Brigids Way Celtic pilgrimage alignment discovery

The recently established Brigid's Way Celtic Pilgrimage is based upon a fascinating alignment of ancient sites, connecting the place where Brigid was born with the place where she founded her monastery, an alignment discovered by Anthony Murphy and Richard Moore during research for their acclaimed book 'Island of the Setting Sun: In Search of Ireland's Ancient Astronomers'. Using Google Earth, author Anthony Murphy looks at the stunning precision of the alignment, which runs directly through Mount Oriel, Hill of Slane, Realtoge hill, and the Hill of Tara. It stretches for 65 miles / 105 kilometres. Those who walked the inaugural pilgrimage in July 2013 did so over nine days.

From Kildare's Curragh, Clark'stown, Tara, Realtog, Thurstian's Town, Slane, Oriel, Drumcashel, Dunmahon, Dundalk & Brigid's Well in Faughart. This was a great discovery. Thank you for your explanations, research and videos. Im a big fan.

Well researched , very interesting about signus . I wonder does it continue south . I was amazed to learn that scellig miceal aligns with a lot of monuments across Europe, nearly all dedicated to either saint micheal or the arc angel micheal .

Wow, so interesting. That part of The Curragh is littered with ring and ditch barrows too. The 65 mile distance is also interesting, 6 being associated with the macrocosm and 5 with the microcosm. Thanks for all the awesome content, keep up the good work.

Brigid/Brídeog - Bride/Fertility Goddess. Ireland has two joint Patron Saints (St Patrick & St Brigid) - Patrick and his successors were adaptive.

I agree the alignments near the Hill of Slane are probably correct. Good find, but your theory of 105 Kms falls down. Straight alignments like this are not accurate over this entire distance as they do not compensate for the curvature of the earth. Only alignment plotted along an arc can be determined to be correct. Plot a line between the two end points and you will get an arc on Google earth which would reflect the earth curvature correctly.
