We need a Nate to do a sitcom with all the guys about them living in a cul de sac. Nate’s plays the successful comedian, Dusty’s the neighbor who’s always doing crazy things, Brian’s the neighbor trying hard to be one of the guys, and Aaron’s the laid back whatever guy. They all hangout in Nate’s garage kinda like they hangout at Jerry’s apartment in Seinfeld.

Hello folks! I write this comment prior to listening to the episode and I'm stoked because I'm an Ohio native. I've got high hopes for this one. EDIT: 1. I've always thought of us Ohioans having a pretty neutral accent. The vast majority of Ohioans don't even have the "midwestern" drawl that Aaron was talking about with "brown paper bayg." That's more of a Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota thing. 2. North Carolina claiming first in flight has always rubbed us wrong. We Ohioans have a beef with NC! Not gonna lie, Brexit did a great job of covering my home state. Makes me proud to be an Ohioan and a graduate of THE Ohio State University.

I've got Dusty's back here and sadly, he's not wrong. In 2006, Hershey, Nestle, and Mars (makers of M&M's) started using a synthetic Cocoa Butter called Cocoa Butter Equivalent (CBE) to save money on production. Also known as Polyglycerol Polyricinoleate, or PGPR's. The process to make these CBE substitutes requires petroleum to produce the Soy Lecithin. IMO it's not even the worse thing in American Chocolate. The heavy metals, lead and cadmium are very high in cheaper chocolate. Not sure if links are allowed in comments but a Google search on any of this will take you down an unfortunate, dark rabbit hole. Cheers and We're havin a good time.

In Brian’s defense, I was not impressed with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame….and it wasn’t until just now that I realized that I had only walked around on the 1st floor. 😅 I’m crushed. I had no idea!!! Love you all! I’ve seen Nate twice, and I laughed until I cried both times. Looking forward to seeing you, Aaron, and Dusty one day! Congrats to Dusty on his special! I love the idea Dusty was going with Sandra Nguyen's dad dubbing movies over in his own language. I imagined him sitting watching the movie while speaking into a microphone, acting out all the scenes, including all the men's and women's characters. Imagining this gave me a good laugh. Good times.

Seeing Nate for the third time this Saturday in Cincy! In the last 15 months, we've attended the Greg Warren special in Lexington, saw Nate in Louisville, Dusty in Cincy, and the whole BAND at Bridgestone! P.S. We had the chance to meet Nate at Greg's show and he truly is a class act! Even though I was a lunatic and even gave him a jar of honey, he was very gracious and kind. I'm super proud of & grateful for our stats and can't wait to add more in 2024!

I need a photo with Aaron to complete my “BANDS” photos. Was hoping to see him in February at Dayton Funny Bone, but after all of the hate on Ohio, I’m not sure I want to anymore. So we’ll see. I love Ohio - I have lived here the last 20 years, went to University of Toledo, an Ohio State Buckeyes fan and make some pretty darn good Buckeyes.

Im Shain Picard, I’m from Columbus oh, but worked at a tattoo shop where the entrance was right in “Dave Grohl” alley. I walked past the “world’s largest drumsticks” every day and….im sure Nate can relate, was completely oblivious to them. They’re actually not that big and are underwhelming, like much of what Ohio has to offer. I’m now in Savannah Georgia and going through maybe one of the toughest times of my life…watching Nate land is one of the few things that puts my mind at ease, so thank you for doing what you do! P.S Aaron, buckeyes are chocolate and peanut butter candy balls that resemble the buckeye nut! Oh also the microwave was invented in Ohio :)

I recently started listening to the podcast from episode 1. While hearing the evolution of Balthazar's nicknames, I thought, 'If Beltloop is curating the. comments for the podcast, why doesn't he just edit those out (assuming he doesn't like it)?' Then I thought, 'What if everyone IS addressing him as Bryan, but he's adding the nicknames as a way to get more attention.' 😂

I was in Ohio when I was a young single mom decades ago (shh). My friend had a vacation trailer that seemed like a castle to me back then. She told me where things were and I enjoyed the weekend with my three year old. I bought a bottle of wine & little gift & left them on the counter with a note of thanks. I asked her when we returned why there were baby toys in the tub. Guess what? No tub. We had stayed in the neighbor’s place! The key worked in their door. Hope they enjoyed the gifts!

