Well yeah in a severe crash your unbelted body keeps going forward so this is normal. We just had a crash by us where an unbelted bus driver went thru the windshield and was thrown onto the interstate after the bus hit a divider, luckily she will live but you gotta wear your belts. Back in the early 80s when this movie was filmed unfortunately almost nobody did.

Edna saying "he shouldn't have a license to drive an automobile, he should be behind bars!!", in a sense you can understand her saying that after Clark's driving killed her dog and then almost got them all badly injured when they flew off the road. But she was such an unlikable character from the start, it was still good to see Ellen put her in her place there.

If the Dukes of Hazard taught me anything, it's that jumps are bad for the chassis. Pay close attention to the body of the General Lee after it completes an episode's obligatory grand-finale jump-scene and you'll clearly see the front end severely bending upwards as the front wheels make first-contact with the ground. The side buckling of the body panels is very visible.

@@thelegendaryblackbeastofar39, I had a "Dynamite" magazine when I was ten, that had a great article about The Dukes Of Hazard, I show I loved. It said, in the prior season, they had totaled 90 General Lee's, & they had crews who did nothing but hunt down wrecks & build cars. Once I was old enough to appreciate muscle cars, the thought of all those fine Dodge Chargers being destroyed for a TV show about made me cry.

Not many people read the classic authors. That has to be the reason why there's practically no mention of the similarity between this scene and Flannery O'Connor's "A Good Man Is Hard To Find." (1953 ) In O'Connor's short story, a family that was also driving down a deserted road gets into an accident in which the grandmother (who had been riding in the back) is thrown onto the front seat, "... her hat still pinned to her head but the broken front brim standing up at a jaunty angle ..."

They're lucky to have survived a crash like that at all, let alone without no serious injuries.

Chevy Chase's outfit in this scene seems like an homage to Bob Weir, who dressed similarly during that time.

My goodness Beverly D'Angelo is beautiful. I like how she slides up her sleeves and you can see the volcano about to erupt lol. (Being married to a Scorpio I can relate.) Anthony Michael Hall said during her shower scene he as a randy teenager tried sneaking on set to catch a few glimpses-I would've also!

Me and my wife have Wally world t-shirts we live in Cincinnati Ohio and we go to Kings Island with the Wally world t-shirts on. When people around Kings Island see the Wally world t-shirts they automatically know..

Up to this point everything that happened could be considered a minor inconvenience But the trip reached pure disaster mode by the time this happened

You know, maybe Clark should’ve gone to a legitimate car dealership that doesn’t rip people off by selling them an ugly, behemoth, pathetic excuse for a station wagon instead of the one actual car you wanted, paid for *and* is available.

I'd love to have a station wagon like that. They just don't make them like they used too.

Now is Aunt Edna on Ellen’s mother side of the family, or fathers side? Just curious.

A paper map and sticking to the interstate would've done the job. Clark wanted to take the off the beaten paths.
