You should consider that potential is maybe not the way to view how people expend effort or how that effort materializes but instead view it as how the circumstances surrounding the creation of something played out. Like for instance, sonic 06 had the POTTENITAL to be sonic adventure 3, the circumstances surrounding that game though? It ensured that it would never come to fruition. It's better to smile with what we have and understand the world as a cause/effect kind of deal rather than pine about what could have been and upset ourselves

yeah, i may have even got a bit inspired by them in the making of one of my vids... i was a horror genre loving guy, when Mandela catalogue first started getting popular i ignored it. i've seen people strangely bash on this thing when it came out, but when i watched it, time by time I started growing a strong appreciation for it! then after i discovered Needlem0use my appreciation grew even more, man how i love these videos!!

I mean it's not the same genre but it's in the general same ballpark of online horrors, but Dad was fighting in the Content Clash, hopefully spreading the idea of ARGs and then horror content after that.

Maybe for you but the way i encountered Sonic.exe was on a school PC and accessed some random drive on their network. Rambled trough the folders a bit until i found Sonic.exe, thinking it was an actual Sonic game so i played it until i realized something was odd.

I enjoy the emotional conflict that the series makes people feel about wanting to feel bad for eggman, tails,and knuckles because they talk wanting to see their families but it reminds you that they killed Sarah. Therefore you feel torn about not knowing who to feel bad for because Sarah is tormenting her friends but they killed her

I like how everyone is in the shades of gray, how kids were selfish and hid a body, and the body came back for revenge but took it too far. It’s the sad tale of selfishness, regret, and revenge. No one is happy, and everyone is being tortured for what they did. No one is right, no one is wrong. It’s just ideas and sides of the story. Pieces of a twisted and torn puzzle.

I really hope they didn't, because if it really is as surface as that it's way too boring imo. But I'm so bored of humans are the worst monsters stuff too. I got bored of The Walking Dead and by the end of Home Sweet Home I actively wanted nearly everyone left to die. It's like wow people betray each other and suck, water makes things wet.

20:43 It's not a crystal, that's a Chaos Emerald, one of the artifacts that Sonic must collect to turn into Super Sonic. This is really interesting, because it implies that the characters reborn as Sonic characters do still follow the rules from the games inside of them. And keep in mind, the Chaos Emeralds' power turns thoughts into reality. Also, Kyle seems to have been turned into Silver-Sonic, one of Sonic's multiple robot copies, like Mecha or Metal Sonic.

I feel like Sonic.exe could gave been two things: 1. What needlemouse created. 2. An AI program designed to study its players. If you lose a life, not much. Lose all of them, and you get seizures. Finish the game, and it will tell you the truth. But there's number 3, one I personally think is both pretty great and prefer: Metal Sonic wearing Sonic's corpse, and killing everything in its path with either no goal at all, or a very discreet one.

Something that was made 10 years ago would become something big as the hedgehogs name would be changed to needle mouse to Sonic it surprises me how advanced everything has been coming this far for a game that released 30 years ago people who decided to make so much effort made it into so much of non-failure it’ll be such a surprise as they keep releasing the man and his new shows movies this legend might never end but how the storyline is made you have to literally think about how much work the Mandela catalog formed into this slow media that would game at the top of the hill of the dark side of KZfaq everything that’s been into this effort I got to say dude I can’t even see any more things like this is just too long but still like nobody ever got it would become this big from millions to billions to trillions everybody loves it fr bro.

What I think this story taught me was consensus of going down the path of revenge. Like Sarah over time it destroys you from the inside and over time you yourself has been consume by revenge until your not the same person anymore. But this is a good dive into Needlemouse series good vid.

I'm not going to lie, I haven't been a fan of analog horror for a while and I think it's a very oversaturated medium, but this series is a great use of the Sonic.exe source material if nothing else. I have a soft spot for the Sonic.exe story and find it nostalgic, so this series put a smile on my face while watching it and had me invested throughout the whole thing. What i actually love about some people is they actually made sense kinda, of the story, games like nightmare beginning, spirits of hell, and whisper of soul, tied the story more and more together with fun endings, it honestly felt like an overall polished games

I feel like I'm the only person that finds Sonic.exe scary haha. I get scared easily though. The story is dumb as hell, but so are most creepypasta stories. I just personally find distorted faces terrifying. Altered, deformed, distorted features, or a complete lack of features (thanks Slenderman) just scare the shit out of me. Also Sonic.exe just freaked me out as a kid, so it's possible it's just those feelings influencing me.

Fun fact: The name needlem0use got is from when sega were planning to make sonic a bunny but didn’t have the cash to do so, so they chose between a armadillo and a hedgehog, which is obvious what they chose but they named the hedgehog needle mouse but changed it to sonic shortly after

I really like the rephrase of the "i am god" line. The original line still leaves the idea of something changing in your favor, whereas the new line emphasizes hopelessness by implying that not even a god could change your circumstances.