I almost died at King island... that massive wood roller coaster- the workers let me in even though I wasn't technically big enough.... they rejected my sister so my mom left the line and I stayed with my aunt.... she barely held me in down every hill. My parents didn't realize how big it was when they said I could ride bc you couldn't see a lot of it from where we were standing. I'll still never forget this terrifying few minutes. I was also super skinny and was literally slipping under the "safety" bar every time!!!! 🤯😂 1:25:48

I went to a private, Christian high school in Wichita, KS 20+ years ago. One night we met up with some more worldly folks who invited us to a “house party” that was in this very old, multi story, semi-abandoned house in the heart of town. Once inside people were lining up to go upstairs and see the “bathtub that President Taft got stuck in”. Your Ohio episode reawakened that fact and I got to searching. Not only can I find nothing about Taft in Wichita, but “they” claim he never actually was stuck in a bathtub. Now I have to wonder if it was possibly the best prank ever that has stayed with me over 20 years and, quite honestly, made me feel a little bit cooler! Love you guys 🥰

I can’t tell you for sure, but somewhere around the College Hill area would be my best guess. It was a very stately house, just in disrepair at the time. We moved to Southern Illinois when I was 20 and everyone kept commenting on our “Northern accent.” I’ve lived here now for over 40 years and I still don’t think I have an accent but now people from Michigan think I have a “Southern accent.” I have relatives in Arkansas and to me they are the ones with a Southern accent! Grateful for the show. Grew up in Columbus. Beyond having no accent in Ohio, apparently we have no taste. Every fast food company tests foods in Ohio to see if they would work nationally. I didn’t realize this until I went to Boston for school (BC has more wins against ND, than ND has against OSU, like infinity percent). No one tried McPizza??? It was pretty amazing. The Wright Brothers went to Kill Devil Hills (next to Kitty Hawk) because they needed an isolated place with good, consistent winds and a good empty stretch to do test flights on but also a place (like those soft OBX beaches) that had sand they could land on if they crashed. But the main thing was good , steady, not too crazy winds. The reason we hear Kitty Hawk when associated with them is because while they did all their tests at Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk (about a couple miles away) had the telegraph station so when they reported it to people, those people took the fact that the news came from Kitty Hawk and went with it.

Hello folks! I just watched Nate’s mother Carol on the Got it From My Mama podcast. It was so nice seeing her and hearing about her family life and how the kids were growing up. She is a sweet, lovely, fun mom and so proud of her family. Love the Nateland podcast and wish you all great success for the new year. ❤

My favorite pod by far, I love all of you guys and your wholesome humor that has me laughing out loud! Can someone please translate Nate’s sentence at the 1:16:50 mark? Probably the most southern mumble I’ve heard come out of his mouth and Aaron completely understood it. 😂 As a native Ohioan, glad to hear you cover the great state of OH. Keep it up, I look forward to listening every week! KK.

Say what you will about Nate's 2023, but I don't know anyone who stole first base, got bounced from an Al Gore event he legitimately attended, was Anthony Weiner before it was cool, and visited the Rock and Roll HOF without visiting it. Breakfast has lived a life, man. Perhaps the inspiration for a Forrest Gump multiverse franchise.

I was at a buffet and a kid in front of me licked his fingers and stuck ‘em in the peanuts. There was no one there to say, “Oh, honey, no!” So, I ate some too.

The comment about one listeners Dad dubbing movie rentals reminded me of my best friend back in middle school. They had an uncle who worked for a local branch of the FBI and we’d usually stay over at their house on weekends. They had the largest collection of pirated DVD’s I’ve seen to date. Not the theatre camcorder type bootlegs either, straight dvd rips. Always cracked me up. Hope you all are doing well! This podcast is always a highlight of my week. My dad listens as well but usually is a few episodes behind, so I get to laugh all over again at his random texts quoting something from an old episode.

My parents used to fight over whether it was “snoopy” or “sloopy” but neither could ever prove it because it was before lyrics were available on the internet. They even tried to look it up at the library back in the day

As an Ohioan, this episode had me rolling! Maybe if you guys would have read some stuff at the Air Force Museum you would have learned why the Wright brothers chose Kitty Hawk for their first flight. The conditions were right on the beach for flying. Although they did all their inventing in Ohio where they had their bicycle shop in Dayton. I especially enjoyed Nate and Dusty bringing the “harmony” on Sloopy. Thanks for the laughs! O-H!

I'm from Mansfield, Ohio, and now live in Mt Juliet. I have always loved fast food, but more specifically I have always loved a promotional food item. It wasn't until last year that I realized I come by it honest. Fun Ohio fact: When national chain restaurants release new food items, they almost always release the item first in Columbus, Ohio as their test market, before rolling it out to the rest of the country. This is because the population of Columbus most accurately represents the demographics of the entire country (age, gender, ethnicity).

