Join us to see what we like and don't like about the Glock 19x and why we have chosen it as our favorite combat handgun. The grip texture leaves something to be desired, the trigger is adequate at best, the sights make do, but the best thing about the 19x is that is always goes BOOM!

As a Marine who has served on combat tours in Iraq and Afghan, and worked and trained with Seals, It is so nice to see a Seal that isnt afraid to say the truth. There is so many 19x haters for no reason. 19x is a legit combat sidearm. I loved the M9 but the 19x is better in every way. I would go on deployment with the 19x over any other handgun with no problem.

I'm left handed & ignored most Glocks up until 2014. Gen 4s then Gen 5 pistols. My 1st Glock was a factory refit police model 21 gen 4 .45acp. I owned a Glock grey 20 10mm, a few 26s, a 33 .357sig gen 4 briefly. Glocks work well with a few upgrades but they are excellent pistols.

I feel the same way. I was born in 2000 and grew up seeing mostly Glocks in movies, tv shows, on law enforcement, in video games, mentioned in songs, and seeing everyone at the range primarily shooting Glocks. I guess it is my generation's version of the Beretta 92, Sig P226, and 1911s (also revolvers) that many people fell in love with based on what they saw back in the day. Because of this, I'm a little bias towards Glocks. The simplistic design and look is so iconic that I've always found it attractive.

I have also have taken the Glock Armorer's Course and I must say that YOU DO NOT NEED to Pull the Trigger to take slide off the slide if the Trigger is not engaged. The only thing I’ve changed was the factory sights and an Overwatch Precision trigger. I like that they use factory Glock trigger bars and the main reason I swapped was I did not like the face of the factory shoe. Other than that, you hit every nail right in the head as to why I chose Glock as my carry weapon. Have both 43X and Gen5 19 and have never had any issues with either one of them. The only malfunction I did witness, was my wife’s first trip to the range and limp wristing and had a failure to feed. Showed he what she did wrong and it never happened again. There’s a reason they are one of, if not the highest selling handgun.

The main complaint against glock isn't looks, it's that they don't innovate, but that's exactly why they are so reliable. Instead of constant rolling changes, and extensive redesigns, which invariably have certain kinks, glock they makes very modest changes to ensure the integrity of a very proven design.

Glock WAS the innovation. Glock rocked the gun market. I agree with your reasoning with the exception of 2 minor points. I use the G23 instead of a G19 as I can (and have) purchased a 9mm conversion barrel for it. This allows me the versatility of 40 S&W (very popular in LE) and 9mm. For my own personal carry I have converted it as well to 357 SIG which is a very hard hitting round. I like the versatility that the G23 allows in the same package size as the G19. Further I prefer the G19 handle as it will accept G17 magazines as well as the G19 magazines. With the full length grip only G17 magazines will work. Just my thoughts!

I broke one Bereta pistol from use and wear, I went through three H&K's for the same issues, but when my Agency changed to Glocks, I kept the same one until I retired. Now, I just bought a 19X, which I'm going to concealed carry for the rest of my life. Thanks for this video, it just reaffirmed my beliefs in Glocks!

You always have someone who wants to promote something different or newer, but he is so correct about the Glock. It’s practical, reliable and would for sure be my carry of choice. You have the variety of calibers to chose from all having the same quality. Unlike many 1911s which can be ammo sensitive, the Glock seems to work perfect with any ammo. I loved this gun before but now it is truly off the charts awesome. Just my honest opinion everyone. Will be picking up another 19X soon as they are extremely affordable as people just can’t realize how awesome a gun this is. So you all are aware, I was informed by a Glock dealer that any 19X that starts with “PX” is an Austrian made firearm. They are starting to make these in the US now. Loving this channel as well as I really appreciate the no BS commentary from one of our prior NAVY elite warriors. Thank you for your service sir.

The solution to the mags not dropping: While it's been around a while before "John Wick" (Credit Keanu for discovering this on his own) is a simple wrist flick and you can throw the mag whichever direction you want. This works with ARs just as well.

