My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article kzfaq.infoUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.

This dude is either a puppet or quack. He’s using his credibility as a phd to spread stupid nonsense. It’s super easy to be healthy. Eat a high protein and fiber diet and take useful supplements, vitamins, and peptides. Dismiss anyone who says dumb stuff like meat is more likely to cause diabetes than sugar. Sugar should be treated like a drug, in moderation it’s okay but don’t be a sugar addict.

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

I agree. Get your daughter checked. My son could not get enough water, constantly in the bathroom and lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks. He spent last weekend in the ICU. Very sick. The hospital released him before his levels were evened out, but they decided to send him home because the hospital was so full of COVID. He is in College and his roommates had COVID. He now has COVID on top of his new Type 1 diagnosis. I am not terribly sure why he has diabetes as our family is prominently low blood sugar. He also has always had low blood sugar, So confused as to how this is possible? The only significant thing he did was get first vaccine 7 months ago, got second vaccine 2 weeks before he ended up in ICU. I am not anti-vax. People can do what they want. But I am struggling with the fact this happened around the time he got the vaccine. Also, I am not a MAGA hat person, not Trump signs or stickers…but in May 2020 Trump was trying to pass bill to make insulin and epi pens affordable. As low as $100 a month, people are dying. Biden(Mr healthcare is a right) what a joke of a human, stopped the bill dead in its tracks. Does that sound like a man who cares about healthcare? I say not. He lied to get his position. Look it up. That happened. Children, small children with juvenile diabetes whose families have to struggle to find a way to get life saving meds for their children. My son’s prescription for 3 weeks was $1700. His long acting shot is not covered at all, ever. His short acting shots have to be pre approved. Diabetics have gone back into keto acidosis waiting for approval. I have a very large insurance company. Any other meds he may need I have to pray they cover. The government, pharmaceutical companies…they do not care about diabetics. No one can tell me different and really hope no one argues, because this past week has been a nightmare. To add to that, my son was legally handicapped capped at birth. Deformed foot, 10 surgeries before 12. Such a sweet boy he would never let me out his handicapped sign 🪧 n the car so we could park close so it wouldn’t hurt him to walk. He used to say, others need it more. I haven’t picked political sides…kind of thought they were all they same. Again, I am a Middle class single mom, with 3 boys at home, one in college and one graduated with a master’s. I cannot afford the horrible grocery prices, the outrageous gasoline and now I find out my son is sick and the government and pharmaceutical companies do not care of our children and parents die. They can spend millions on a vaccine, but can’t cut cost of insulin? Who in their right mind would agree that’s ok? Who? Average cost in the nation for insulin with great insurance and your insulin covered is $1000 a month. That does not include needles glucometer, glucose strips, the many doctors appointment. Just the insulin. And btw, while they are yelling about vaccine, masks mandates, one of the worst co-morbity for COVID is diabetes. But Biden blocked the bill that would save limbs, lives of millions of diabetics. He says get the vaccine out of love for your neighbor, but hey, he doesn’t care about the third worst comorbity COVID kills. He literally killed people when he blocked that bill. Again, not anti vax, until 2 weeks ago. Complete utter hypocrisy. Disgusting. And none is even aware he did that. I only knew trying to understand my son’s chronic illness. How can you trust one word. How? It’s revolting. I literally puked and cried when I found out what he did. My son who wants to contribute to humanity, has more morals in his thumbnail then Biden. I am one of the idiots that believed he would change healthcare, not literally mame and kill diabetics who cannot afford their medication. Again, we are supposed to take the Jab to save people like my son, while in the meantime he made it hard for one of the first group to die from COVID by( diabetics) to just live. Think about that. Research and make that man be gone, gone, gone in 2024. Actually, he won’t even know when 2024 is, so we probably don’t have to worry. I am going to spend every day letting every person I meet know what he did to our diabetic community. The ones he pretends to protect with the jab. He literally killed and named diabetics that can’t afford thousand of dollars A MONTH and STILL talks about better healthcare. Sick and evil. Sorry this is so bitter. It was a devastating week. I do not forget. And I will write letters, spread the word…no more. Absolutely no more of that crap out of his mouth. My son is strong, he will overcome(he has the worst kind of diabetes)…and the demented old man..he doesn’t care who lives or dies. Don’t be fooled. I certainly was. He lost a child. Anyone with a soul would have empathy. He is completely entirely void of that emotion, morals and most importantly cognitive function. But he kept his 47 years of useless evil intact. Didn’t he?