Who peed in Nate's cheerios this morning? He was so sullen during the comments section. I wish y'all would've answered the question about goals/plans for the new year, but Nate didn't seem interested in that idea and moved on. 😕

Since this was just glossed over, I made a list of Things invented in Ohio or by people from/born in Ohio: (You might have heard of a few of these...) Lightbulb, Phonograph, Cash Register, the barcode, Pringles Can, Electric Car Motor, Rubber, pop-top can, Hot dog, life-savers candy, golf ball, Quaker Oatmeal, Sloppy Joes, Pierogies, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Gasmasks, Superman, stepladder, Cheez-Its!! Trapper Keeper (I actually worked for the company that invented this!), artificial bait tackles.

I’ve come to conclusion that Bates is actually “The Brain” and everybody else are “Pinky” (from Pinky and the Brain). He is a genius. He sets up these shows with content and then throws it out and y’all pounce on it like a duck on a June bug…then sits back quietly contemplating his next move in taking over the world. I think he should start being introduced as Brian ‘The Brain‘ Bates…

I am shocked that Basement of the Pyramid Bates doesn't read signs at museums. That's a classic dad move. On a recent family vacation (to Ohio coincidentally) we bought my dad a book from the gift shop that was just all of the signs at the museum. He was thrilled! I guess It just goes to show that ole Barnacle is still a rookie dad, but it also makes me wonder how could he spend so long on one floor of the museum without reading any signs? I'll go proofread this now.

@@brianbatescomedyBrian, thank you kindly for the reply. It's my mistake. I was listening on 1.5 speed with the silence trimmed while I got my kids ready for school. You were quoting Nate and Dusty at around the hour and six minute mark when you said, "I can go through a museum fast because I don't read anything." I didn't realize you were quoting. In the future, I will make sure I consume Nateland on KZfaq on regular speed and not a sped up version on my podcast app. I'm glad to have such an esteemed fellow as yourself in the "Read the Museum Sings Club."

Since you guys are all comedians I am surprised you did not mention one if the best comedians and patriotic people ever that was from Ohio --Bob Hope being from Ohio. Also, you mentioned shawshank redemption being filmed in Mansfield, but you didn't mention Sylvester Stallone filming one if his movies there a few years ago. Also, FYI as a The Ohio State University graduate and an Ohio-an let me just say that the "The" was mainly bc of a huge dispute between Ohio University vs The Ohio State University that started a few years ago when Ohio University used "The" in front of their name--this resulted in The Ohio State University taking them to court and legally claiming "The". Also, not very many people fly the flag you guys showed during the podcast about Ohio, most of us fly the normal shaped flag. Keep up the good work on the podcast, I always enjoy you 4 together! Side note-- can you guys have a bring your pet to podcast day sometime soon-- if so I can't wait to see what Dusty brings in lol?🤭🤓😅💞

When Nate was reading the comment about the guy who would dub the movies he rented, and then accidentally returned the dubbed version. I was thinking the same thing as Dusty, that this guys is running and underground movie translation ring. I’m still not convinced that’s not the case.

Brusquely Manhandled Bates being removed by Secret Service makes me think they picked him up by his britches, just like Jon Reep was for doing the worm in the end zone at the Panthers Game. Brian: your Manningcast/earpiece comment was perfect. Great show, gentlemen!

Big Fan, Love the Pod!! Commenting on Video stores, I worked at Blockbuster in the 90's, best job ever!! But Netflix destroyed them with the DVD's by mail. But back when Netflix sent DVD's to your home, they had a library of around 100,000 titles... they now offer only 6,200 titles for streaming!!! Quite a drop off and why we're all now paying for streaming services we don't use... insert Bargain Bin's RocketMoney ad read..

Perhaps Ohio-ans are truly trying to escape and go elsewhere - The Dave Grohl claim casts doubt in my mind. He was probably born there but it's widely known that he grew up in Northern Virginia, as 930 Club in DC is like a "home" venue for him and the Foo Fighters, as they do pop-up secret shows there from time to time (I grew up in VA as a big Nirvana fan, and lived around DC for 8 years where I saw Nate perform twice). Also Dusty is right - I live in Charleston now and there are a lot of Ohio folks. Our local baseball team the Charleston Riverdogs gave away a "one way ticket to Ohio" as a raffle prize at a game a couple years ago. Love the podcast fellas! Keep it up - Gabe
