Interesting. But San Antonio had the Kings' numbers this season (3-1). Kings' lack of discipline, commitment to defense, and court smarts won't help matters.

Well the Chris Webber Kings during this era actually had a one game advantage against the Spurs during all of their battles over a 5-6 year stretch, I think you underestimate them. They were the number one ranked defensive field goal % in 2002-2003 by the way@@OrionOodama

Thank you for sharing. It sparks a new set of nostalgia. Between 2001-2003, winning in Arco Arena is like pulling a huge Playoff upset! 🙃 Or for the case of the San Antonio Spurs, acquiring confidence as they're working on something special (i.e. 2nd Title). Tim Duncan remains the focal point, but other pieces are doing their share offensively. 2002-03 is also the year Duncan has showcased his improved passing (and becomes his staple until his final year), which I thought inspired from CWebb and Vlade. This season turned out to be the final year for the Kings to bring excitement out from talent and depth. They lost the latter the next year due to free agency and big-time contracts given to few players like CWebb and Bibby.

They had the best record in the league in 2003-2004 until C-Webb came back from injury & was slow with no explosiveness & just bogged the team down. Brad Miller proved to be a good acquisition in his absence as he made the all star team that season. I remember the game in San Antonio where the Kings, particularly Vlade Divac, picked them apart with their passing. Their offense was historically good until C-Webb's return that year. The Kings' real implosion & dismantling of this particular team occurred the following season in 2004-05. The Spurs meanwhile in 2003-04 were good, but not great and had some inconsistent play throughout the first half of the season before failing to defend their title, losing to the Lakers on Fisher's .04 shot.

@@gezimkryeziu2071It’s the same reason as comparing TMAC & Kobe. Both TMAC and CWebb are more talented than Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan, but the latter 2 have FAR superior work ethic, leadership skills, better defensively and better clutch 2 way players. Tim Duncan was a great player - almost as good as David Robinson in his prime before injury.
@DukeTolgo4 ай бұрын
Robinson was great.Could put up huge stats.Couldn’t perform in playoffs.Pressure and criticism got in his head.Duncan was unfazed by such things.Team adopted the same mentality and would win 5 chips under Duncan’s leadership.
@adamullmann6264 ай бұрын
@@DukeTolgoI don't want to take anything away from Tim Duncan, but his role in the team during the last championship was rather marginal, because he was already a shadow player for the last 5 seasons. just like Dawid Robinson, whose career was completely changed by injuries, and in the first 8 seasons he performed at a level that Duncan had no access to. Many people judge Robinson through the prism of one fight with Olajuwon, in which Hakeem made several spectacular pump fakes. In Duncan's time, SAS had a generally stronger squad, which translated into better team results.

@@adamullmann626 lmao Duncan in his last championship was still the 2nd best player on the team behind Kawhi.Marginal?Really? Lol Robinson’s 1995 squad was stacked and he still lost.A lesser squad in 1999 won thanks to Duncan. Funny how the Spurs didn’t win before Duncan and haven’t since he’s been gone for 8 years.
@Theterminato20133 ай бұрын
@@DukeTolgoThe Spurs in 1995 were no were as good and stacked as they were in 1999. Outside of Admiral and Sean Elliot, the Spurs didn’t had many reliable offensive players who can knock down shots in the clutch. That was solved in 1999 when they had sophomore Tim Duncan, Mario Ellie, and much stronger bench with Jaren Jackson, Steve Kerr, Jerome Kersey and Malik Rose to support Robinson and Elliot.
