Hi Leeds Plumber. Thank you many many times. As a long retired plumber, i got out as motorised valves and Acorn plastic pipe and fittings were just coming to the market. Had a bad leak on my worcester greenstar 30 cdi. Asked a gas safe mate of mine to have a look. A pinhole in the supply manifold complete. Unfortunately he could not replace it due to being too busy, he ordered the part and gave me 3 phone numbers, rang them all, left messages no one of them even rang back. As we are in our 70s and still have all my tools, with your help i have done it myself, my mate came and done the gas tests. all good. I'm not in the trade Allen but I have been watching your videos very closely.I currently have a 20 year old Vaillent Turbomax 828EH.It's been a good boiler but it's now getting a little tired,it needs another DHW plate replacement or clean up,I have this done about every 5 years to keep it running well.Anyway I have,if nothing else learned to avoid Worcester Bosch boilers,I now intend to have a Viessmann Vitodens 100-W 30kw fitted.Thanks for the help Allen,Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year,you deserve it.

Couldn’t agree more with the pinned comment by Oyedokun. My mum has exactly the same boiler and this video not only diagnosed the problem but took me through replacing the flow turbine adapter step by step. I’m pretty handy with plumbing but wasn’t as confident with taking part of a boiler to bits. Very well explained on how the relevant parts work, what they do as well as how to fix it. I’m a big believer in how understanding how things work helps work out what a problem is and how to fix it. This video is the best I’ve seen at explaining all that. Cost £14 for all the parts plus the silicone grease so saved my mum a call out and labour. Can’t thank you enough for posting this video.

Nice one Allen, Just had a so called heating engineer from RFW (wont say what i think that stands for!!) come out as i had a leak from the diverter valve. After watching your vids i had a good idea of what was wrong and needed changing. Basically he changed the turbing and the diverter valve. leak stopped but now had no hot water, found the flow restricter washer at the side of the pump and wondered if that was where it came from??!! sure enough he had only put one of the white plastic cups inside and left out the other 2 parts??! Got him back and he denied all knowledge and maybe bosch had updated that part and other BS excuses. Basically told him what i thought of his work and told him to Foxtrot Oscar. Also tried to charge 200£ to change the diverter motor??!! Again, FO. As we still have no hot water i suspect the Heat exhanger for the hot water is scaled up and not working properly. The boiler is a Bosch 30 CDI and we live in a hard water area and thats the first service its had in 8yrs. What are your thoughts on this? I now have put boiler engineers in the same place a car mechanics as i find the standard of work unacceptable. Avoid RFW in Southampton like the plague, i changed the diverter motor my self for 50£ for the part, but suspect as the mains wasnt being restricted that that may be why the other moter went? Any advice helpfull as i have a Heat exchanger on the way and will do it my self so i know its been done right. Love your videos, wouldnt have had a clue about his poor workmanship if i had not watched your vids. :) you have saved me a fair bit of cash i reckon.

Great video. I have a Worcester and at least I know what to expect when it leaks and the engineer comes around (it is 9 yrs old). You should get into training. Big money in training centres as I have learnt when ringing around for gas engineer training courses. I hold plumbing qualifications but looking to get into gas. Cheers Alan.

Allen. Thanks for your videos on worcester bosch boilers. My Greenstar 28i Junior is leaking 'above' the metal plate which divides the boiler into two immediately below the heat exchanger. I have looked but I can't find a video which addresses this issue. I can't even see where the leak is coming from but it is pooling around the bottom of the heat exchanger and the gas valve, and ends up dripping through the green grommet that carries the cables to the fan and the gas valve. Any ideas would be welcomed! Best wishes

hi thanks for the valuable knowledge ... not a full-time plumber but decided to have a stab at servicing my hydro-block and flushing my secondary heat exchanger before deciding to get a new one or not .. and just two problems i would like to impart to save some one a few headaches .. when you removed the pipes that have white clips be very careful not to lose the washers inside the hydroblock or damage them or the pipe wont ever sit snuggly again inside its fitting when the white clips is re-instated. I lost one completely and found one that was broken in half.. thats when I realized why those pipes felt completely loose.. a question i have is the washers inside the Worcester Combi kit compatible?

Hi Allen Great video - very informative. The only thing you don't mention is how the boiler drain valve down is operated - and after reassembling (say having fitted the new left hand block), is there any venting of air required?

