Did you know that Warren buffets wife left him and move to another state. Buffett took a mistress, and didn't marry her until his wife died. But apparently all three people involved were okay with the situation. So I guess you could say Warren is sort of a swinger.

I cannot believe how many of you don't understand 80k is not enough for him. Even if he has monthly payments without having any debt; he has to 1) Pay Taxes - with his income, he's probably paying around 25% that's $20k 2) Monthly health insurance - $700 x 12 is $8400/year. 3) House payments $1k x12 is $12k The combination of 3 is $40,400!! Also, he was married for without additional income. Meaning he was paying food for two people. That's easy 10k Car insurance for two is probably around $400/month $4800/year! He has a mortgage, meaning he paid 20% down on the house. Don't forget about cellphones, utilities, gas... And who knows how many other emergencies he had! As much as I like Dave, I hate how he thinks, "Because you make x amount, you shouldn't have any problem" or "Oh, you make 80k a year? You take 7K-6K." NO! There is a such thing as the right lady, or man. It’s just such a rare thing to be truly compatible and happy. We’re happily together for 40 years, but we’ve watched marriages drop like flies. We didn’t have kids and built our wealth together. Both worked. Not sure if those things make a difference, but that’s our story.

In NC, a married couple have to be separated for 1 year, as a basis for divorce. A smart couple will realize that their settlement between them is legally decreed to be 50/50 and any lawyer involvement will diminish what they receive. They can draw up their own separation agreement, notarize and file it for practically nothing and keep both separation and divorce costs under $500, in total.

She left him for a reason. He’s just not saying what it is. And it’s something to do with him. If it was another man, trust me, he would have said so.

High lawyer fee is probably representing that he is not telling the whole story. Domestic abuse might be an allegation and if so, she will try to milk in on potential alimony to clean him out well into the future. Not to mention, in most states, the one making the most money who gets an attorney has to pay the attorney fees for the spouse, such to ensure equal representation for the spouse that isn't generating income due to the marriage.

Dear Brett I Calculated your Expenses: $4862 a month Take Home. This included 5% NC Flat Income Tax. (Bi Weekly take home should be $2431.) Stated Monthly Expenses: 1K House Payment (includes tax?) 1K Lawyer 700 for Insurance (which should go down to $529 for a healthy dude once the divorce is final) I calculate that you have $2162 after your expenses that you stated on air. The following Expenses are educated guesses based on NC averages. Average Utility Bill in Charlotte NC is 169.79. Internet is 58.26. Assuming a big 16 gallon gas tank your gas montly should be 180.48 for 4 fill ups a month based on 2.82 a gallon NC average. According to Smart Asset's cost of living calculator for NC, your food should be $250 a month. You have 1500 Left in your budget. This doesn't calculate Alimony. You were married for 2 years, According to average NC divorce law so Alimony SHOULD only be for a year or two MAX (Hopefully this lawyer earns his salary)

Where in the US do you have $6,000-7,000 take home pay on $80,000 annual income? More like $5,000-5,500, before insurance premiums, etc. Remember he has no dependents. This guy probably has actual take home pay between $4,500 and $5,000/mo. Not that he should be struggling on that, he obviously has some big holes in his budget, but a $1,000/mo lawyer is 20% or more of his income! Big hit to take.
