The new 2019 Audi TTRS is a tuners dream. This is my first drive review of the new 2019 Audi TTRS and as audi are celebrating 25 years of RS its fitting that i start reviewing RS models starting with the all new Audi TTRS. The TTRS is a car i have always loved and a car i was close to buying! This Audi TTRS has 400ps and an acceleration of 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds. That is blisteringly quick. The thing with the Audi TTRS platform however is that tuners love these. The amount of power you can get from a TTRS once tuned is crazy. over 500 bhp with an APR stage 2 tune and it will do a quarter mile of just 9.8 seconds. That is so fast. I love how audi have developed the TT over the years and this RS model is stunning and i loved driving it! I hope you enjoy this review / first drive!

Excellent video Stef. I'm a massive TT fan and really love the new TTRS. Its a totally stunning car and is definately an amazing package. I'd love to get one but it always comes down to total practicality. Cant wait to see more.

Just ditched my AMG for a TTRS. I considered many cars, but you just can’t beat the power and grip of the TTRS, especially in the UK where it’s often damp and cold, but the TTRS still gets all the power down. It’s the best car I’ve owned, I prefer it over a 911 and R8. You’re spot on with everything in this video.

What a slick production, like the heart beat introduction Stef! Mad skillz production. I will still go for the 4C or stick with my analogue preference of cars. The TTRS is a hell of a sexy car but it sounds synthetic, mutted and would perhaps feel over computer aided when driving. A sports car is mainly about the drive, the sensation and the emotion. However, That interior is on a different level, sumptuous luxury so synonymous with the Audi brand, I can see why you recommend it as a good daily compared to the fiery Alfa 4C, just like wife and the mistress comparison.

Technically speaking it’s a mark 2 TTRS - there’s only ever been 2 versions. I have an 18 plate also. Great aren’t they 😃

I actually prefer it to an R8. It’s got much more usable power, especially in our road conditions in the Uk.

That climb to 175mph was on comfort mode too, not dynamic. :)

Aash Unce makes no difference when you floor it, all dynamic does is stiffen up the steering and suspension. The acceleration is the same on all modes when you plant your foot

@@glenclough9080 Dynamic mode is where it is programmed to deliver the best performance it can. This statement is taken from Audi. This means quicker gear shifts and throttle response. Tested out in my Audi. Can confirm.

Aash Unce I own a pre facelift TTRS mate as long as the gearbox is in S mode the power delivery makes no difference what more you’re in.

@@glenclough9080 all new Audis have an acceleration over-ride once you press the throttle enough to trigger the sensor. Near flooring it you feel a 'click'. That click is an engine management over ride to force the car to do it's most aggressive acceleration mode. I had to study modules sent by Audi when I was selling them. These switches are across the entire line up. It's basically a "floor it" button that the pedal hits. Sometimes you just need all the ponies!

I own a pre facelift MK3 TTRS and had a test drive of the new facelift last week. I can definitely tell you it’s lost a lot of the pops and bangs and feels a little slower weirdly. However I love the new spoiler

Completely agree, love the new spoiler, miss the sound and the drop in power. I’ll keep my pre facelift a little longer. It’s a brilliant car isn’t it.

I looked at one of these as a daily driver....but after seeing the rear leg room and limited head room I thought it was only practical as a two seater. Guess I will stay with my GMC Acadia Denali for my daily family mover. When I want style and fun it is always my 4C LE. After 4 years it is still fantastic fun car. Hopefully Audi is getting better at making their cars less of a under steering car.It has always seemed that the handling just isn't there although the engines are very nice. But while any car can be fast and powerful....there are a lot more things it needs to do to get my attention....like handling, sound, gorgeous looks, and hopefully a timeless design.

They work on removing the understeer to a point, and only to a point because if they actually do get rid of it then they step directly on Porsche...and that's not allowed.

There is a ton of headroom in the ttrs . More than s3 & rs3 . One of the reasons I chose the car.

pretty much the same size as the mark 2.Space back there is useless if they are taller than 5'7.I'm 5'8 and I would suffocate back there.The head room is the biggest problem in my opinion.But pretty useful to carry 2 friends for a short trip, max 30 minutes or they would get scoliosis

Damn straight, It is a shame that cars are getting quieter from the factory ... but yes i'd always take a car actually existing which you can then mod the exhaust on if you so wish, than it never existing at all! At some point in the future we will all be driving quiet electric cars anyway so might as well enjoy what we have now, even if it isn't quite as wild sounding as past generations!