Really great video Allen, all clearly explained. Can you tell me if it is possible for flow restrictor to fail, causing the DHW pipes to bang when turning on and off. The knocking seems to be originating from here but I have no leaks at all. It's a 37CDi, cheers Paul

Really dont see what everyone dislikes about these boilers. There so easy. Manifold block comes out in one piece. You can literally strip it back to the shell and rebuild it in an hour! So what I'd it's made of plastic. Baxi netatec comes to mind, get a leak on any plastic in that its a whole brand new manifold @£400 and 3 hours and 20 stitches later to get it out.

A little white nobble has just dropped out of the return manifold what is it where does it go

I’ve got a small drop on the right hand side where the cold water feed goes There is a screw with a circ lip,and it’s dripping from there Basically it looks like the other end of the pipe that you replaced the flow turbine on ?

Great video again Allen, I have this Worcester .. I noticed you said I’m right hand side block it has the thin mesh water filter!! Problem with my boiler for years but never got it sorted and just lived with it .. poor hot water flow rates.. cold mains in at kitchen tap 11litres a min, dhw at kitchen tap 6 litres min.. both measured using wire cup .. Would you think that thin mesh filter could be partially blocked. The boiler fires every time for dhw, just annoying trying to fill bath or wash pots .. cheers

Can the Syphon leak ? My Syphon seems to leak very slow where it connects to the center black tube

I just discovered that my Greenstar Junior installed in 2007 has sprung a leak. I can't work out where it is dripping from. Left right and centre from what I can see without removing the cover. Fix or replace ? I'm more annoyed about finding an airing cupboard full of wet clothes when I wanted to make my bed than the expense. What is the life of other parts on these ?

Can I ask a question, please and get some advice. I have a new (3 month old) Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler. The boiler has been off all day, yet suddenly there was a discharge of water from the boiler through the condensate pipe (I estimate about 100 ml). The boiler HAS DEFINITELY BEEN OFF for I would say 20 hours. The sound, appearance and volume of the discharging water was exactly as it is when the boiler is on and condensing, but as I say, the boiler has been off for many many hours. I can't work out why this is happening - the only thing I can glean from a search to the question "why is my condensate water pipe discharging water when the boiler has been off all day" is that water is leaking into the condensate collecting tank and as soon as it reaches a certain volume it is discharging. I also am seeing words like "cracked heat exchanger" The outside temperature is 12 degrees centigrade as has been like this all day. Surely my boiler / heat exchanger can't be faulty and leaking water after just 3 months? Please help, I am extremely anxious. Thank you.

First time todsy working on one the red wire was pulled out of the connection and after pulling out the clip I couldn't separate tge copper tube flange from the flow controller switch. Units never been serviced since install in 2013. It's the ZWB-28-3

Thanks for the great presentation Allan. I am not a heating engineer but have a service engineering back ground so hence the interest. I do not understand how you advise that only a gas safe registered engineer should work on a boiler then you say or a competent person. Surely this competent person should be gas safe?? When I was at work (retired now) I went on many courses to learn each new machine I worked on how many courses have you been on and is it required for each manufacturer?

Interesting video Allen , have you or anyone you’ve spoken to tried things like LSX to save the agro of replacing the whole part perhaps if it’s an old boiler etc

Watched this last night - guess what my 2nd job of the day was????? L/S Manifold First job was a Neta Tec Div Vlv cartridge (great vid on that) Last job was seals on a Saunier Duval plate hex - any tips on getting these seals out? Had to use a bent slotted in the end. Keep up the good work mate!

Great video thank you, shame Worcester have used so much plastic in their boilers, maybe a higher thickness of the components would have saved people thousands of pounds in repair costs, the price they charge for the spare parts is also an insult, don't get me started on where they put the prv.

Right hand side of the boiler is leaking at the back. I can't directly see where it's coming from but I'm sure it's the cold supply. Any advice in you think it is?

Allen, brilliant thanks, I have a Worcester Greenstar 37CDi, left hand flow unit. pinhole mist leak (classic symptoms apparently) , so from 17:00 onward very useful as I have just ordered one and fancy replacing it myself!! As this is predominantly the water flow side, do you still need a Gas Safe Plumber to do the checks?? (I'm also in Leeds!)