I bought a Glock19X because my oldest son has one and is a former Army combat medic with three tours in Iraq. This thing fits my very large hands comfortably. I had the slide cut and a Holosun red dot mounted to it to assist my aging eyes. As soon as the Glock performance trigger was available I bought and installed one on my 19X, what a game changer. This is my EDC weapon of choice, I do have a Sig Sauer P320X Compact with a Wilson combat grip module that I also like a lot because of the trigger. I'm way way late to this haha, but personally the Glock 19x and Glock 45 for me is great for suppressors and comps so it can be a 17 size pistol with a barrel comp, or if you use a smaller suppressor like the omega 9K it is way more useable than on a glock 19 or 17 . the short slide and long frame even without anything on it is just a beast of a pistol. shot one when it came out for my birthday party back in 2018, now years later hopefully this will be my first pistol! great work reviewing the pistol and i wish you the best!

If you don’t mind me asking, what gen glock did you first shoot? I asked this because you said you saw a difference in quality after shooting but glock has some of the most horrendous triggers in the price range along with fn which is why I was ok with the gun before shooting but after I was unimpressed for the price. The gen 5 was much better on the trigger but still didn’t hold up when you consider that Canik is around the same price and has better sights, trigger, slide serrations , and comes optic ready with additional back straps.

The G 45 that I purchased several months ago and I have become “good friends”. I shoot well with it and enjoy my time at the range with this pistol. I'm a long time S&W MP 2.0 guy who became Glock curious. I opted for the 17 Gen 5. Yes, I thought it looked a little boring, but I absolutely agree with Chadd in regard to the reliability. The Glock eats every ammo I put through it with zero jams or misfires. The same can be said about my S&W MP 2.0. The only thing I don't like about Glocks are their tiny, sharp, takedown pins. I'm a big fan of takedown levers. I laughed when Chadd made the Sig comment. I recently purchased a p229 Legion. It's the prettiest gun I own, but I've had countless failures. I thought perhaps I may have been limp wristing it so I booked a session with an instructor and he had the same problem and suggested that I return it. I even upgraded to Sig's ammo and still had the problem. I returned it to Sig, so we'll see what happens.

I bought an sig P229 legion RX model years back. Sold it shortly after due to failure to feed. Sig said I was limp wristing it but I’m sure I wasn’t. The Romeo zero sucked ass too, battery door and the battery comes flying off at the range under recoil. I sold it for $1100, bought it for $1600. Been regretting it but reading your comment now I don’t miss the frustration of a high dollar weapon failing. Some other reviewers also had failures with it. Maybe after its break in period it should be good but it was just a pretty gun.

@@GookInaTree Update: As noted, I purchased Sig ammo and still had the same problem, so I returned it to Sig. Since the repair I have not had any problems but the experience soured me on the firearm and I just don't take it to the range as much as my other firearms. S&W remains my favorite company. I have six products from them and they check all the boxes for me. In my early collection years I sampled various competitive brands and S&W was always my clear favorite. Sadly, I no longer trust firearm product reviews. My suspicion is many are paid spokesmen and women. What troubled me most about my p229 Legion experience was that the Sig representative told me that I needed top of the line ammo for my firearm to function efficiently. He used the "you wouldn't put cheap gas in a Ferrari analogy." Well the most important box I want to check with a firearm is that it goes bang when I pull the trigger. I don't want to be in an emergency situation and have to worry about whether I loaded the 'good' ammo. I probably won't sell it anytime soon but it just sits in the safe while I have fun with my S&W and other models.

The Agents that are optional on the G45 is superior to the G19X sights. But he fails to mention the negatives of the G19X: it can’t use all Glock 17 mags. My groups are tighter and the results are consistent with each pistol. I use Meprolight night sights and have had good results with them lasting longer. Nice review of the 19X. I have checked it and the G45 at my LGS. I was leaning towards the G45 due to being able to use G17 Gen 5 mags without having to change the baseplates. I like the finish on the 19X and the lanyard loop so, it may come down to the best deal.

A great way to improve the mag change is to get a heavier than stock aluminum base plate. I run a 19 with Tyrant Designs +5 on OEM mags. The added weight helps an empty mag drop free. 19 with the +5 on OEM = 20rd mags. It is really nice way to go. I am not sure what is out there for the 19x because of the nub at the bottom of the grip but the 45 can take the Tyrant Designs +5 making them 22rd mags.
