Nakhon Si Thammarat (นครศรีธรรมราช) is both a province and a city in Southern Thailand. It’s well off the tourist trail and is a destination that not a lot of people visit, however it’s a great city and an amazing province, where you can get a taste of the real Thailand and authentic Thai culture. It has some amazing Thai food and attractions that you can visit. And there is loads to do in the surrounding areas too - beaches, islands, national parks and waterfalls - Nakhon Si Thammarat is a beautiful part of Thailand!
In this video I’ll show you the 3rd night of my family’s recent holiday in Nakhon Si Thammarat, we’ll eat at a market, visit some attractions and eat a great Thai restaurant in the city. In the next video we will visit some of the attractions, beaches, restaurants and food markets and eat lots more Thai food!

Darren, thank you for sharing such wonderful places and for embracing the culture. The restaurant, food and music were amazin, but very respectfully your wife's first cousin is very beautiful. Another great vid of a beautiful area! Ananda was really enjoying the tour boat and water. Aorn was beautiful in her restaurant short/blouse set. ALL the dishes at the restaurant looked spectacular. So many sausages at the street market. I could easily survive there! And the fried foods too!!!! Thanks Aorn and Darren....

Wow, you guys are having a fantastic time on your holidays. Nakhon Si Thammarat looks like such a great un touristy place to visit with so much to see, do and eat. I liked the comfy style restaurant where Aorn’s cousin works. The food looked very good there. I can’t wait to see part 3 of your trip next week. I love grilled squid. I had it on papaya beach while having my favorite beverage while under the umbrella. They brought it to my spot and cooked it right there.

Another really good video. I am trying to learn some thai. Could you possibly turn up the volume when you are ordering food. My Thai friend says your Thai is good. I'm slowly working my way through all of your videos and really enjoying all of them.

Thanks a lot Martin. I really would not advise trying to learn Thai from my videos, my Thai is far from perfect. I personally will now only learn from Thais, as I found the times where Thais couldn't understand me was usually when I had been taught something by someone who was not a native Thai speaker. There are hundreds of thousands of video Thai lessons on KZfaq made by native Thai speakers, my tip would be to use them to learn the language :) Thanks for the nice comments, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos.

I must confess Darren, that you have the best taste in attire of all the food bloggers' channels I watch! Mark Wiens and Trevor James both have their tee shirts custom silk-screened with their own food references on them, but, still, they're just tee shirts... Mike Chen's tee shirts all look like they were purchased at a damn thrift store, what the hell??!! I see all these guys going into classy joints, where staff are often in formal attire, yet still wearing the ubiquitous tee shirt!Anyway, while still being casual, you have much better taste in shirts, must be an age thing...I'd personally like to see you become a bit more chatty about the items, primarily food, that you present. More emphasis on what you're looking at, and a bit more detail would be most interesting.Thanks...

This is a very enjoyable video. I like the addition of music in the background, however on this video, the balance between the music and Darren's voice was a bit off; the music was a bit loud, and made hearing Darren difficult. I offer this as constructive, hopefully helpful commentary. Keep up the great work.

Yes, there are nightclubs and bars in Nakhon Si Thammarat, but it's not a tourist destination, so you may find yourself as the only foreigner in a room of 500 Thais. Those are the best nights out you can have in Thailand in my opinion :)

Love seeing these areas which are basically locals only, al the Tourists stay in their resorts and never see the real Thailand, and no Pattaya does not count as the real Thailand.