So checking out the following might be worth your while. Dr. Sarah Hallberg and Dr. Stephen Phinney, run the Virta Clinic (501 Folsom St. San Francisco, Ca. 94105.) They also have online nutritional programs for type 1&2 diabetics, using minimum or nil medications. Just a tip, I have noticed that using WHOLE grains, that means unprocessed millet, kasha, oat groats, helps to curb sugar cravings. And my "treats" are things like carob spirulina nuggets that have seeds in them, maybe one every couple of days, and fruit, I have also noticed that when you cut the refined sugar out of your diet, your taste buds adjust and even bean chili tastes sweet. Wonderful things happen when you eat whole plant foods, it's really quite amazing. Another tip is to use carob instead of cocoa powder, it's a great food, I make a shake with unsweetened almond milk, a scoop of carob powder, half a banana and a scoop of green powder. Tastes like a chocolate shake!

I was pre-diabetic and had cholesterol going up into the 220’s. My doctor wanted to start meds. Through a blessing at that time, we switched our diet to plant based to cure our daughters auto-immune disease (diagnosed generalized MG, through blood testing and clinical). I was eating “lean” white meats and lots of fish at the time and thought I was eating healthy. I switched my diet in support of our daughter (including juicing) and my cholesterol numbers (total) went to 145 and my good cholesterol ratio greatly improved within 2 months. I continued to loose the extra 50 lbs i was carrying around over 6 months but was eating all I wanted in vegetables/fruit/whole grains/legumes with no attention to caloric intake. This saved my life!

May I ask what was your diet in general when you were eating lean white meats and lots of fish? Did you eat processed foods? Grains? Starchy foods? Sodas or other sugary stuff? I wonder whether your diet was totally natural (meaning that it came from nature (meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish)) or there were processed foods? Or maybe the other kinds of foods that I've mentioned? I'm asking about this because for some reason, quite a lot of KETO folks are having success and they don't necessarily eat vegan diet.

My biggest changes were switching from foods that I like that are higher in carbs and sugars to foods that I like that are higher proteins. I like mixed nuts and sardines so when I switched from chips and cookies, I still felt satisfied. I also to a lot of indoor gardening to produce my vegetables. Adding a couple of teaspoons of cinnamon to my oatmeal is very enjoyable. I still don't get a lot of exercise, but my new glucose low is 94 and my A1C is 6.1. My A1C was over 14 in January.

@@fbs1917 have you had your blood sugar tested (you need to fast 10-12 hours before blood drawn)? Especially for your A1c level? If you’re prediabetic or diabetic your health insurance may cover the meter and the disposable testing strips and lancets. The insurance company will tell you which brand they’ll pay for, so get one of the ones covered. But you’ll need a doctor’s Rx for insurance to pay. Without the Rx you’ll pay out of pocket full retail, so look for the cheapest meter and more importantly the cheapest strips. You’ll find them in any drug store, usually in front of the pharmacist counter (but the strips may be behind the counter so ask the pharmacist assistant for prices for all box sizes (usually 50 or 100 per box) for each meter.) Each meter uses its own strips. Your blood glucose and/or A1c lab result will dictate how many times a day to test. I’m down to once a day before dinner since my A1c ranges between 5.4-5.8. (I was diagnosed at 9.2.)

