They make highly train military people look like its there first day on the job or its there first time picking up a gun cuz lets be honest if they had actually common sense and knew what the hell they were doing they would of never lost that many soldiers(to be fair thay were fighting mutated lizard people) but that doesn't skip the fact they did almost everything wrong

Do you know how disappointing it is that they didn't at least make the military unit a SEAL platoon? Think about it- then it would be American Frogmen versus Soviet frog men. I bet the story would be have strange, dark, and mysterious enough to bring John B Allen in as the leader. Hell, he could even consult on set regarding the experience of being pelted by a grenade over a wall... That would have been epic.

Once again, I am reminded of how piss-poor The USSR was at their jobs of containment. They had a bunker full of *Alien Communist French Lizard Vampires* and they didn't think to instantly detonate a nuclear warhead down there and been done. Nyet Comrade. i’m guessing that due to the nature of the locks as well as the fact there were bodies and a hastily spray painted warning i reckon that whoever locked that place up was a (or a couple) survived who had managed to escape the bunker. As for why the USSR didn’t return there are plenty potential reasons for it. The survivors were killed by locals, died due to the heat, decided that it was better to try to live someplace else then risk being executed back home etc

I laughed so hard when right after the Major gave his huge speech about defending everyone and fighting till the end, then almost immediately pulls out a grenade, and unnecessarily sacrifices himself. Like, he was thinking ah shit I promised too much and have to get out of this situation somehow.

It's pretty common for a firearm in the opening scenario to be "aircraft" loaded, which is simply safety-off, round unchambered. This is done because firearms used to be more volatile and aircraft much more rocky. Too much whoopsie pew pew. Nowadays, probably just carry the best way you can because we don't have those problems anymore.

What I don't get is why they're letting the prisoner, who they're actively at war with have a weapon. Sure the circumstances are insane, but who's to say as soon as their backs are turned he won't mow them down and take the base?

In the movie, the prisoner claimed that he was forced to work for Taliban, and he never killed anybody. Of course, it can't explain why those Talibans would not bring him into the bunker to be meatshield, but let him be the rearguard for them with a rifle on the ground with cars.

One idea to flee / escape. Hide by the Lair incase combatants show up, ambush them. And take their vehicles (or the fuel from the vehicles). Easy way to get as FAR as you can, from the death bunker. Could have also sealed the bunker up or slammed a jeep into the doors to make it a mangled metal trap. Lizards would have one hell of a time with it.
