I know it's been 5 years, but... thanks for showing us where all the screws were. What you showed wasn't my issue but enabled me to get to where I needed to, even with the door closed.

This was so helpful. Thank you very much. I left the cable in the airbag and left it hanging while changing the door handle part. That worked ok for me

I did all 4 of mine when I bought it...... then had to replace the driver side a second time before I dumped it. Really an easy job

At 13:00, you mentioned if the post on the handle is stripped out, it can be fixed by drilling out and add a screw to hold it in. Could you elaborate on that? Thanks!

I would reccomend to use silicone on door seals during the winter time, adds a little lifespan for those new handles..that’s how i ruined two of them. What else is worth to mention, that i ordered handle for my driver door, instead they sent me a back door handle of the same side, but worked out just fine..

Hello. Thank you for the awesome video. My 2005 x5 back door stuck. I'm not sure why. I can here the sound of the door latch moving but the door does not open. Any idea of how I can fix it myself? Thank you

This is one of the most common issues on e53 , normally they last for a year then they break

Don't throw away old parts if you don't have to. You never know when you will need a part of them or even a screw a day or months later.

Looks like a pain in the ass. That's why in extreme cold I'm either really gentle, or I take the Vette. It has metal handles and you can yank for days without breaking anything.

In case you never got an answer to this, didn’t or couldn’t fix it, my door latch was stuck and interior electric unlock button didn’t work, the door was closed and locked. I thought I was going to have to break the inner door into pieces. Then on a whim, I tried my key fob. At first nothing Bicais the driver door was unlocked, so l locked everything and unlocked with the remote and everything unlocked and it opened from the outside.

Another video says that is correct. You are supposed to pull out and UP on these handles. Bad design in my opinion.

Replaced my driver side less than a year ago and now problems again , used a copy part from eBay guess must be but crap , just gonna get an original second hand one of a breakers yard and put that on , terrible design

BMW ...designed like no other.....referring to the highly engineered failure points every BMW features....door handles, window regulators, sun roof water drain pipes, water intusion onto electronics . Engineers are not That stupid....must be by design
