DIY on how to replace the VTC Filter/Screen on the front of your K20Z3. The belt tensioner assembly must be removed before you can access the spot highlighted in this video.

After this video im not really that worried about this , i have 115k on my 8th gen , runs great , no leaks , no grinds, oil consumption is 1/2 a qrt every 3000k mi , been a reliable fun car.

Just found out right before I went on a cruise today that my cover to the screen was cracked , thankfully I saw the oil under my car and didn’t drive it. I think when i installed my hasport mount I mistakenly did it when trying to do a little prying to get the bolts to line up. Silly.

Yo man, I’m debating if I should get a hashport motor mounts or the boomba one that is the same with yours. Just a question, why did u choose boomba over hashport? And how’s he vibration with them from first installing them and then after awhile; and now?

Do you know if this filter being clogged or anything would have anything to do with code P0341 camshaft position sensor reading? I Replaced the sensor and the VVT as well as the chain and still the code reads

I assume since this is all based on pressure there shouldn't be any issue with doing this with your engine oil in? I'd hate to have to wait until my next oil change to swap this bad boy out.

Daniel Siebert my car was full of oil when I did this. As long as the engine is off your good to go

biopqq id say it's good general maintenance to do this at about 100k , or earlier if there are any signs of leaking

Awesome!! Hey would u know why on a cold start it sounds like it has no oil or somewhat of a dry start? Sounds funny and I’m starting to worry. Oil level is still good

Use some Lucas oil additive helps your oil circulate better for those dry starts makes the car engine sound a lot quieter

Its a problem with your vtc actuator. They go bad after a while if you don't use an OEM oil filter after an oil change. I had the same problem and after I changed the oil with the correct filter and installed a new vtc actuator my cold starts are smooth and the car overall runs better than ever

Don't use anything that will mess with the viscosity of the oil It is only the VTC gear It won't hurt anything but you can go ahead and replace it if you want to

Is the vtc solenoid behind that screen??

On the left side of the engine a little under the valve cover. Its cylinder like and held in my one bolt and very tight fitting O-Ring. Took me a few minutes and alot of elbow grease to get my 4100000 km vtc solenoid off.

This is the VTC filter, VTEC filter is on the other side lol

Hunter Furr no, that would most likely be your timing chain tensioner , the rattle is chain slap

I am getting some funky issues during vtec, i have 170k on mine now and sc'd, its also throwing misfires cylinder 1-4, but only if i get into vtec.... could this be an issue? thanks naus

shawn walden I don't think this would have anything to do with misfires . You need to check your coil packs , mass air flow sensor, and primary 02 sensor. If your car is tuned on hondata I'd say that's suspect too

NAUS replaced a coil pack and some injectores. Cleaned maf as well but didn't think about the o2 sensor thanks for the reaponse chief. Its tuned on hondata just e tunes through vitviper

Watching this coz my dealership wanna charge me 1300 for this job for such a small piece and nothing too difficult to get to take out like 2 parts to reach it like bruh I work in mechanics (not cars tho) and ik that’s scammin for what? A $5 piece?
