I bought these last year. I love them. I have them paired with a Rythmik L12 Sub and a Schiit Bifrost2 DAC. The sound fills the room with brilliance and presence. I also use them as practice speakers for DJ'ing in a more near field monitor style. Eventually I might upgrade to to KEF 350's, Wharfdale 4.1's or Bro 3's, but for my application right now I could not be happier :)

Great speakers. I bought two pair on Amazon, one pair at $88 and one at $118. I also modified them with the Neil Blanchard Designs crossover modifications ... while the speakers are very good stock, they are absolutely suburb with the Neil's crossover modifications. After the crossover mode, I'd rate them against speakers in the $1,000 range, i.e., they now sound every bit as good as my SVS Ultra bookshelves, and damn close to my Polk Legend L100s. Definitely worth the buy.

I miss the days when I could walk into an audio store and listen to lots of speakers. It's hard making Sound/$ calls these days. I actually owned a pair of Sony electrostatic hybrids that were amazing in the day! Again thanks for your very objective reviews of these. Some reviewers talk way more about the good vs. the bad. These vs. the Emotiva B1 vs. the Klispch rp500m II would be an interesting contest.

they're surprising for the price, when on sale everywhere for $99, they go down in price even more at best buy as open box got several pairs for $48 each to use for surrounds, but I gave some out as gifts, put them in my friends living room as inexpensive HT, they pair well with the jbl 530c center ($79 on sale) , connect to inexpensive av receiver, my friend absolutely loves them, I was surprised how good they sounded. I'm used to way higher end speakers, but for a small HT set up, they're decent, agree with you, way better than a sound bar.

I bit a couple years ago on these from Best Buy for like $68 during a X-mas sale. I think they are decent as well, for under $100 they are great lol. I agree that the higher frequency's are their sweet spot/selling point. Low or moderate volume and they are pretty cool..my issue with them are they have quite a bit of resonance, although it's mostly with the mid bass/bass so a non critical listener might mistake the resonance for bass lol. I still have them and purchased some schematics to upgrade the crossover and enclosure..I just haven't gotten around to pulling them out of the closet and doing the work. For me a speaker that sounds great for the price is the Polk R200 when on sale for around $570. I know it's quite a hike over $200 but it's a Solid balanced speaker. I find these have a certain magic when paired with a sub. These seem to be able to punch right through allowing a higher volume on the sub to really get deep and still sound nice. brooo you're not alone, I had a really hard time pairing the elac b5.2 with a sub, its rare but some speakers are really hard to pair with subs. So far for me its been the elac b5.2 and focal kanta no1. I have a theory that it has something to do with the port behavior.

I have limited space in the back of my room for surround sound. Is it possible to place these sideways (horizontally) as surround back speakers. How much would they affect sound quality, if any? @@NemoPropaganda The thing is, I got a great deal on the Sony 7.1 speaker set on Black Friday. The height of the surround back speakers were the only downside though, as the only way they can fit is horizontally. Even if I buy speaker mounts to place them on the wall, there are numerous cabinets in the way, and the only viable option is to place them sideways. From what I’ve researched, it doesn’t make that big a difference, except for the slight vertical/horizontal sound dispersion issues that may arise. Do you happen to know any other issues that may be present, or do you think this will be ok?

Loved hearing your perspective on these speaker. So I bought Sony;’s about 2 years ago but soon fell out of love with them. I can’t afford top end audio gear so I had them paired with a Sony STR-DH190 receiver and I thought they sounded incredibly flat even with a sub and I just wasn’t happy with what I was hearing. However, I recently swapped my Sony receiver for an Onkyo TX8220 and it has completely changed my mind about these speakers. They sound so much more open! In fact, I recently A/B’s them with Elac B6.2’s and I was really surprised at how much clearer and cleaner the Sony’s are. I sent the Elat’s back. I think there are only 2 downsides to the Sony’s 1) I don’t think they sound all that great with Vinyl. 2) They’re a little overly bright. However, IMO these are the best value for the money. Hands down. Cheers.

I picked up a pair of the SSCS5's to check it out for myself. At the $124 I paid for them, yes they are worth that price but at the $200 MSRP, not so much. At 50% volume and up, they lose their composure. They have a wobbly and loose sound, I think it is mostly due to the cheapness of the cabinet and the woofer is of poor quality, in particular the rubber surround is very fragile, thin and flimsy. It is cheap components, on a cheap speaker, and you get what you pay for and that's ok. However, in no way to they keep up with more expensive, reputable speakers. As far as sound bars go, I could not agree more, I would take these + an amp any day over a ~$1000 sound bar + sub.

I’ve never heard anyone say the Br0 2s sound like the Br0 3s, quite the opposite actually. I just sold my bro 2s. Killer tone but lack of clarity gets annoying eventually.

okay, that's what I'm running into, I find the BR02 to sound very good tonally but very closed off when comapred to the BR03, is that normal?
@100popsongs
@100popsongs Жыл бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda I have only heard the BR02, not the 3, but others have described the 2 as being a warmer, richer sounding speaker than the 3. So maybe that's just what you're hearing. Personally I really liked the smooth sound of the BR02 at first but it wore off me pretty quickly. It does sound a bit veiled and "closed off" as you put it.

the worst thing about this speaker is the tweeter’s poor horizontal directivity at the high frequencies. unless it’s pointing right at your ear the super tweeters are useless.

@@NemoPropaganda I understand using copyrighted music would get you flagged. Solution, use KZfaq free music. And yes nothing matches the fidelity of being there in person but believe it or not we can hear the difference when you A/B one speaker against another. @@martinalarconcarbajal417 Yes of course! How about the Triangle BR03 or KEF Q150 at $349? Triangle BR03 is more the low volume champion, easy to drive, bigger sound overall while the Q150 is a little harder to drive, bass boosted, and likes to play a little louder. Both are pretty good.

No - the CS just punches above its weight. The CS has a forward front end, but it actually presents clarity for the price, it doesn’t simply throw sound at your face (like some cheaper Klipsch/Jamos) They are this generations Insignia NS-B2111’s. (God those things imagined so well)
