I remember when my family got Beyond the Pale on CD and we listened to it on a road trip. My mom had to pull over because she couldn't stop laughing. None of us could. To this day we have inside jokes and references to that very special and built into our vocabulary. His tired and oafish delivery, all his different kind of whiney, condescending voices, especially when he heckles himself, it's all locked into my mind and it really helped shape my sense of humor. I've since listened to all of his specials and consider them some of my favorites, where if I start it I finish it and still enjoy every minute. He's just so good

Love that he heckles himself. His self deprecating humor is always funny. No cussing nor graphic sexual stuff to grab the laugh.

There's always someone saying some version of that in every comment section of every comedian who doesn't say "fuck" on stage. The two are unrelated, okay? Sweary comedians can be funny or unfunny, and non-sweary comedians can be funny or unfunny. I've seen plenty of both. It doesn't take EXTRA talent to be funny without swearing, either. Nor is swearing some kind of comedy handicap. You religious American types really need to stop placing such importance on swear words. They're just words. Use them, don't use them, it doesn't matter.

That's why I notice the difference between what people say, and what they mean, and when someone says they' ve seen a lot of comedians and Jim is right up there at the top of his game, while is COMPARING Jim to other comedians, he is the best in his field. To state that he is "right up there at the top of his game" implies a single performance. Now, go sit in the corner.

Jim, just saw you on the CBS morning show and you were troubled by so many parents writing in to say their kids fell asleep listening to your comedy. When they, or anyone listens to your comedy the pressures of every day life life (and even horrors)slip away into laughter and a state of happiness, and soul cleansing calm transitions into easy slumber and likely happier dreams . I can’t think of a greater compliment that of a child into slumber. Especially in today’s world.

I love watching this guy. He doesnt need to write jokes his take on everyday things is just hilarious. He can go on and on about one thing then even jokes about the fact that hes going on and on about it. I also love how he uses that "inner voice of an audience member" voice. its so funny.

Why, why, why do people refer to the inner voice crap. It is NOT an inner voice for crying out loud, it is Jim imitating a crowd member's voice in a supposed whisper to another audience member, possibly a date, a husband, a friend, but it is pretty obvious, what is doing. OBVIOUS!

He was, by far, the funniest comedian I’ve ever heard. So talented to be the best without using any profanity. Kids would be able to be in the room. I just tried to watch the most recent one….I wanted to cry. Come back Jim! Your unparalleled humor is needed.

I thought Gaffigan was brilliant about 5 - 7 years ago and then his last special or two were just ok. What amazes me about him is that this special is great. He continues to work on his game even after so many years of success. Highly recommend this if you haven't seen the whole thing yet.
