Just wondering if you heard of the "Dodge Death Wobble"? I heard it happens around the 130k mi mark in 2003 Dodge 2500 trucks. I don't think it happens in all trucks of that year though... Btw, loved your video. ☺️
@ChallisVenstra
@ChallisVenstra 5 жыл бұрын
TrueNorth AK To be fair, it’s not just a dodge issue, it’s a solid front axle issue. When your tie rods, ball joints, track bar, and shocks all wear out you get death wobble and you’ll need to change your underwear after that happens. Just keep up on your maintenance. Have your tires rotated every 3-5,000 miles at a good shop (not the dealer or the jiffy lube, they half-ass everything. Get someone that puts a whole-assed effort into things.) Ask them to just check your front end for play. You can usually see these things coming and deal with them accordingly instead of a $3,000 repair bill all at once.

Traded for a 03 cummins with 75k I was third owner and sold it by 130k it was constantly something going wrong. I spent a fortune on that dang thing. I wouldn’t be afraid of high mileage one owner.

im looking at an 05 ram with a cummins @ 300k miles for $15k (asking a bit much for that mileage so gonna try to haggle that down). According to the listing the front end was rebuilt at 280k miles and it just got a new clutch. Not a ton of pics of it, but inside and out it looks pristine, no signs that it's been rode hard and put away wet. If the chassis and tranny are solid, and if the engine was maintained half as well as the rest of it, could i reasonably expect it to hit 500k?
