I like the gasket mod. Thinking about getting this stove for tiny home use. How are you liking the stove overall? I looked around for titanium stoves but most looked like they had to many holes. Does the top unscrew thing leak air?
@charlesartificer2158
@charlesartificer2158 2 жыл бұрын
Over all I like this stove, it serves its intended purpose very well. For a tiny home you may want to think about getting the large version. This is the medium. The larger one has more room so would give you more wood and longer periods between feeding it. The top port leaks air, especially when you first start the stove you will see some smoke leak out. I wish they offered this size without it but they don't. If you get a winnerwell and decide you are not going to use that feature then you can seal it up. They make crack sealer for wood stoves, its like a calk. I hope this answers your questions.

Nice video! I am about to do the gasket mod as well. Now that you have done it, do you recommend using cord thicker than 1/4" or is that the right size in your opinion? Can the sealant you used also be used to seal the plate on the top? I bought some Rutland Stove Gasket Cement rated for temperatures up to 2000F, could I use that to seal the top plate in your opinion? Thanks again for the great video!
@charlesartificer2158
@charlesartificer2158 6 ай бұрын
@Jeffrey.1978 The gasket rope of 1/4" is perfect imo. I have seen no leaking or degradation in it. I'm not sure on the sealant for use on the top plate. But it is rated to 2000 degrees F. So, it may work. If you try it let me know how it works out. I have been brainstorming some ideas to seal it up as I never remove the plate. Wish I had more info to offer.

Going to get the large and do this to it but also put a wire screen over the vent so no embers can pop out if i have it wide open.

I was thinking JB weld to hold the screen on. It should hold up to the heat.
@charlesartificer2158
@charlesartificer2158 8 ай бұрын
@johnnychandler2488 Sounds like a plan. I have used JB weld on homemade alcohol stoves. But anything over 550 degrees Fahrenheit and it will break down. Being in front of the stove near the air intake it should be good to go. Let me know how it works out.

Very very good video explaining everything for the next person. I have the woodlander large double view. I get quite some smoke from the windows. How would you seal up the window? That 1/4" gasket is too large. Hopefully mine lasts and doesn't break down knowing this is Gineese from GINA
@charlesartificer2158
@charlesartificer2158 2 ай бұрын
Some Thermal felt might work on the window. Also the gasket is the perfect size. after a few burns it has conformed perfectly. as for lasting. The build is good and the metal surprisingly is good. Probably last a lifetime.

@johnnychandler2488 Why are people trying to take the flu pipe apart? I can easily clean mine as the flu is near one end and that's the only reason I can think of to take it apart. So I cant answer that question.

How longer it would burn if we set the fire at dusk.?
@charlesartificer2158
@charlesartificer2158 Жыл бұрын
That depends on a number of factors. First how much oxygen you're allowing the stove to use. Second the quality of the wood are you burning hardwood softwood or a mix of both. I found that the best burn I could get and that was using mostly hardwood and with the oxygen almost all the way closed was about four and a half hours or more. It's not you know super big so it only holds so much wood. Now granted I'm only using black walnut which is a hardwood. I have heard other Hardwoods will burn longer so take of that what you will. Thanks for the comment and views.

Had to go back and watch the video again to remember what one I was wearing. I have about 18 watches lol.

@charlesartificer2158
@charlesartificer2158 2 жыл бұрын
The legs had sharp edges on them, so when setting it up there was a good chance of cutting yourself. The door opening as well as the hot plate all sharp edges. So when loading the stove for the first time before firing it good chance of getting cut as well. Its just a good practice to eliminate sharp edges on something like this imo.
