Still, I think the lab in Cabin Fever 3 wins the title of "The worst lab". They not only allowed a person without any PPE to stay with a highly contagious patient, but also demanded that person to help to hold the patient, who was puking like a Boomer of L4D.

Bite checks are really only necessary for more slow-burning zombie viruses. With the rage virus, it becomes pretty apparent who is and isn't infected within a second or two of exposure.

@@Ringolero I have watched 28 Days Later, actually. And the sequel too. That stuff is damn near instant upon exposure. Dude gets a drop of blood in his eye and he's a rage-zombie in less than 30 seconds. Go ahead, watch the scene again and start the timer from the moment he gets it in his eye. In less than 30 seconds, he was having seizures, vomiting blood, and trying to attack people. I imagine it's even faster if you get bit. There's no room for ambiguity with an incubation time that short, and symptoms that obvious. Therefore checking for bites is pointless. You could just wait like two seconds for the seizures to start and know for sure, then get rid of them.

@Ringolero the incubation period would be over by the time you finished your "bite checks". OP is correct, just set your sites on the unknown for a minute and wait to see if symptoms appear. It's also far safer to keep a distance and wait than get close and look for bites. In other words, you'd eventually die due to being too slow to react when someone turns while you're looking at their leg.

Actually upon thinking about it I think "HELLO" at the end, while definitely taking more time and resources to make was WAY smarter to do than "HELP" or "SOS" During such an apocalypse one can only EXPECT a bunch of help and SOS signs, they are probably littered all over the place in the grand scheme of things, wherever survivers are. HOWEVER, whos to say they didnt get overrun? So many help or SOS signs are made in distress. Nothing points to there ACTUALLY being survivors there over a potential hotspot of zombies from a failed attempt at survivng in that location. Meanwhile, "HELLO" conveys something different. That there are survivors there, and more importantly *that theyre not in distress when making that sign*. Look all im saying is if i was flying overhead and saw people next to a "hello" sign and then saw a "help" sign two fields over... i know which one seems more plausibly safe at a glance
@user-lk2lf5ty8v
@user-lk2lf5ty8v 7 күн бұрын
My problem with that is that if one were to see a 'HELLO'-sign, they would most likely assume that this is not a sign of survivors at all but rather something from before the actual apocalypse, like remnants of some kind of commercial, and therefore ignore it altogether.

Theres more to it than that I think because every time Jim said "Hello" in the movie he was attackedhis "Hello" in the church & then "Hello" in the road side cafe with the kid...This time it was a silent "Hello"

One thing i noticed about this movie, the part in the beginning with the priest - When he is coming towards Jim, he is waving his arms, like he's saying 'get out' or 'get away' throwing his arms outward. There are a few other examples but i think the infected have a semblance of their former self, with is a really interesting horrifyingly subtle antagonist trait, props to D Boyle. When i was a teen this was still my favorite movie. I had a dream where i was running from the infected and ran and hid inside a barn. I went and hid on the second floor, which was a catwalk against the back of the barn, visible to the entire ground level. As I was hiding, one infected entered the barn, looked around for a moment, and went behind a hayble. Then just stayed there. Still twitching, drooling, and making zombie sounds. The infected had some intelligence, or control of themself, enough to hide and wait - even in the state of rage - to catch their prey. Which is what terrified me. Yotube comment doesn't do the horror justice but it's the best I can explain.

Sometimes I feel, that military in any kind of apocalypse (especially zombie kind) would be overwhelmed only when most soldiers would hesitate to shoot the danger, like some sort of very loud scandal, where a soldier would be prosecuted for lawfully discharging their issued rifle to stop some sort of threat, thus servicemen fearing also being harassed by the law would not dare to shoot the threat, not even if it would endanger their life.

Personally wouldn’t choose an enormous metal tourist attraction in the busiest part of London as my base of operations. The power is likely to be out, and there are likely to be hundreds of zombies in the HMS Belfast, tourists who were trapped onboard when the outbreak hit. Don’t feel like clearing out cramped and winding metal corridors in the dark, in an environment which carries sound extremely well.

The only idea I'd add to this is putting out signs when hitting nearby grocery stores, saying "Survivors on the Belfast" and maybe a time/place to meet on one of the bridges. Like "Survivors living on HMS Belfast as of [Most recent Date]. Access Ramps destroyed. Transport boats will be at London Bridge Mon/Wed/Fri at noon, Tower Bridge Tues/Th/Sat/Sun at noon. All welcome." If there are other survivors, it's likely that they'd also try to hit the grocers, after all. Granted it comes with the risk of attracting someone insane, but that's always a risk in extreme situations.

One thing I'd like to point out, even a suppressed rifle would be risky when running restocking missions. Since suppressors don't completely silence the gunshot, depending on the ammo used. Most people don't know about sub-sonic ammo, so chances are. They'd be using supersonic ammo, which still creates a loud crack once it leaves the barrel as it breaks the sound barrier.

Still waiting on 28 months :D The jet pilot at the end is definitely speaking finnish and bears the finnish air force insignia. This was very cool as a youngster when I first saw the movie, and i had to pause and rewind multiple times to come to terms with the fact that an english speaking movie has a Finland reference :D It's been a while since I last watched the movie, but if memory serves right, the pilot says: "Lähetättekö helikopterin?" which translates to. "Could you send a helicopter, please?" So the finnish audience got the 'Implied rescue ending' to the movie.

As a nursing student the most unrealistic part of this is him waking up without a catheter and a tube for fecal collection. Much less how they should have been changing out the IV.

You mean to tell me they stick a tube up your bum if you’re in a comma? And not use a diaper like the internent says

As for the IV, we don’t know exactly how long it had been since someone looked in on him. There could have been a nurse taking shelter inside the hospital that kept his linens and IV’s fresh, but eventually either got killed or made a break for it a day or 2 before he woke up. The key slid under the door infers that there was at least someone who cared about him. I also agree that he should’ve had a catheter at the very least. But, that could probably be explained away by the director not wanting to waste time with a scene of Jim yanking those tubes out of his butt and penis. I doubt there’d be a way to make that look cinematic, lol.

Is the "Hello" maybe a way of saying "Don't blow is up, we aren't zombies but also don't save us because we're fine and last time we were 'saved' it was for ulterior purposes"

I appreciate you mentioning the whole "over running the military " thing. I've always said that. At least in this movie and some others, they're fast moving and erratic. But if they moved like they do in say the walking dead, it would be controlled relatively quickly. There would be a lot of lives lost, but it wouldn't reset civilization.

In one of the 28 days later novels, a survivalist/survivor comment on the fact that the infected are attracted to soap, perfume and shampoo smells. This is also how he get dispatched of an another survivor who hunt him. The protagonist throw a bottle of perfume on the survivor military jeep while he's retreating, and in seconds a horde of infected jump on him .

Jim going beast mode on those soldiers at the end of 28 Days Later is actually one of my favorite scenes. It's amazing, brutal, and a nice finisher for Jim's character arc.

I think they put Hello to signal they are alive and normal. Any rescuer would have seen thousands of Help and SOS only to see infected nearby or corpses everywhere

I never noticed but totally agree there should have been blood & bodies EVERYWHERE! Also their not vampires, so why didn't they come running when he screamed AND set off a car alarm! I love this movie but you definitely brought up some plot holes that will forever bug me. 😂

i firmly believe most horror writers in Hollywood do self inserts for protagonists, and that they would actually do the things these movies protagonists do. i think they dont realize theyre writing remarkably stupid decisions because its what they would actually do. makes these movies much more believable.
