👋 who am i?
Welcome! I'm Charlie. I spent 30 years creating a life I thought was expected of me. Eventually I burned out, quit my job & embarked on a journey of self rediscovery. Now I am looking forward to creating a new life on my own terms, and sharing it with you through this channel. I hope to simply be me. This is my journey, rewilding.
What is 'rewilding'? I explain in my first video here: • Rediscovering myself a...

Ooh, I think this might be perfectly timed - I literally only yesterday had a really bad crash, having known I was getting closer and closer to full burnout for a couple of weeks. In actual fact I was probably already there, but I just figured I could push and try and navigate plans without tipping over the edge altogether, but travelling away for a few nights and going to vlog at a heritage railway was in fact too much. I came home a day early last night, and this weekend I am purely in recovery mode. So I don't think this could have come at a better time. You're really good at that, Charlie.

It's fate! I really hope that easing in to recovery mode this weekend helps to restore more of a feeling of balance for you (perfect balance always seems unachievable so I'm not suggesting for one second that needs to be what you aim for!). Haha I love the idea of Alfie being the ADHD in this video!!

I call this "poking holes" - where I feel so uncomfortable I have to find a REASON I'm uncomfortable and obviously the only answer is to drop my entire life and start over because everything I'm doing is wrong *huge sarcasm eye roll* As always, thank you for sharing. Everything you share is always so clear and so accurate to my experience. Thank you for being here =]

this is by far one of the most beautiful and helpful productions that I have ever seen. I wrote down your sentences word by word to study them. please consider submitting this to organizations that support the neurodivergent community. I hope as many people as possible can benefit from your incredible insight. this is truly a work of art. I would also submit it to art shows that accept recordings and storytelling. congratulations on your masterful creation.

Thank you x

Thank you Charlie - in response to you wondering how you come across... I see a beautiful and articulate person who makes me feel better about my difficulties! I think you said in a very early video that you wanted your videos to be like a hug 🤗. I definitely see them that way. Thank you so much 🥰 x

I agree thinking of a theme to understand our current mood based on the vast amount of sensory information we experience is a very good idea. You mentioned Meta thinking which in NLP therapy is associated with conscious language patterns using nouns unlike unconscious patterns that uses action words of verbs as a more hypnotic state operating on Tetha brain waves. To come to think of it this wonderful part of the day especially if it is a period between afternoon and evening time is a perfect time to relax, ponder, have such self dialogues with ourselves and socialize with others because it is a time of day during which the Tetha brain wave is more active. This means we have more access to our subconscious mind through our conscious awareness while we are still awake unlike at night when we are unconscious and sleeping under Delta brain waves. No doubt you are on the right in exploring your self. Also what a beautiful scene under a tree. I not only notice the visual modality in play but also the auditory sounds of birds chirping and singing and the kinesthetic effect of the warm sun creating coolness under the shadow on the skin. We may also throw in the aroma of the plants and taste if it reminds us of foods that we create from nature such as jams which your style of wardrobe also reflects for me as it reminds me of growing up in Dutch/Belgium regions where windmills, confectionaries from berries, cheese and jams are produced. On a more ambitious level by lying on the floor and feeling the earth we can say the proprioception of balance is also a relaxing experience knowing where your body is in relation to the earth and gravity and having control over it. Lovely video.

I can relate so much! This happens to me too with a sensory hangover, it's like I start doubting my whole life. I literally have started saying to myself that my job right now is just to lie down and drink water 😆 it's so funny that it can be so simple.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Your videos are so peaceful. I love your story telling style. I've been in and out of burnout every 12 weeks for years now. I'm recently self-diagnosed with Autism and it helps me put words to what is happening. I still feel challenged when it comes to taking that time for myself, and finding ways to integrate that rest process into a life where I can't take months off work to recover.
