My Worcester Bosch combi boilers pressure is in the red and leaking outside 2.5bar

Customer called to say their boiler was leaking outside the wall and the pressure was up near the red so has decided to turn the boiler off until I can get there…
Turned up to this one to find a Worcester Bosch 30si sat on the wall with the pressure at 2.5bar and water dripping out the prv…
Boiler was cold and had been turned off for over 24 hours like they’d told me on the phone so this proves it can’t be an expansion vessel problem…
So we’re getting mains pressure into the central heating system, so we need to look at how this is possible…
The filling loop key is still inserted so this is the first thing I try to see if this is passing, failing that if designed my own sketch to help us get our head around this

I agree with you removing the pump is much easier and getting the washers out and back in is too, gives you chance to replace the auto air vent and check inside pump entry and scut ports for build up of magnetite , good vid enjoyed it 👍

Agree with you about doing things a professional way rather than prizing pipes and finagling things out lol. After a fault like this, do you check/top up inhibitor or advise the customer of that option? If it's been leaking for a while and you've drained the boiler there could be not much chemical left in the system. What I'm trying to ask is, is that included in the job or do you try to explain to the customer that it's an extra cost, or just don't say anything since it'll be picked up at the next service (in theory!!!) ? I always do it this way, once you’ve done it a few times it’s a lot quicker as I work for BG we need to get through our jobs quick. Also doing it the way you usually do it I’m guessing you’re charging the customer for a new flow sensor and adaptor that probably didn’t need replacing?

I wouldn’t need to replace the sensor however 9/10 times the flow adaptor is brittle and crumbling and a very cheap part to be replaced while it’s all apart rather than another flap back. The amount BG charge I wouldn’t expect an engineer to just be trying to ‘get our jobs done quick’ id expect to be paying for expertise not speed but each to their own

@@boilerstobathrooms6267 fair enough I personally replace them every time but then again it’s covered under their contract. I completely agree, however we don’t have the freedom to take our time because of how we’re micro managed. We’re expected to do 7-8 breakdowns a day regardless of what they are
