SECURE A COM visits a customer's home to troubleshoot her frustrating NBN FTTP speed drops. This issue has been plaguing her daily, and despite her ISP providing her with a new router, the problem persists.
In this video, we dive into the diagnostics process, starting by testing the customer's internet Cat6 cable. We rule out any issues with the cable, narrowing down the potential causes of the problem. Using Pingplotter, we monitor packet loss and identify a drop during our testing.
With the evidence in hand, we conclude that the issue must lie within the NBN network. Watch as our technician breaks down the process and shares valuable insights on how to approach such problems.
Stay tuned for more troubleshooting adventures with SECURE A COM, your trusted internet technician service! If you enjoy this video, don't forget to like, share, and subscribe to our channel for more internet solutions and tips.

seems like optus has provisioned 50/20 plans on 100 mbps plans and harshly drop the packets down to 50... poor from optus. the lower upload speeds and upload speed issues in general for FTTP are more than likely associated with the NBN upload policer.

I had this same problem on FTTP with Aussie BB. I switched to Exetel and had no problems ever since!

It never stops does it Jason.....a simple screw plug would suffice for the mounting of the box. As for the problem.. assuming the subdivision was legal then the builder of the duplexes needed to notify the NBN. It seems to me that this has not happened hence the a and b dwellings aren't listed......for example if the property resident of B applied for service from a ISP they would not be able to get it....the ISP they choose would have register the dwelling before connection can occur. Has B property got internet? If they do then how are they connected and how are they billed? Your customer needs to get Optus to register the correct address with the NBN which the builder of the duplexes has not done. The intermittent dropping of service is a problem that can be hard to trace......cheers Gaz

working as an Optus Tech Support before. We have this one customer before on a 50/20 plan whose speeds drastically drops during peak period to the point that our L2 Tech upgraded the speed to Ultrafast plan for NBN profile but still getting 1mbps speed :

Hey mate. I have FTTP, have been with Telstra Velocity for 9 years, no issues at all, was perfect. Network got upgraded to Opticomm, I'm on a gigabit plan. Speed is perfect, but I get micro disconnections every 8-12 mins. I sold my expensive router and bought an even better one($1300) Exactly the same problem, but same brand router. Tried running a cheaper tp-link router to test but couldn't get it to connect. Are you on Perth? I need someone to help me out here. Essentially same thing, alot of variation, and the massive prike disconnect

Intermittent speed is most likely due to a dirty fibre connection. Probably due to the lazy installation & the tech not cleaning the fibre connectors during installation. If a tech comes out, cleans the connectors & then proves they're clean with a fibre scope. That should resolve the intermittent speed issue. Level 2 techs should have the ability to check the bit error rate to the NTD. Which I would expect to be high given the fault. As to the 13 B not having an address. They would just need to contact they're SP to get a LOC ID (or Location ID) created for that address. Which would then start the process for that address to have an NBN connection. But that's eaiser said than done.

The issue is the internal cabling from ntd to pcd not the cat6 have you even checked what the signal is at the connector that connects to the ntd

I think it is one of 3 things, 80% of the time NBN, the rest can be optus, it could be there POI maxed out for the area or there link to NBN problems, If the place had a arp watcher on the NBN port it would be great to watch if there is a flip flop's, I have seen both ISP & NBN doing flip flops on Mac address (Changing Auth server) at both L2 & L3, for my own office I see my NBN link change some times 4 times a day and this can cause speed problems, I monitor the office link every 5 min for speed both at the ISP level & NBN lever, and every sec for arp.

Typical ISP and NBN blaming everything else but themselves and the customer has to prove itโ€™s not their end.
