If you've been living with quadriplegia from a spinal cord injury (SCI) or with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), you may qualify for the PRIME Study.
Watch this video and visit our website to learn more and to submit your application:
neuralink.com/patient-registry/
-
The PRIME Study (short for Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface) - a groundbreaking investigational medical device trial for our fully-implantable, wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) - aims to evaluate the safety of our implant and surgical robot, and assess the initial functionality of our BCI for enabling people with quadriplegia to control external devices with their thoughts.
This study involves placing a small, cosmetically invisible implant in a part of the brain that plans movements. The device is designed to interpret a person’s neural activity, so they can operate a computer or smartphone by simply intending to move - no wires or physical movement are required.
This research will be the first of its kind to be performed in people and may help us find safer, more effective ways to implant and use our BCI to potentially restore and enhance computer control and other capabilities.

I watched my Mom slowly degrade from ALS for 10 years. The hardest part was communication. This was 25 years ago. We talked with a letter board I had created. I learned that in the English language there are only so many words that follow certain words. Once we were in a subject then we could "talk" for hours. She could hear just fine, she couldn't express and knowledge externally. I could hold her hand and feel the directions she wanted to be guided to. Her eyes would declare Yes/No. Neuralink would have been a blessing because as her muscles quit working her mind was quite vivid until the very end.

Sorry to hear what happened to your friend. Must be hard and I want to see this chip do amazing things for people who need help. I read many things that AI is gonna take over jobs and more . We as a species need to merge with AI so this doesn’t happen. However, I would say it’s one’s matter of choice if they want to of course. Ray Kurzweil says we should merge with AI because than we can enhance ourselves and any issues happening in our brain whether its a mental disorder or physical issue that can be fixed. Hopefully these upgrades come out soon. We’ll see what the future of this Neuralink chip enables us to do. I am excited and I hope it does amazing things for humanity🥳🤩 Just wanted to add that if this Neuralink chip can provide a utopia that can be inserted in our minds that would be just so amazing. The majority of people who suffered from any trauma or anything serious can finally experience bliss and inner peace in their mind/brain:)

Ask the person like me 27 years young I was 18 when I met with an accident and it broke my neck and left me paralyzed below my neck now I typing with single index finger which is only mobility i have... Sometimes I wish I would've died on that accident since I'm totally dependent on my mother and she's a mascular distrophy paitent too and got her brain tumor opration in 2019 and she barely walk... She feed me she brush my teeth and of course all' the bathroom stuff everyone have abandoned me except her .. life is not having mercy on me wouldn't I trade everything to be able to at least take care of myself?? Yes this is not good for normal person but for disabled people it would second life if it succeed.💜 I wish you good 🙏

Don't lose hope! I'm in a similar situation I'm 36 & was paralyzed in 2017 I only have use of my right arm, my girlfriend & my grandparents is all I have in this world. She has a full time job & it's hard on both of us & my grandparents are in their 80s and aren't able to help. I went through a long depression and wondered why God didn't take me like he did so many of my friends and family even my mom. Everyday has its struggles but when I get depressed I think of children that are born with disabilities & never get to have the experiences we enjoyed. Never feel sorry for yourself, you didn't die that day for a reason you have a purpose in this world even if u can't see it or understand it yet. Trust me as much as u need your mother she needs u as well. Trust me I know the pain of having to depend on someone for everything but always remember Your a warrior! Many people couldn't manage the struggles we deal with daily but here we are pushing on day after day. God bless u I pray u find happiness 🙏

It first goes public, then extended use to enable people to replace limbs, then full body controls, then general everyday use with minuscule body modifications then gaming as in VR type. Nobel worthy for having enough comprehension to teach or at least point to the entanglement of civilization through the infrastructures built with a standard. Occult for example.

I wonder if this could be linked up to an AI voice generation system so people that can't talk/communicate actually can again via thought, there's some amazing voice generation capabilities out there now, just a matter of interpreting the thought and turning it into voice, shouldn't be too hard 😂 one can dream! Even though this tech is amazing, I'm sure it's still super frustrating to have to think to move a pointer around to select letters to type when you just have what you want to say already in your head.

My Daughter is Autistic child and non-verbal. I would love to enroll her for trials if there is some kind of device created to create audio from brain thoughts...Hope patient registry is opened up for under 18year old patients too.

I want to be a part of this! Though I understand this first wave of trials is to help those with mobility and neurological needs, I can’t help but look forward to the possibilities of when this device is open to clinical trial for the hearing impaired and other health conditions. The future for this device is so promising.

How does the device distinguish between "consideration" to act, "intent" to act, and "committing" to act? Let's imagine I have "thought" something into the KZfaq search bar, and I am presented with 5 video suggestions. While I am looking at the thumbnails, titles, likes, view counts of the 5 suggestions, I may inadvertently imagine selecting one of the videos, as I consider which of the 5 suggestions I will begin with. So I guess I'm asking, what is the point of no return on committing a particular action, rather than simply considering an action?

The potential for it to be cool is there, but you'd have to be in REAL rough shape to sign up for the first one.