While I can't deny that a considerable amount of effort was put into Needlemouse that's yielded a really great project(so far) I can't help but feel it's lacking in some way. It reads/watches more like a fanfiction, rather than feeling like an actual creepypasta. Perhaps this is because Needlemouse breaks outside the creepypasta format but it didn't do a lot to chill me to the bone. Is it interesting? Hell yes. But in terms of being scary it leaves a lot to be desired. I was terrified of Sonic EXE when it first surfaced(I was also like, 13 and stupid). In my opinion the reader/watcher/listener needs to feel personally threatened for it to be a truly scary pasta and we just don't get that here. Not to say i'm a fan of the cliche "YOU'RE NEXT" that a lot of pastas do at the end, but still. It's Luthor that's in trouble. It's tom that's almost killed. Comparing it to a more traditional creepypasta seems unfair. Because it's so much more than that. And I think it should be treated that way.

i think the theory of victims getting taken to the virtual world while being alive is cool ,and plausible. Because eggman's real counterpart seems in massive pain , panicked and distressed .Maybe the ghost can lure peole to the game and when they are inside it can do whatever it pleases to the unfortunate souls .They can feel the pain again and again and they can't do anything about it.

I sometimes wonder how people call it like an "analog horror gem", "disturbing" and "terrifyingly awesome" because it's not scary nor disturbing. It's just "haha spooky sonic with your average vhs face distortion jumpscare" and the story isn't that interesting. It's quite overrated.

@@nicestguyyoullevermeet4436 Yeah, I agree. If people are looking for a "analog horror gem" based off a videogame, I'd recommend TMK. It's fairly new, and doesn't go through the same tropes as most other analog horror series on YT.

I also love how the story makes it so difficult to root for one side. For example, you wanna root for Luther and the others because they were killed and were taken away from their families but it’s really hard due to the fact that they killed Sarah, hid her body in a lake, and didn’t tell anyone about her death. And especially with Sarah since even though she killed her friends including Kyle who had nothing to do her death and trapped their souls in a game to torture them forever but she only did it because she was taken everything away from her and especially Lily which… (Spoilers for this next part) We now learn that she’s not only her girlfriend but Sarah’s wife and Kyle is Sarah’s son meaning that she could’ve had a family if not for that fateful day (Especially since we also learned that Sarah was the one that wanted to adopt a son) Overall this is one of if not the best analogue horror story I’ve ever seen and rightfully earns being called my favorite horror series ever, You’re right about this being what sonic.exe should’ve it takes the unscary story of sonic.exe and turns it into something that is so sad, so tragic, and especially something that isn’t so black and white.

one thing i disagree is the "building up tention" part i found pretty much every episode boring, mainly because of how much text, empty time, and repeated "scares" there were the story, editing, and animation is good sure, but everything else i found pretty weak

I love this! Both this video and the webseries you talked about! It reminds me a lot of Walden files and the stories it tells are so fun!! Also the video itself was great, I loved the making theories as you go thing, even if it wasn't intentional, felt more grounded.

Personally, I don't believe Needlemouse is good. It's miles better than the original pasta, but the pacing is so slow, with really unintentionally funny scenes that ruin the tone of the series and overall just really weird writing narratives. not to mention the really annoying cliches

I watched this while at my dad’s right before we went out for dinner. You have no idea how scared shitless I was when I saw “Kernersville NC” I instantly took out my phone and made sure I didn’t live near the location. This isn't that much of a step up from sonic.exe The custom sprite work looks a little too goofy for my tastes, which was another problem sonic.exe had. Even when something like Walton looked goofy, it at least felt uncanny. I just don't know if something like analog horror can work for what is still a video game creepypasta. Like, i'm expecting something on par with NES Godzilla at least when it comes to presentation. The story is also rather uninspired, which granted, is a problem with a lot of video game creepypastas as well. The only stories that i remotely enjoy from the genre either do something inventive with the presentation (such as Petscop, Ben Drowned, or NES Godzilla), have some sort of ARG element to it (such as Catastrophe Crow or, again, Ben Drowned), or they convey an actual knowledge of the game they're covering and can thus write a somewhat immersive story (stuff like jvk1166z, MARIO, or Fallout 3: Numbers Station).

To be honest despite everything I find myself preferring the original Sonic.exe story over the others and even Needlemouse because unlike the other stories it doesn’t tell much the whole things a mystery we don’t know what the original Sonic.exe is are they a demon, a sentient virus, corrupted code, or even a ghost possessing the game I find the more you know about something the less scary it is but the other forms of Sonic.exe are still good

Like, seriously, it is so cheesy and it makes it more stupid in my opinion. I like the Analog Horror stuff that makes you think with imagery, but these are just like "Here ya go!". It just annoys me

@@karoid6409 yeah, I think the Creepypasta is unfairly hated at times. Like, is anyone gonna believe that some random disc is actually haunted? I know for sure I wouldn't believe it if I were in Tom's shoes. It's just people trying to be a smartass so they can tear into Sonic.exe in every possible way. The Creepypasta is still bad but some of it's ideas could've been really great and interesting if it wasn't executed badly. Sonic.EXE is bad but it deserves some justice, especially it's design. Idk about you but I love the design because of it's simplicity. It's why I prefer this more than any other EXE take because it doesn't have to be overly designed
