I work as an ophthalmologist technician and the reason Nic can’t wear glasses is because Keratoconus is a condition where your cornea (the clear dome covering your iris) is cone shaped so glasses will not help! A hard contact lens will force the cornea into the proper shape! A cornea transplant will give him a regular cornea instead of the find shaped one he currently has!

My wife and I came to Nate's show in Milwaukee a few weeks ago and we thought it was the funniest show we've ever seen. You were killin it man. We live in Waukesha and the town is still recovering from the parade attack. Our 5 month old daughter had a health scare a few months ago and we spent 18 days in children's hospital. This podcast has really helped just take our minds off of it during a rough year. Thankyou folks. And you guys could do a whole episode on college football. I love every time you guys get into college ball. Great show! Let's GOOOO

Just saw Nate's show in Vegas and it was amazing! Nic was great but Nate's dad has to be the best opener ever. He crushed it and it was great to see the crowd go nuts to see this special moment. I was the only one to yell out "Lets go Folks!!!" and I was a little disappointed/surprised by that. Great show Nate, your new material is the best so far!

The ‘tear sharer’ vignette reminds me of watching my kid in the pool. At first, you misinterpret their splashing in the water as typical play, then the horror sets in for every adult around the pool as they realize, ‘this child is in grave danger’, and if you don’t jump in the water and intervene, it could be disastrous.

Speaking of how everyone has “those stories”, once when I was about 12 I camped out overnight at my brothers friends house with my brother. In the morning I woke up to my stomach making unhealthy noises and immediately needed to use the bathroom. I ran to the house, but his dad had locked us out! Kids camped outside and this guy locked the door to the house. There was no restroom, I was young and didn’t know what to do. I ended up accidentally going in my pants instead of just going behind a tree or something. Anything would’ve been a better choice than what I did. Anyway a little while later when the other kids got up they managed to get their dad up and let us in. I ran to the bathroom and tried to clean up as best I could. Again, being young and dumb I should just tossed the underwear but i didn’t. I rode home with my car window open fully but I think everybody knew what had happened by the smell. Probably the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me. Thanks for the great podcast guys.

The funny part is Nate was correct in saying we are 8 light minutes away from the sun, but the rest of the guys laughed it off and Aaron even dismissed it with an explanation that missed the point Nate was actually making. I know we give Nate a hard time for a lot of things he says, and rightfully so, but you gotta give credit where credit's due

The amount of wikipedia time Brainiac puts into his research is amazing. He's great at making the information relatable to everyone under 75 too. The whole Spider Man parallel universes thing. Way to appeal to a younger audience. Or I guess I could just say an audience since everyone is younger than him. Jeez dude! He has to spend at least 5 minutes researching each topic. It's like if Young Jamie and my dead grandma had a baby but that baby had Benjamin Buttons disease and was 2 years old. Brainiac, I salute you! Love this show!

I watched the matrix in college for a philosophy class. It's thought to be loosely inspired by Plato's allegory of the cave. Maybe Plato's allegory would be more straightforward for Nate. Best part of this episode was the bathroom stories! I tend to have bowels issues often and once when I was in NYC on a midnight run giving the homeless some food baggies, I got the rumbles in my tummy and I asked the guy who was driving our van to stop, he said he wouldn’t, and when I couldn’t hold it in no more I got out of the van and started running through traffic and then trying to find a bathroom at midnight in the city! It was a horrible experience since I proceeded to spend the next few hours running around and using different bathrooms that I could find! I had to find my own way back to the university dorm We were staying since the group I was with left me! You all make my Wednesday’s much better! Nate hope you enjoyed those unwrapped star bursts (hope that wasn’t too weird)

Hello folks, A couple years ago I became a fan of Nate’s comedy when I saw one of his specials on Netflix. Then I found the podcast about six months ago huge fan. Recently I tried to get my wife interested in Nate’s comedy so I showed her some clips on KZfaq. The clips were all over the place from different times in Nate’s career. Well a couple months after that I found out Nate is doing a show in Pensacola Florida so I bought two tickets. Because of my excitement I decided to rewatch the specials on Netflix, I convinced my wife to watch them with me. Couple days later I asked her what she thought and she said yea he’s ok but he just repeats all the same jokes. So what I believe is happening is she is taking the memory of the KZfaq night and mixing it with the Netflix night so when similar jokes came up she just thinks oh I heard this one already. Then I told her we had tickets to see Nate in Person and she was like really I think we have seen all he’s got. This entire situation makes me laugh just the thought that she thinks Nate has established an extensive career just telling the same ten or so jokes. See you in Pensacola. Miguel