Such a complete, easy to understand explanation of using diet to treat diabetes. His talking and teaching style is so warm, it's like a healthy hug (imho). Love Dr. Barnard! Thank You. I'm 54, and this year I'm going to get that Denny's Senior Discount (lol) - on salads 😁! My blood test in February reported that I'm pre-diabetic (along with a lot of other not-healthy numbers). I began Intermittent Fasting since 12/28/2021 and have lost 25 lbs. My eating is probably 75% WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based) with 25% of the time trying to make the healthiest choices when I'm eating out or with family/friends in their homes, just want that cookie. Having had a friend who had genetic diabetes only gain weight when she had to add metformin to her insulin shots (she loved cheese, and Dr. B has a great video about cheese and why we crave it and why it's not our friend), who even had weight loss surgery that was supposed to help get rid of her diabetes, or at least return it to a healthier manageable state - but her weight and numbers still increased... I'm so convicted to now, today, draw that line and stop saying 'okay' to foods that are not good for me just to be polite, or to not 'be a hassle' or whatever. This is my health ♥. Dr. Michael Greger (NutritionFacts.org) is also one of my favorites to go to for short, simple and sweet *science-based* Nutrition Fact videos regarding why WFPB is the way to restore our health. Given enough time and the correct fuel, our bodies (most of the time, there are always exceptions because we are individuals) have a fighting chance to be healthy again without using chemical$ and pre$cription$.

Thank you for such a great video. 4 months ago I went on a Whole Foods Plant Based eating diet. The results so far have been an eye opener for me. My A1C went from 6.8 tp 6.2. I eliminated Glipizide and my insulin went from 44 units to 20 units. I was able to lose 50 pounds and have eliminated 2 Blood Pressure meds. I am limiting my fat intake to 10% daily and no longer worry about eating carbs. Between your and Dr. John McDougall's videos, both of you have changed my life for the better.

Thanks for very simplified explanation of very complex Issues like Diabetes. I wish it was as simple as it explained. I am not part of any diet tribe and I am not sure no one can offer one size all fit solution. As a 56 years old , diabetic (T2)for over 25 years, tried and failed many diet, I found my personal solution . I got myself a CGM and track my AGP closely. Track any fall and Rise of my BG with any food (Kind and amount ) and activities . And adjust that for the next time. Not eating unless I am hungry and not eat anything comes in box with labels on it. This approach work for me . with my doctor approval , i stopped all my meds including insulin.

So I started eating meat again because I still had some in my freezer from before I heard about this and I already feel sluggish and tired. You inspire me to try harder. Eating meat will boost your immune system, it contains just about all the nutrients in the right forms and ratios. It has been wrongly vilified by religious groups and environmentalists. Processed foods, the combination of grains and cheap fats from seed oils made Americans fat. You will lose weight by following either a low fat high carb, or a high fat low carb regime. The latter is more nutrient dense and more indicated for humans going by our ancestry and digestive system. If the low fat diet completely excludes animal fats and proteins, as Barnard recommends, you must supplement heavily or else run into life threatening deficiencies.

You may just think you did Keto. Obviously you didn’t do it right. How do you know you were in ketosis. Did you check yourself with a keto meter. Do you know there are lots of junk shit keto meters out there. Some of them read a 10 when you’re actually at zero. You need a kilo meter that has been collaborated with something else so that you know it’s accurate. Some idiot showed you a colorful graph and you fell for his propaganda. I took my A-1 C from 9.8. To 6.4. In 3 months by eating low carbs. Not even keto. You have to read nutritional facts on everything you eat and then know what they all mean. And then you need a CGM so that you have definitive proof of what foods are actually doing to your blood sugar.

My a1c is at 10.7 and I’m freaking out. I used to be vegan, then vegetarian, and now I’m going back to vegan because i don’t want to be on medications. Hearing your story is inspiring to me. I feel hopeful! Thank you.

Update: since posting the above original comment and staying on a whole foods plant based diet my A1C is even lower now and I have lost nearly another 40 lbs. Several other medical conditions have improved or disappeared, as well. Last year I started and still lead a WFPB lifestyle support group in the largest retirement community on the planet where our members (most aged between 60-90) have reported similar successful experiences. We love getting together to educate newcomers, share recipes, do food preparation demonstrations, enjoy samples of homemade WFPB foods, provide individual support and much more. I am extremely pleased to report that my husband is now on board with this lifestyle and is doing MUCH better, health wise, too. His physicians are thrilled with his progress and many chronic ailments he has had for decades are being reversed. If we had known we would feel this great on a plant nutrition diet we would have done this before we got married over 50 years ago and raised our kids this way, too.💚
