3 жыл бұрынTwo of tennis' biggest newsmakers from the past 12 months face each other for the first time as 21-year-old and world No. 1 Naomi Osaka takes on 15-year-old wildcard Coco Gauff in Round 3 of US Open 2019.
Though she comes in as the reigning champ and the world No. 1, Osaka has been vulnerable throughout much of 2019, after her Australian Open title vaulted her into the top spot. Outside of Melbourne, the 21-year-old has a 21-10 record on the year (including her two US Open wins) and has not reached another final.
After Gauff made Louis Armstrong Stadium her home in two three-set thrillers, she will now look to put down roots in Ashe as she makes her debut in front of 23,711 fans in the largest tennis stadium in the world. "Cocomania" will be in full effect, as Saturday's evening session tickets sold out more than 24 hours before the match.

@@user-ty9jd9lj7h I like both players. Both are great players at their age. I never said Osaka is old. Gauff is still a teen, allow her to grow. Osaka started to win bigger tournaments at 20 & Serena Williams at 18. Gauff is only 16, let’s see in the nearer future. So far Gauff is playing impressive. Osaka is outstanding & I like her as a person, great personality & humble. I like both & both are great players in my opinion.

Naomi's an amazing player, but she can be beaten. There's too much young talent on the women's side. Gauff, Barty, Andreescu, Bencic, even Mertens.

Both wonderful players and a joy to watch. Osaka was in the zone and Gauff really looked to be having a bad day. And that is not to say that Osaka did not win it on pure skillful playing either. The more matches I see the more I am in awe of the skill and heart that all these pro players have. I am addicted and not a bad thing to be addicted to I might say.

Where did you see a flyweight ? Gauff 1.75 m. Look at thighs and shoulders of both player. A real flyweight is Simona Halep 1.68 m and 53 kg.

I love Coco its so sad she lost here. It makes me even more sad to see a world that was normal. All those people, the heat, the tension, the joy and screaming. Of course we most be happy that the USOPEN will be played this year but I miss that normal life. That full stadium full of joyful people.

Coco lost this game due to lack of experience...she needs to learn from this game and the sky is a starting point....to beat osaka u need to be very tactical, dont just hit the ball stress her around on the court and make d ball hard to pick for her
