Great speakers - neutral but not cold, detailed, and a tight punchy bass. paired them with a micro3000 and I'm a very happy person. Music is beautiful, and bluetooth movie sound is tasty - you can hear and feel every bone crushed by the alien trash compactor - and speech is clear. The Play-fi app is OK-ish: The streaming is great, and takes the data load off your phone, but it is like 5 clicks to do something that should have taken 2 max. Like sending a 25cent text on an old flip phone or something. A journey in the wayback machine. Do wish SVS would implement Tidal Cast. They don't seem interested - we'll see. But you have the music world at your fingertips, a compact sound system that sounds big, and IMO - the things look great (piano black). I'm pretty amazed.

I had recommended the Edifier R2000DB for $330 to a friend instead of a $500 soundbar solution. It has 36 watts X 2 (bass) and 24 X 2 (treble) and 2 RCA, optical and bluetooth inputs. It sounds adequate for a 12 X 15 room and the bass goes down to 55hz. He got it for $250 during the Black Friday sale!

Nice! I'm guessing powered speakers will always beat a soundbar at the same price.

Yeah these are tempting but so is the prime wireless pro soundbase and bluesound powernode n330, a review of those 2 would be great! I wonder what you would pick of the two.
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
I think that would just come down to what you value more and if you want more flexibility (soundbase/powernode) or maximum convenience (prime wireless).
@chronicconditions5855
@chronicconditions5855 Жыл бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda Yeah convenience is unreal with pro powered bookshelf's, but out of the 2 compact amps powernode n330 and pro soundbase what would you pick for the better sound quality?
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
@@chronicconditions5855 Oh I couldn't say, I havn't heard either but I expect they'd be similar. A lot of the compact class D stuff seems to offer similar levels of performance.

How did these perform in your home theatre without a center channel. Was the dialogue clear without having to constantly adjust the volume?
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
Some content is more dynamic than others, your TV can also be a factor and room acoustics can play a factor here so your mileage may vary but for me these were great with dialogue, once I chose my volume level for a TV show, movie, or game I rarely found myself changing it.

All my experience with powered speakers are professional studio monitors, which aren't really comparable. These do look like a great solution for many people. *QUESTION OFF TOPIC: Do you have a video listing recommended DACs according to price range?
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
No, I don't really do "tier lists" and I'm not really a dac expert, I have reviewed a few but it's mostly been denafrips dacs. I like the sound of those so much I didn't even look anywhere else.

Can you share which soundbars you've listened to that were inferior to these speakers? Wonder if you have heard the Samsung Q990B, very well reviewed I'm torn between these two products. How far away do you sit from these speakers?
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
soundbars sound great for what they are, I don't recall the exact model numbers but I've heard various sound bars in the $1500 range from LG, Sony, Yamaha, and Samsung. They sound good for how slim they are and if that's what you want for sure get a sound bar but a pair of stereo speakers will almost always sound better. Even something super cheap like the Klipsch R50M paired with Arylic A50+ and Jamo C912 will sound better thats only $615.

I like these, but that's one ugly speaker with the grills off, lol. Nice review

bahahaha, yeah leaving the grills on is for sure the better look. They can look a little "mancave" with the grills off and then very clean/modern with the grills on.

If the holes for the speaker grille attachments were white, that could've helped.

In black, I think they look very purposeful, and they're beautifully finished. But beauty is as beauty does and these things are sweet.
