After owning hamsters for over 7 years I decided it is finally time to try out an Ikea Detolf cage! I'm also going to be setting it up a bit different than my past cages, and taking some inspiration from the more naturalistic German type cages. Instead of shoving it all into one video I decided to split it up into a series so I can go into a bit more detail. Here's part 1 :)

I really think Ikea should just start making hamster cages, their stuff already makes great cages. They'd be so good at it.

Love your videos! I am looking to get a dwarf hamster and was going to get a crittertrail cage. After watching your videos and other hamster care channels I’m saving up to get a bigger cage or possibly a tank with the long term goal of building a custom cage for my future hamster and rethinking and researching my bedding and toys I want to use! Thank you for making these videos!

I have 3 ikea detolfs connected in a horse shoe shape for my Syrian hamster. He loves it.

My mom said I can get the IKEA Detolf for my hammie!! I have not got him yet, but I am educating myself on everything about hamsters! I am of course adopting a Syrian from PetSmart. Yes adopting not buying. I know the difference 😂 I’m 13 and paying for EVERYTHING 😂

Hi, I had this detolf cage and the same kallax underneath but after 6 months the glass started to bend and break! The kallax underneath the detolf is slightly smaller than the cage so there is pressure on the glass! Also the hamster can get stuck between the metal in the cage. I would really not recommend to use this one. Its better to use a nice big terrarium with proper glass!
