Hi Jeremy and Claire , not bad at all for $25 a night , nice view to boot , reminds me of hotels here in Vegas , right down to the crazy carpeting , and not so good artwork on the walls , having worked in my share of casinos , the cigarette smoke can be overwhelming , I do like the shopping promenades however , always nice to see things I can't really afford , hope you two are doing well , and yes , we need to get your channel to that magic number , stay safe , take care , Peace ...

We laughed a lot at the decor in Naga World. The room itself was good, but the hotel overall was incredibly impersonal. It was a strange experience as the staff at hotels in Cambodia are usually so friendly and welcoming. It was odd having to go through a metal detector, facial recognition camera, full-body sanitising mist, and bag xray every time we returned to the building. They wouldn't even let us take our helmets up to the room - they insisted that we leave them in the cloakroom at reception. It was good fun, but we wouldn't go back. Take care Brian, and thanks for being here!

Hi Brian, amazing deal on the room. I was just really looking forward to the gym and pool, so it kinda annoyed me. I'm big on first impression and that turned me off straight away. Plus Australia has banned all smoking in most covered places so it's hard to get used to people smoking inside. I used to be a bartender and a non smoker, so I would come home stinking of smoke most nights and hate the smell. So you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours watch time before you can get monetised. We have a amazing group of subscribers so smashed the 4000 hours along time ago. Just need the 1000 and we can start giving it all back. We make Vlogs to show what's happening around us, not as a job or to beg for money. So if we can get a small amount of money from KZfaq and our Subscribers get to see fun content, it's a win win. As always thanks for commenting, and stay safe out there.

It does employee a lot of people, but I'm unsure how much of that money is spread in the community. More a fly in fly out deal, just like all casinos. But the room was a very good deal.

I think the view from our room was pretty much the best thing about the hotel. Overall it was a satisfactory experience, but not one that we would bother repeating. It would have been fun to use the gym and pool, though. Stay safe in AU.

I did do a time lapse of that area and it was amazing, until I somehow deleted it. The hotel deal was amazing but it didn't feel like a new five star room with all the small cheap options they went for. Saying that it was worth the $25 but would be pissed if I paid $140 a night for it.

The deal was amazing, just the shutting of the pool and gym annoyed me. They said it was due to Covid but the other hotel we stayed at had both open so they just shut it to save money. Plus it was fine for everyone to gamble and sit right next to each other, but you couldn't use the gym. Also if you went out you had to go back through security who were exactly like nightclub bouncers.

I think you were a bit harsh on the coffee. In their south est Asian culture, that’s how they drink coffee because originally, they didn’t have a fridge to store milk. Yes it’s more modern now, but it’s expensive to import coffee to Asia. Tea though is cheaper in Asia. And what do you expect for 25$ a night? And what do you need a spoon for? Hotels in America give plastic stir. Btw, I was born in Cambodia.
@ForRiel
@ForRiel Жыл бұрын
Well, it's a 5 star hotel and usually a lot more than $25 a night. Our comments relate to it having a 5 star rating rather than the price we paid as it was a Covid promotion. I like a metal spoon and would expect to see one in a 5 star hotel. I think it was pretty good value for $25 but just expected a little more. Thanks for watching.

I have mixed feelings about Naga World. It's great that it is a place that employs local Khmer people by providing them a means to support themselves and their families. At the same time however it's right next to the Buddhist Institute of Phnom Penh, a special place in Cambodia's Colonial History where the cultural, intellectual and spiritual traditions of Khmer have been documented, translated and preserved for the World to know.
@ForRiel
@ForRiel 3 жыл бұрын
I agree - the contrast that you describe could be a metaphor for the entire country. It's interesting to see these two sides of modern Cambodia existing right next to each other. Also interesting to think of the greed and desire that is embodied by the casino right next to the Buddhist Institute where we can learn how desire is linked to suffering.... Thanks so much for being here, Tony.

Nagaworld has always been a place I wanted to see, so the deal was to good to pass up. Casinos are never good for the locals, only good for the casino owners. $25 was a great price for the room, but it was just Bling with no real warmth.

There are a lot of hotel room in Cambodia that are heavily discounted die to Covid. So this room would normally cost $140 a night without breakfast, so getting it for $25 including tax's was amazing deal. I was just really looking forward to the Gym and pool, so that triggered me a little. BUT if you just want a nice room with a amazing view without breakfast it's a winner. We were very spoit with the first hotel we stayed at on the way to Kampot.

The $25 is the 90% off rate (plus no breakfast). It was a really nice room just not the standard of the Palace Gate Hotel.