They won't have 2L engines. This is Audi's most historic engine and it will probably never go away from the brand unless everything goes electric.

Just pick up a MK2 TT RS. Have some manual transmission fun, albeit .3 sec slower 0-60, but for half the price.

No way. The mk2 TT RS is very dated when compared to a mk3. I owned a mk2 TT RS and the mk3 TTS (yes, the S version, not RS) is as quick (if not quicker), handles WAY better and looks WAY better. Interior wise, no contest with the mk3. So, the mk3 TT RS, which I now have, is a massive improvement on the mk2 TT RS, which was always a bit of 'let down' car to me - mk3, definitely not! Albeit sound wise, my new car is a bit muted, so will be sorting that with some tuning... manual box? Who cares - the auto is so good, a manual just seems pointless to me.

A tuner with one extra cylinder. My dream car By the way, it sounds like a V10 because it is half of a V10. The V10’s sound is based on two 5 cylinder heads. 10 cylinders, one crank, two heads, 2 sets of DOHC, 2 sets of valves. That’s why the exhaust manifold from a gallardo will fit the engine block of a Volkswagen in-line 5 perfectly

Yeah, probably thrashes it in 0-60, quicker 1/4 I believe. Better infortainment system, all weather capable, bigger tuning potential, looks better (I appreciate this is subjective!) and sounds better, again subjective!

Zazu for tuning you can achieve 520 cv. With Alfa easy 620. Acceleration 0 to 200 km Alfa is faster. O to 100 are similar. Infotainment better Audi. On track much better Alfa. TTRS is ultra understeering.

M B Yes but the Alfa is 503bhp standard compared to 400 on the TTRS, both get similar gains on remap if your figures for the Alfa are accurate. But TTRS is not similar 0-100 though, stage 2 easily get 2.8 seconds, and low 10s 1/4 mile. What you have to remember is although the Alfa has more power it’s also heavier and rwd. TTRS lighter, 4wd. For a more purist drivers car yeah possible the Alfa due to rwd and 50/50 balance. But there is little understeer on the new TTRS, the Mk2 TTRS, yeah quite a lot but the new one, a lot less!

Facelift noise neutered thanks to WLTP, the engine is still the highlight. But despite the mighty engine and the beautiful build quality the TTRS is still fitted with one of the most aloof, uncommunicative chassis known to man. This trait was almost endemic in past Audi RS models (R8 excepted), not helped by 4wd and the engine been so far forward in the chassis. This probably reached its zenith in the first RS3, a car which felt like its steering rack was manufactured in wood. Performance is intoxicating no question, but honestly if you want some fun with your raw speed back to back an M2 Comp or a Giulia Quadrifoglio with a TTRS, it will be revelatory. Might be fractionally slower getting to your destination but you'll have a bigger grin on your face.

Mark Phillips. My opinion is based on having driven all of the motor cars I have mentioned. I’m lucky in that I’m in the motor trade and get to drive few cars so my opinion is totally objective and not influenced by emotion. I stand by everything I have said previously. It’s not by accident that most of the unbiased reviews posted by professional journalists in the press pretty much concur with the comments I have posted. But I’m sure you will enjoy your car irrespective of the groundswell of opinion outlining the issues I have mentioned. Horses for courses.

You’ve never driven a TTRS guaranteed. Having driven all of those cars the TTRS more than holds its own. I bought one over every car you mention.

@@Captainrave I have driven two to date. One standard wheels the other on 20”. Both were the aloof, inert and wooden but the one with 20” wheels had an extra layer of brittle ride quality. As I stated originally it is significant the vast majority of motor journalists concur about the dynamics of the TTRS. Subtle and communicative it is not. Your comments are obviously subjective, you did after all purchase one but if you want a comparison go and drive the 2022 RS3 to see Audi can make a chassis a little entertaining.

Getting a lot of facts about this car wrong and FFS, stop calling it insane. That fuckwit from SC of London keeps saying that. Don't stoop to his level please.So, this 'review' is OK if the sound is turned off... I've actually got a Glacier White TTRS sport ed on order, although mine will have alcantara seats and I'm losing those wheels for some Eta Beta's in black... going to swap out the exhaust as well, as this car sounds very muted compared the pre-facelift version.
