EXTREME KITCHEN MAKEOVER! | DIY Remodel pt.2 | Cramped 90s Kitchen To Open Concept! HOUSE TO HOME
After moving our family of 5 to our forever home and property, we got to work right away on renovating this late 90s early 2000s builder grade fixer upper. We’ve tackled small refreshes, organization projects as well as bigger tasks the biggest of all being this previously flooded kitchen that needed a bit more than just TLC.
In the first episode of our kitchen remodel, we shared the big stuff- completely gutting and stripping down the space to the bare bones and subfloor. The mold drama, getting our new cabinets and flooring installed as well as a big unexpected change we made along the way.
It’s been a bit of a roller coast and it’s not over yet. In this video we’re sharing the final touches and last few projects we have to complete this space and take the next step on the journey of taking this place from HOUSE TO HOME.

Anyone looking for a countertop dupe, we installed Formica Calcutta Cava! My goodness, it is so gorgeous. It's that soft veining and not a stark white. Plus, easy on the budget too! Wish I could post a photo here but we ended up with a very similar kitchen to you girl! Great minds think alike.

Isn't it a sweet touch. Will never see it but you guys know its there. When my husband & I bought our first home almost 5 years ago, we immediately painted the entire interior. When my husband started painting our entry, he wrote "Welcome Home" huge across the wall in paint before covering the whole wall. Cant see it, but we know its there. ❤

When you first showed us your samples of the cabinets and flooring and the cappucino accent for the island i was like really unsure how this was all going to turn out but it is so lovely! I love that its not perfect cookie cutter everything matching. I love the mix of the hardware and the warm it feels very cozy 🥰

One of my favorite parts is when you pulled out the cabinets and found the "goodies". The magnifying glass, popcorn, etc. Because one would think "oh, you just renovated the kitchen, it's going to be perfect and spotless." No, no sir. People live here, and mess happens every day. Love your new kitchen! My husband and I are just like you and Weston. I am the planner, list maker, organizer etc and he is fly by the seat of your pants, spur of the moment, just roll with it kind of guy. We have been married 30 years and as time goes on I definitely see how opposites attract. It is the meshing together of our different approaches that makes our life work so well. It hasn’t been unicorns and rainbows through the years, but we have both grown to appreciate each other and our individual strengths. It was so good to see that I am not alone in my planning and list making approach to life.

The hardware really transforms the dark wood island. It almost looks like an antique piece of furniture that you've altered to fit in with the rest of the kitchen. I'm so glad you straightened out the refrigerator wall. Keeping the old angled wall would have kept the 90s vibe that you are trying to lose.

I’m so happy for you Natalie you truly deserve it. Funny thing, I purchased the same cabinet knobs for our master bathroom last year. They are beautiful and such great quality. Wow, what a stunning transformation! The kitched turned out beautifully! I love the backsplash tile; the subtle texture is gorgeous. But I think my favorite detail is the mix-and-match hardware styles. I never would've thought to do that, but it turned out great! You should be very proud of all of your hard work on the kitchen! I love this! We actually started a kitchen remodel right around the same time as you. We’re a bit farther behind but I made all our design choices early in the process. It’s cracking me up to see to see you put in almost all the same finishes! Even the exact tile! How wonderful. We just had our floors done so the cabinets are next!

It’s good to have extra tiles. Always. Keep them in the garage. It’s so difficult to get the exact same again years later, if something happens. Loooove your tile choice. Hand made small squares, my fave 😊
