The dial gizmo is 100% legit. All it does is covert the pulse dials to tones for OUTGOING calls. I found with mine the rj11 to 610 adapter was causing the phone not to ring. As a previous poster wrote you need to jumper the red and the black wires inside the adapter.Upon opening mine I found that it was wired incorrectly the pairs where swapped. Had dial tone but no ring. Once I swapped the green and the white wires to pins 6 and 5 and jumpered it’s ringing all be it a bit quiet. Measured across the ringing coil inside the phone. My FTTP modem is only supplying 17 volts at max but it still rings!! Now I reckon I might buy one of those dooohickeys so I can call out for nostalgia 😂😂😂 Don’t discount a product because you don’t understand it or how analog phones need to be wired.

I've been having issues with my connection recently. I ran a test on TPG's website and it said it identified an issue. An NBN tech came out the day after and told me the signal at the pit was way too weak and that someone would need to come out and adjust it later. 10 minutes later while he's running a test on the modem he goes the signal has fixed itself and now they won't be coming out to do any work because the test has been passed at some stage. He was a good bloke, he had 13 more 2 hour jobs assigned to him and he still took his time testing everything thoroughly, he tried to message them and explain that the issue's we've been having are intermittent and that the signal is likely to blame but they just completely ignored him. What good is that? And sure enough, still having problems days later but I can't talk to NBN myself I have to ring up TPG and wait on the phone for hours just to get a hold of someone.

I'm an ex Telstra contractor and have been caught in this situation many times. Before the NBN roll out and Telstra still owned the Network it was the customers or the home owners responsibility to provide a 400mm deep trench from the house to the property boundary. Telstra would then install the P20 conduit in the trench and do whatever was needed on the footpath to get the service connected. You can't run a lead-in cable through the Neighbour's roof to the unit that you are trying to connect for security reasons.

Hey mate. I have FTTP, have been with Telstra Velocity for 9 years, no issues at all, was perfect. Network got upgraded to Opticomm, I'm on a gigabit plan. Speed is perfect, but I get micro disconnections every 8-12 mins. I sold my expensive router and bought an even better one($1300) Exactly the same problem, but same brand router. Tried running a cheaper tp-link router to test but couldn't get it to connect. Are you on Perth? I need someone to help me out here. Essentially same thing, alot of variation, and the massive prike disconnect

They do work but the incoming ring needs to come from your voip. Its probably the gizmo is only 2 wire with the pld phone being 3rd wire for the bell, just connect wire 3 to one leg of the 2 wire. Its also possible that the ringing current may not be powerful enough for the bell

I have one of these in my front yard. All banged up standing diagonally, cover half off and wires all exposed. I connected to NBN last week (FTTN) and was curious what would happen when it rained. Well internet went out, so I reported it to NBN thinking it was their asset. They came our the following day due to safety concerns of exposed wires and conducted a partial repair. Then they called me the following day and realised its actually Telstra's asset and I'd need them to finish the job! Kind of funny they half repaired it before realising the mistake. I've now contacted Telstra. Not expecting much but hopefully someone will come out.

You're right on one count. The dialgizmo isn't ACMA approved. I approached the company some time ago and they openly admitted it. Their market is international and not worth their while faffing around with our bureaucracy. If Australians want to buy one it's one their head. Saying they they certainly can convert the rotary dial pulses to DTMF to dial out on NBN. You're wrong on everything else. The NBN modem telephone/voice port can handle something like REN3 which means any old analogue mechanical bell phone will work. Similarly the phone will transmit and receive speech. More than likely you haven't configured the phone bell cct. In old 800 series phone installations, there was a strap in the wall socket that enabled the bell. When the phone was unplugged this connection was lost. You need to open the phone and reconfigure the straps inside. Have a look at oldaustraliantelephones.weebly.com/nbn-telephony.html#b and oldaustraliantelephones.weebly.com/basic-testingrepair-of-vintage-analogue-lbcbdial-phones.html#h

I'm in this situation now... moving into a grannyflat that's seperate property tomorrow. Separate water, electricity, post, driveway, etc. FTTP to the main house in front, but no NBN to my place. It's insane. I have to get garbage 4G fixed wireless (no 5g coverage) which was good about... 15 years ago. 25mbps max, and probably half that in practice.

Had the same issue in Tullamarine Victoria for years. An entire court of office/warehouse buildings lost NBN internet every time it rained. Techs would come out, acknowledge the problem (pit looked like this one) and say they would send some one to sort out the pit. Every time NBN would close issue as resolved. We ended up putting a plastic tub with concrete edging over the pit to solve the issue and it worked perfectly for the 3 years till I left.

You should have connected to the router with your phone or laptop Jason and checked its settings. It could be a security setting on the customers device, such as a VPN set to allow only certain apps or sites. Router settings like QoS can cut speeds by half.

Aussie Broadband provides great customer service and good service during my time with them. However, customers should also consider Leaptel, a smaller player known for their outstanding customer care and service. Currently with them, I can attest to their great customer support and service. They also have a great new customer discount. Also there is a provider Launtel offers a great option for customers seeking daily rates with the ability to go up and down speed at will and a prepaid-like NBN service, coupled with good customer service.

I am having the EXACT same issue with AGL right now. Changed to AGL on Monday and it has been dropping out ever since. When it does drop out, all the lights are on on the modem as they should be. Solid internet, wifi, etc. But I cannot login to the router via the ISP when it drops out. AGL have been sooooooo f'ing frustrating! And it takes hours on their chats to do something and then they get to the end of their shift and leave you and tell you to monitor overnight. F'ck me!!! AGL are useless

There is nothing wrong here!!! What your seeing in logs files is standard - nothing to worry about. Your NBN router has not been hacked! You phone was compromised, your Apple-ID needs to be reset and passwords changed. You equipment is fine - reset everything to factory default, then enter details.

This is NORMAL. All fucked. I replaced my lead-in completely 6 years ago, because of waterlogging. The gel-affected cable was left in coles bags. When EDC/Telstra came through the area, they removed all of it and just taped and butted. In my service, 5 joints were dumped in the bottom of the pit. Had been like that since 2005 - Prior to NBNco. I rebuilt about 200 pairs around here for free because of that shitty gel. Went from having no service, to about 12Mb/sec on 980M. We ended up having the job for fibre here and I've got reconnected.

as an nbn tech, i must tell you, in some circumstances some of these joints are not water proof anymore due to damage or puncture and sometimes its useless to put the cap back even worse as it might keep the water in for long time and rott the connectors, have you done a graphic tdr test to locate where the fault is? fttn is a long distance and there would be at leat 3 or 4 of these joints between socket and pillar, secondly he can apply to n2p upgrade as clearly fibre in the pit and nbn recently told us not to rehabilitate copper joints. lastly it is the job for every tech to make sure joints are reclosed, the last tech who attended didn't follow the process
@slimj2902
@slimj2902 6 ай бұрын
just rewatched the video again, you can clearly see one of the 2 pairs cable going into the joint without a seal no heatshrink, and that will flood the joint from inside even when the cap is closed, so it is actually better not close the cap as the water will remain there for longer time than the pit itself and cause corrosion faster than without a cap, and given that copper rehabilitation have been stopped unless its a severe damage, the better option for customer is fibre upgrade, and in the mean time do a proper fault finding to check at which distance are they having a high resistance or other issues like bridge tap, you can have a perfect line but still get a drop out which could be at the node itself. so really fttn testing isn't that simple
