I’ve had the T5 for about 3 years. Really great knife. It’s the most comfortable handle of all the knives I have and it just feels great in the hand.

I had researched several knives before purchasing the T5 6 months ago. Your review was very helpful but other reviews were also positive and justified my research. After using it for 6 months I'm pleased to report that this is a remarkable knife. Processed 2 deer last fall and it maintained it's incredible edge. Note: I reconfigured the edge to 22 1/2 degrees and it is now more useful than the factory edge. The handle is very comfortable and doesn't create hot spots. I purchased mine from Chicago Knife Works for $137 and free shipping. I highly recommend this fixed blade beauty!

I heard Pete from Cedric & Ada outdoors changed the blade angle on a system, but after convexing the factory edge. I think more often we should really look at and work on the edges of our knives, at least our favorites there's buried performance that people say is metal fatigue on factory edges. We have ( many of us) so many new knives to try that we never get deeper than the factory edge

Lionsteel makes a good product. The Italians do a lot with the little details that other manufacturers haven't picked up on. I was also looking at this knife. Would love to see a review 6 months from now to see how you still like it.

I love Lionsteels, but in classic Italian fashion the style of their knives tend to take priority over function and their quality can be inconsistent. That hasn't stopped me from buying them and I've been fortunate with the quality so far. I have this exact T5 but I haven't had the occasion to use it as hard as he does in the video... happy to see the functionality is there along with the style.

You got it!! It's why I bought the M7 at a local army surplus. I was looking at knives & the Micarta taco caught my eye. I'd never heard of Lionsteel but now I'm a fan & own 3 of their products--the M7, the integral folder with rotolock, & the T.R.E.. The quality is there & they are a great value, probably bc they aren't well known & want to make a splash in the US market. I would like to add you are correct: the girth of the handle matters. I bought a Gerber Strongarm & it didn't feel right in my large hands, so I bought a Tops Backpackers Bowie & that's right in my hands but the rusting is problematic. It rusts if you look at it.

Nice review! I really like this knife, I have had my eye on it for a while for the same purposes you described. The Lionsteel knives are great, I like their simplicity and the fit/finish and ergonomics are great. Personally I have their M4 and M1, both mainly used for hunting. The M1 goes in my kill kit and I purchased it mainly for caping, but it’s such a good knife even being so small. Last year I field processed my entire mule deer buck with it doing the gutless method, worked great! Definitely going to think about adding this one to my collection.

I have been using this exact model T5 this year and I love it. I describe it as a 5" tactical knife grown up. It's still a thiccc full tang but Lion Steel did an awesome job on the machining making it light without sacrificing strength. That tall grind adds so much usability that a chonky tactical or survival knife just doesn't have. The lack of overly aggressive jimping is very much appreciated. I don't need a bike sprocket to rest my thumb on, that quickly gets very uncomfortable. The reduced weight is much appreciated. The handle, the sheath, the machining, it's just a quality package all around. Then the icing on the cake is the Niolox steel. D2 is good stuff but add in extra toughness and really good stain resistance, can't go wrong.

G'day Aaron, looks a very good 5 incher. Nice approach to a handle, I've used the same technique to reuse a full sized axe handle, on a full sized, but re profiled axe head, ending up much like a Granfors forest axe, but all wood on pinned wood construction, if that make sense. Very strong solution, this knife should be no exception, but curious as to how much tang is actually under there. Cheers Duke.

I like sharpening choils in general, but that XXL one is a joke. Not only does it weaken the structure of the blade, it also wastes precious edge length near the handle where it counts most. I'm also not a fan of the tang sticking out of the handle cutout. It's an uncecessary source of hotspots.

It's a beauty. Nice camp knife. Would like to get me a kydex sheath for it though.

Awesome knife! Now you're into European knives (Joker, LionSteel); Extrema Ratio Selvant, Manly Blaze, MKM Jouf, all different knives, but all excellent in different tasks. Greetings from the Netherlands

Great video 👍 can you strike a fire steel on the flat part of the spine where you can place your thumb? I read somewhere you cannot?

Nice looking knife. Blade profile appears similar to my "Bushcraft" knife except my blade is slightly longer and wider. Distal taber with a Saber grind. Rockwell C 56-58. Very tough SV90 steel. The downside is the it is difficult to resharpen. The upside is it's edge holding ability. Your criticism of the Buck 120 is odd in my opinion. My Buck 120 about 35 years old and has seen lots of tough "bushcrafting" without any serious damage. My approach to bushcraft appears to be much different than yours. I carry sufficient lightweight equipment when entering the woods. Real life rarely presents truly life threatening survival challenges. I always carry a small axe (boys axe) in the woods. It is compact with excellent versatility. I carry 3 different knives a folding saw with my axe and knives. I could actually build a small cabin if needed.

I'm guessing you meant s90v instead of sv90. 56-58 hrc is pretty low for that steel, who's the maker?

I’m like you I would probably go with the Buck 119. Although the General would have its usefulness in the outdoor activities that I do.

Trying to decide between this Lionsteel T5 and a White River Ursus 45....any thoughts? Both are sitting on my table but i am not sure which to keep....i am only keeping one. Looking for a blend of bushcraft and survival capabilities. Help.
