The boys are quick to say the comments Brian picked this week were favorable towards him after 166 episodes of quite the opposite. I think the one B word we’ve never used to nickname him is Backbone, which is exactly what he is for Nateland when you look at the research he does for the topics and the endless scrolling through our comments. Keep up the great work, B!

Okay, this has nothing to do with the topic of this weeks episode but I had to share. I’m a nurse in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and we were all sharing some stories when we had a bit of downtime. One of the nurses brought up a snake bite that they had recently taken care of so naturally we started taking about our local serpitarian In Wilmington NC which is one of my favorite jokes of Nate’s. I instantly had to share the clip with all of my coworkers including some that had actually been there 😅and needless to say they were all in stitches and crying by the end! I just wanted Nate to know that he made our whole day! Laughter is the best medicine, especially for us traumatized nurses 😂😂

I was thrilled to see you adopted my suggestion for adding a parentheses to the show title, and grateful you read my comment. I will confess, though, when I first saw my suggestion implemented I was confused, thinking y’all had John Crist and Regis Philbin on. Then I remembered Regis is no longer with us (May he rest in peace). I felt a little like Nate when he goes on a rant then immediately adopts the opposing viewpoint. I still stand behind the suggestion, and I have a newfound appreciation for Nate’s openness to changing his mind. We’ll get used to it in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the laughs!

Backstroke, I listened to last week's podcast on my headphones while getting a root canal. I have some bad dental anxiety so typically I'm just hoping to get through the appointment alive. Well, I was mid-procedure with the mouth wedge holding my mouth open when the "Go Jackets" bit started. I attempted to hold in my laughter to no avail. By the time John hit us with the "No shame in that start, my man", I was full-body shaking with drool coming out of my mouth. I'm sure the dentist thought I was absolutely insane, but I have to say it probably went down as my least dreadful dentist appointment to date. Go Jackets! -Carin Valentine

In the spirit of John Christ DM patterns, I am now commenting on this episode months later. I woke up at 3-3:30 am after falling asleep watching something on KZfaq which continued to auto play to this. I got in around Regis Philbin, and by the end, was legitimately laughing out loud by myself in the middle of the night. *One actual note -- the Cubs were also known around the country, because WGN was a clear channel (radio wise) -- it meant that after a certain time of the day, you could get that AM signal for hundreds of miles. Then, before greedy monopolies set in, anyone could watch the games on WGN all over the country, too. Go Jackets!

I was working at a radio station in Alabama at the time, but I'm a big Vandy fan, so I got a press pass to the game. My friend Chris and I were in the press box, and the two of us started a campaign among the members of the media to vote for the punter as MVP, and... Since no one else was really worthy of the honor, they all went with it. It may be the only time in the history of bowl games that a punter has been named MVP... And I'm quite proud that I was a big part of that.

I said this once before on the comments for Gregg Warrens special but we need a Nateland movie featuring Mike Vecchione and Gregg Warren as HS wrestling coaches that get one final match to see who is the best! Nate and Aaron could be the commentators on ESPN NUEVE. Brian "Brembo Brakes" Bates could be the reporter on the scene of the big match!

Was at the first Wheeling show, 2nd row! Loved how Nate pronounced Wheeling, the hoodie looked like a fall craft store find, but overall- an absolute blast!! Nate is relatable and hilarious. ❤ you all

I winced when Barbisol mentioned the name Sid Bream. As someone born and raised in Pittsburgh and born in 1984, that name is a curse word. He broke my heart and the Pirates took 2 decades before they made the playoffs again.

How to get your comment read: 1. Don’t try to be funny 2. Say something interesting about the episode 3. Be mean to Nate

I love Nate, Aaron and Branson. I REALLY missed Dusty in this episode. Not a fan of John. Just never found him funny. I do appreciate that Nate is really brutal with him. Get well soon, Dusty! Edit - that last bit about DMs was, like others have said, the hardest I've laughed during the podcast in a while. I always laugh, but oh my word... this hit me so hard I was crying! GO JACKETS!

I don't think the issue is whether or not younger people know who Regis Philbin is. It's whether or not they know he's a Notre Dame alumni. I know exactly who he is, but I had no idea he went to Notre Dame.

Great show, went to college there and it's a completely weird state. You can literally be skiing in what they call mountains, golf on some of the best courses in the world, and then be at the beach all in one day. while eating boiled peanuts, peaches, and deer jerky. Go Jackets!

As someone that watched Regis and Kathie Lee as a new stay at home mom, Regis talked about Notre Dame religiously!

My 17 year old son and I listen to the podcast regularly. I asked him if he had listened to the most recent episode. He has not yet, but asked me what “Regis Philbin” meant. He had no idea it was a person, and asked me if it was the scientific name for Georgia.
