Now that is impressive. Finally you have a train on that railroad. Those flat cars had to behave with all that weight on them. Those truck springs were actually working. Watching them rock as the train went past reminded me real life jointed rail from day gone by. Very nice video today. :)

Dave Frary once told me the best thing to use for dirt on a model railroad is real dirt. I just took it one step further. I use real dirt, real grass, real trees, real sun, wind, and rain, and real fungus to rot the ties. Try that on your On30 layout! Ha! Seriously though, thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Stick around, you may find more you like.

I was half expecting it to derail on the dried leaf bro but did derail on what looked like good track. Hauls a good load for it's size that's for sure although I used to push loaded cars on a private siding up a slight incline with a tractor so the power to weight would be about the same scale wise. Once you get them moving it does not take much to keep them moving. Safe travels

The 2.5% grade coming out of the horseshoe curve is what kills most trains. This train is the absolute limit of what the 70 can handle. If it stops on the curve, I have to double the hill.

Wow! I'm extremely impressed the 70 hauled that load with almost no difficulty. I was wondering if the 105 was going to buckle as I watched the truck springs nearly fully compress. What a great day on the Mill Brook! Isn't it great when things go as planned?
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad Жыл бұрын
The 105 can handle more than that. The track, however, cannot. The 70 is also at its limit south this train up the 2.5% grade out of the horseshoe curve up to the sugar house.

I think what would finish your set of is another flat car and caboose with 70 and 71 running back 2 back, Aaron what's your opinion on the Titan trains except they cost a lot 😉. Thank you for the New year WP run.
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad Жыл бұрын
I need more than one flat car. As a matter of fact, I will need several new cars. I don't have a lot of experience with Titan Trains, so I'll not offer up an opinion. They do cost a lot, but they are not mass produced. They are made by hand, one at a time. The only reason I can crank out these little ES-2-500's faster is because of the size and simplicity. They are little industrial switchers in disguise. Take off the cab, and you have a battery box with headlights that doubles as a seat with a handheld radio control.

The five inch gauge trains at my club take up to six adults & nine children fully loaded, i weigh 280lbs alone as the driver then the passengers which can be thick or thin so potentially a train weight of 2000lbs on not level track. Our battery locos are all four driven axle except the small shunter which is 0-6-0, the shunter will only pull a two carriage train not three like the others.
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad Жыл бұрын
You have some experience, I see. Most folks don't think a 2 axle locomotive will haul 2000-lb loads, much less control it down a 3.5% grade and then up a 2.5% grade. That is the limit of what my locomotives can do alone, but this is currently the heaviest train on the line.
@WhiskeyGulf71
@WhiskeyGulf71 Жыл бұрын
@@MillBrookRailroad If you made your locos with bo-bo bogies you would almost double your tractive effort, running from a single motor would be a challenge, cardan shafts would be needed. I did forgot to mention that all but one of our locos have a motor per driven axle, the only exception is my favourite which i rebuilt last season which has a motor per bogie & uses a belt transmission system of my design that works incredibly well, the others are direct motor gear drive to wheel mounted drive cogs.

Hi Aaron, I just got a new delivery of 2 brand new 3D printed boxcars. One is red and the other one is orange. The wheels are Grey and they were very rough on the edges where they touched the track so I had to file them down to the correct smoothness which was a pain in the rear because I had to take 10 to 15 minutes or something like that on a single boxcar. The train is very nice looking now and I have called it the WOOD PELLET EXPRESS and I was inspired by your railroad. I actually would like to get an 12 wheeled version of the 70 for the wooden train tracks. I would like the body of the engine to look like it is HO scale with wheels that would be 7 8ths of an inch apart in width and 1 8th of an inch thick with a 3 inch long fuel tank and a vertical headlight and the stripes like on 1206 from UNSTOPPABLE with Chris Pine and Denzel Washington. I would also like a 1 8th inch screw in eye coupling on just the back of the engine. I am also wondering how I can contact you about the engine. Cory Mears

I've been meaning to ask, but I've noticed chains hanging down from the Locomotive and the cars, but from the videos I've seen, they're never used for anything (At least, nothing obvious to me) so, what are they used for? Or is it merely decorative?
