Osaka has such great control of her release timing. Sometimes she releases the ball immediately and others she delays for a real smash. Keeps the opponents on their toes.

5 of 6 tournaments that Naomi won are the biggest tournaments, 3 Grand Slam and 2 Premier Mandatory tournaments. She played her best on the biggest stage on hardcourt. She has not win a small tournament yet. What a big match player she is. The bigger the tournament, the better she play. She is arguably the best player in the world on hard court for the past 2 years. If she can improve on clay and grass and win GS on those surfaces she will become one of the greatest players ever

Notcha Mate unfortunately I don’t think there will ever be a double digit slam champion again on men or women’s side. I think Serena will be the last one and then the big 3. The depth of tennis is way too great now a days for anyone to rack up 10 slams. I can see 5-7 max I don’t see anyone grabbing 10 slams again the game is way to physical and demanding now a days.

It is incredible how Naomi's mental toughness has improved over the years. She always had the physical talents, but her mental toughness has improved so much and she is now able to come back from matches like this. At the very least, Naomi will become one of the greatest hard court players in tennis and if she can get her game to work on clay and grass, she may become one of tennis's greatest players. Congrats Naomi for winning this tournament once again.
@tizmon
@tizmon 3 жыл бұрын
no. it’s her technical stability that giving her such a confidence in her tennis. she was a power focused player who had instability in all areas of her game. now there is none. she has always been a very tough girl mentally. now she has the physical game to back it up, hence the results. you must be a non-player.
@mistydawn8834
@mistydawn8834 3 жыл бұрын
It's true, Naomi has become stronger mentally. She was on the verge of losing this match but keep fighting and managed to turn this match around. Anyway, Naomi always had the confidence playing on hard court, she is arguably the best hardcourt player in the world for the past 2 years. It is on clay and grass that she is less confident. She worked hard and trained on hardcourt AND clay for the past few months during coronavirus lockdown. Hopefully she will become much better on these 2 surfaces and win Wimbledon and French Open in the future

Thanks for this, what a great set of highlights. You can really see from these angles just how much Azarenka's movement has improved, she is far and away quicker than she has ever been, especially laterally on the change of direction. She would have beaten any other player on the planet this day, except for Osaka. And even then, at 6-1 2-0 30-40 she could have gone up a double break, was back on serve in the 3rd. No disrespect to Ash Barty but Osaka, like Serena before her in her heyday, is the best player on earth atm. Shame Vika couldn't win but great match from both

Of course and osaka is better than barty. She is the real number 1, the most annoying thing is that barty will keep 4500 points just because of the lockdown ( miami, french open, wta finals) and by the way she is playing there is no way for her to defend them. Anyway she will lose them in 2021

*Another Osaka match highlight video?* Don't mind if I do. I'm really proud as to how far my twin (I like calling her that because we're born exactly on the same date) has come in terms of mental strength. Normally, she'd look helpless and hopeless when she's losing but I love how she managed to stay calm and buckle down when it mattered the most. 6-1, 2-0 40:30 was some deep hole she fell in.

@@dominicdominic Oh, I love Serena. I have never been a hater and that is a strong word. Love covers a multitude of sins. I think you have misinterpreted my comments. I have watched and followed the Williams sisters for a long time, I have not lost that. Why I said I am rooting for Osaka, it's because I have hoped for so long for Serena and when she could have won she threw it away. I will always be a fan as I have over the years. I don't hate, that is quite unusual for what I said hurt you so much that it is hate. If it's not one thing, I try my best to put the best foot forward. It's amazing how Azarenka thought she had it. she was just flaunting as she usually does, and lo and behold, Naomi came right up! Hmm?

I don't agree. Azarenka knew something was coming. She herself had pulled herself up in many occasions. She knew that if. Osaka stopped missing it can switch. She was expecting something round 2-2 in the second set. She did well, but Naomi is fitter, faster, and smarter.

I wish there was an off button for Mary Carillo’s commentating. She sounded so disinterested the whole match and kept going off on tangents. The male commentator here was fine.

If there was real respect for the game they would outlaw all vocalizations, not just hooting, shrieking but also the purportedly involuntarily grunts that that grunters would suddenly be able to silence once it became grounds for losing points or being disqualified.
