Mysterium is a purely co-operative game for 2-7 players. One player takes the role of a helpful ghost who lives in a mysterious ancient manor. Other players are a group of psychics invited by the manor owner to solve the mystery of the place and bring peace to its residents, as any person who stays in the castle sees strange dreams.

As an FYI, the English edition is releasing after GenCon; so we're looking at September. We've added a pre-order on Starlit already

Just got my copy of english edition and played it with my friends the whole evening. We kept switching who plays the ghost on each game, everyone wanted to try that role. Absolutely everything you mentioned in the review is spot-on, truly a wonderful and beautiful game that's easy to teach :)

This game is absolutely amazing. I had the extreme luck of finding it on Starlit Citadel early which has cemented them as my favourite Boardgame supplier. The game is so beautiful as they've said which makes me sad hearing that they are toning down the theme for the english release. The other aspect of the changing element of the game with a consistent group is also very true, but it really does nothing more that add to the game and actually causes some wonderfully funny interpretations which you never meant to create. That is also what makes the game so amazing. You hand out the cards with the highest of intentions of everyone guessing how you think to all of a sudden hear how they've interpreted your cards in the strangest way possible. I selected a card of a couple fighting between a door to signal the cop, but a friend thought they were dancing. All this is very funny when you can't say or signal approval. This game has become a quick favourite and needs to be on your creaking shelves of over stuffed games. The great thing is, this one won't collect any dust.

***** yeah, this is such a good game. We have received some word that the Polish edition might not even be reprinted which would be really sad

No reprint?! That makes me super sad that no one else will be able to experience this. Everyone get your copies now while they last. You won't regret it! Hopefully that will be enough to drive more interest and invigorate a new North American release.

+theycalledmechris yeah, most people prefer this edition's artwork. However, the English edition has been simplified a bit and unlike the Polish edition, is much more readily available.

Would it kill you guys to sync the video of the setup with the audio? You always mis-match the order... you might as well just do one or the other because combined it doesn't make sense.
@StarlitCitadel

Noah Gadea it's just significantly more expensive to do it that way. You're welcome to help join our Patreon and provide us more hours to work on the script, shoot and editing. www.patreon.com/user?u=472024&ty=h

StarlitCitadel So if I donated the mismashed, confusing setups would disappear? I'm having trouble seeing the significant expensive that would have been involved, and/or would continue to be involved. If filming steps A-B-C-D-E connects with writing and saying A-C-B-E-D, why not just say A-B-C-D-E (or film A-C-B-E-D)? Get both the video and the audio on the same page, like literally every other reviewer.

Noah Gadea If we get enough money to take the time to do the script writing and editing, certainly. I'd have to ask them how long it'd take additional, but my guess at least a few hours each per review. It's a matter of timing and time. Of courseit's doable. However, it takes longer to make sure we slow down / speed up each section to fit into the allotted 'space' for the explanation and either re-shooting to make sure everything fits in that time or not.

Noah Gadea Hi Noah, we make a concerted effort to film the setup in the same order as our scripting. Our usual process has our videographer reading the text of the setup section out loud as we shoot the b-roll, to ensure that we hit the same points. We occasionally make errors, and were less fastidious about this in earlier videos, but it's something we've taken a lot of care with this season. Where things get out of sync is in a matter of timing. In order to keep the reviews tight, we speak at a normal conversational pace, which means that the speech usually gets ahead of the video footage. I think you'll find that the order is identical (or nearly so), although the timing isn't the same. We actually tried pacing the speech to the setup, and it just led to unnaturally long pauses in the audio, and was awkward to listen to. Since we record the audio separately from the b-roll (it's recorded at the same time as the shots of us speaking to the cameras, to ensure those sections sync correctly), we can't change the speed we're speaking at (to get rid of the awkward pauses). We could re-record the setup with different pacing, but that would take more time and resources and also create a section of the video that's paced substantially differently from the rest -- which is something that neither Joanna nor I find appealing. We've chosen to do things as we do because we view our overview of setup as descriptive, rather than instructional. The gameplay sections of our videos aren't complete enough to teach someone how to play a full game -- and they aren't intended to. Our goal is to give a clear sense of how a typical round of the game is played, in order to give viewers a good sense of its pacing and mechanics, and to provide context for our comments in the second half of our review. I think the current format for our setup segments fits this mandate -- it shows, quickly, what the setup entails, without going into detail as to all of the exact steps. I'm sorry that you're not happy with that choice, and I'll continue working to make sure that we match the dialogue and video as much as is possible within the framework we've chosen.

StarlitCitadel In this case, it's more a matter of stylistic decisions than financial resources. Slowing down the dialogue to match the video would add a bit of extra work, but not more than about 1-2 hours. It would, however, change the look and sound of the review to something that's a poor match for the rest of each video's pacing and format (see my more detailed response above).