Great show folks! I'm an eye doc here to defend Nick's doc (though it sounds like they're gone so Nick feel free to fly out to Washington if you need a new one) Quick nerdy explanation of Keratoconus for you. (pronounced "care-at-oh-cone-us") The cornea is the clear dome on the front of your eye. Normally it's symmetrical (either round dome like a basketball or kind of oblong like a football which is astigmatism). Glasses can fix a symmetrical problem but that's not what's happening in keratoconus. In those cases the cornea thins centrally and it becomes more like a cone (hence the name) and is no longer symmetrical. Glasses certainly can help some but typically leave quite a bit of blur because of irregularity. If you put a hard contact lens on it gives a solid symmetrical front surface then tears fill the space between the back of the lens and the front irregular shape of the eye. Kind of strange but those tears have focusing power so the lens and tear combo makes everything regular. Huge difference from glasses. (soft lenses don't work because they just drape over the cone and take the shape of the eye) Nick get yourself to a doc that is familiar with keratoconus and let them fit you with some scleral lenses or other lens specific to keratoconus. Super strange at first because the lenses are huge looking sometimes but they're comfy and you'll see soooo much better. Sorry turns out that was not so quick. Anyway love what you guys do, keep up the great work!

One Christmas Eve I was visiting my wife’s family who lived in a double wide trailer with a paper thin bathroom door right off the family room. I knew that what I would need to do in that bathroom would be heard by everyone, so I pretended like I forgot to buy a last minute Christmas gift and had to run out. The only store open in this tiny town was the Walmart which was 12 minutes away. I drove like crazy, made it just time and destroyed that bathroom. The next day my wife asked me what the gift was that I had gotten the night before and I realized that I forgot to buy something while I was there, and had to make up something on the spot. If only there would have been an abandoned lot like Mick had!

The scientists studied an image of the oldest light in the universe to confirm its age of 13.8 billion years. Astronomers would measure the expansion rate today and use the laws of physics to determine how the expansion rate must have changed over time. Instead of extrapolating forward to determine the fate of the Universe, they would do the calculating backwards, and go all the way back until you achieve the conditions of the hot Big Bang itself.

A perfect representation of this podcast is when Nate introduced the topic of “the universe,” then mentioned he was nominated for the Critic’s Choice Award, and followed it up with the “fun fact” about Aaron never peeing on a plane, and everyone treated it like those three things were equally as relevant and interesting. Also I’m pretty sure the airplane peeing conversation lasted three times longer than the Award conversation. Unbelievable

Nic has keratoconus pronounced like "carrot-o-CONE-us". Its when the cornea starts to bulge outward. And a soft contact will just bend with the cornea. A hard contact will kinda keep it in place-ish. And glasses won't help... they'd be thicker than a slice of bread. I used to be an optician and now, I'm a comedy fan.

If the racetrack thing doesn’t work out, I could definitely see a 21 putt salute in your future. Make it happen.

The real universe is insanely big, if you were to shrink the OBSERVABLE universe into the size of a lightbulb the actual universe would be the size of Pluto around that.. Thats how much we will never see, and its still expanding.

Your guys' response to Nic's Buzz Aldrin "joke" makes me wonder if any of you have seen the video he's referring to, where a man accuses Buzz Aldrin of not landing on the moon and Buzz, in return, delivers a lightning fast jab to the man's chin.

I have the same eye condition as Nic. Tell him he needs to go with the hard contacts! It will change his life!

Why didn’t Nic pull the emergency break in the parking garage? A great story, nonetheless.

I love that the majority of the information used for the universe show is from Hollywood movies.

I think the main anger and sadness with the Marlins is that we won in 97 and then sold everyone, and then won in 2003 and sold everyone the following year. The ownership blows the team up after championships.

When Aaron said "We didn't name the Sun" my first thought was "And Aaron doesn't have a name either."

Alabama was originally the “Cadets”. They had Crimson uniforms so someone made the comment that it looked like a “Crimson Tide”. The nickname stuck

When I see Nate in Grand Prairie on February 5th I'm going to hold my phone light up right at an hour so maybe, by chance, it'll trip him up as he's wrapping up his set and he'll think he's gotta go for 15 more minutes.
