Had a Jamaican friend in high school who tried a lot of DIY on his hair. He tried doing the striped hair from the black guy in General Public that sang the song Tenderness. My friend's head looked like someone dumped napalm on his head and set it ablaze. He once got his hands on what I can only describe as sheep shears and offered to cut the hair of a classmate. The next day, he had 17 stitches on the back of his neck.
