DIY 3" EXHAUST FOR THE 80 LAND CRUISER 1HDFT - GARAGE SESSIONS

In this episode of Garage Sessions, we build a custom 3" side exit exhaust for the Land Cruiser 80 1HD-FT.
This project can be easily done with a stick welder and SS rods or with a TIG welding machine.
This has been my first stainless steel TIG welding project and definitely hooked me to do more TIG projects for the 80 build to come.

Welds looks great for first time. The sound with the added resonator is perfect. I could pick up the the high pitch engine/turbo noises watching the video with headphones. Its a great way to make the cruiser sound "morsig" when flooring it, but you can still have a decent conversation on the long road in the cruiser without having to scream at each other.

Well done Hendri, sounds amazing 😍. Where did you buy that armrest (at 9:58)? Wish there was more TD or even plain NA Diesel 80s on the market. 😑 Not a huge petrol fan, but a V8 is always nice. (Like in the 100 series⛽).

They're called "Dooierus". It doesn't have the best mounting but it sure helps on the long distance trips.

This is the factory turbo 1HD-FT engine. Just normal 15" steel rims from the tyre shop

Thanks👊🏻 I've found the custom 3" systems go for anything from R6k to R10k depending on the end user requirements. Lots of labour involved as I've found out 1st hand

I just bought a ready made to fit exhaust system..stainless steel..still to noisey..need to fit in an extra piece of muffler to deaden the noise..

Which engine? I've noted the 1HD-T is louder than the 1HD-FT engines

@@HendriMouton well at the moment it's only a na hzj80..the original muffler was blown out..so I decided to put the 3 inch stainless steel one on..from the back to before the dump pipe would be..turbo goes on next week..
