I like it. The colours are good and it's got lots of nice features without the bells and whistles that some people simply aren't bothered about. Softer tunes are better and more relaxing on bikes made for touring. Thumbs up from me. And if you don't like this model then at least you get the choice of the 900. Rather several models than one 'like it or lump it' option. As for optional extras, folk like me, who wouldn't buy options would be able to get a cheaper bike. Others can add exactly what they want. I can't see much of a problem.

Was hoping to see an 850 version of the 1050 Sport with upgraded street styling. This is a detuned Tiger 900 with scrambler tires and a price way out of reach for new riders. Swing and a miss.

@@petersabou I agree. Missed opportunity in my opinion. And do new riders really buy a 900 class bike and have it restricted? Can’t be that many. Seems like a cynical ploy by Triumph to direct potential customers towards the higher spec (more profitable) models.

I rode the BMW 750 GS, loved it except the seat was painful. I owned an R1250RT and had to immediately buy an expensive aftermarket. I previously rode a Tiger 800 and loved it. Stock seat was great. I would probably lean Triumph for tripple engine and comfort.

Great news . Talking to one dealer in the know about Triumph in the USA he said there were just a handful of base model Tigers brought into the USA this year .He may have said 6 but I can't remember at this point ...Triumph USA is not interested in the lower proffit margin market I am guessing . I am hoping the 850 Sport is given a chance over here at any rate .. With the GT starting at $14,300.00 and the bace not even offered (originally online here at $12500.00 ) $2K is nothing to sneeze at ... No matter what I would still personally add a center stand ,skid plate and heated grips so maybe the GT :)

I'm happy they painted the subframe black. I hate that the other ones that look like they bolted a ladder on back. New colors are cool too. The marketing is crap though. It sounds like this one actually makes a little more power over a shrunken rpm range. They must be thinking that cutting the revs by a grand up top spares the valve train wear as maintenance has increased to 10k mile intervals. Anyway, more power at lower rpms is actually less mangable. The old bike is likely more manageable i.e. less powerful at normal operating conditions. The original only gets more powerful near the peak of its powerband. Personally, on road bikes, I prefer the meat in the middle of the rpm range where I tend to do the vast majority of my riding. I also like that it doesn't come with all the expensive whiz bang gadgetry that I have no use for and no desire to pay for. I'm a fan.

Beetween a Tiger 850 Sport 2021 & a BMW 750 GS 2021 for similar price, no doubt i would buy the Tiger 850 Sport. But i am already very happy after 7000 km with my Tiger 900 GT 2020. Im not sure about “Sport” name, i think it would have been more appropriate to call it Tiger 850 STR (for Street). Good marketing strategy from Triumph to try to make their base version of the Tiger 900 more attractive. Better stock tires on the 850 Sport (Michelin Anakee Adventure) compare to the stock tires of the GT & GT Pro (Metzeler Tourance Next).

If I'm reading their website correctly the low setting for the adjustable seat (how is an adjustable seat and handlebars not on every motorcycle over 4 digits?) is only 31.88" tall, and THEN there's a 20mm lower seat, which I assume would make the low seat height only 31.1" tall. That alone will draw a lot of beginner and intermediate riders who don't feel quite confident yet without feet on the ground. On top of that the ability to raise it back up quickly and easily as they improve or need to. Very nice. Only downside . . . this should have come with Cruise Control standard (and a less weird display for rpm). I may grab one eventually. Great looking bike :D

Ahh my bike show replacement fix ! :-D I like the red colour scheme . No surprise for me ! Calling it "Sport" seems a bit silly. Maybe "Tiger 850 S" would have been a better ( or just "Tiger 850" ) . i.e. like other bikes in Triumph's range. I get why it's had the power limited, get some A2 riders interested. For me , I really still prefer the fairing on the current Tiger Sport 1050cc, plus I prefer the 120 degree crank. All that bike needs is a new TFT and a red colour scheme. Hope they don't "T-plane" the crank on the 1050cc. I like the smoothness of the 120 degree crank.

Great video, thanks. This is not a new bike just a tuned down bike to fit a new/different market, dont get this at all. Still wating for a real sporttourer like the 1050. But everytime the release/if a sporttourer they always go upp in cc to match the competitors and then you suddenly have a super charged (almost) machine thats to pricy to buy and insurance. So who wants that. Go instead for a good stable sporttourer that handles well in weight and loadcapacity without to much electronic specs to reduce the price. Just have to wait for that day. Meanwhile what happends to the 900 GT Pro for 2021? Any changes? New/better colours?

I'm so sorry! But!!!! Triumph is the same as the successful country singer who goes to the entrepreneur's conversation and starts to sing Rock and Jazz to please more audiences, in my opinion, an 800 and a 1200 with good footprint and cutting edge technology would be more interesting. An 850? 900? and 1200? it was even stranger at 850 with a trimmed and reduced engine. I am of the opinion of Bruce Lee - It is better a fighter who trained a thousand times, one type of kick than a fighter who trained a thousand types of kick. Want a tip? Put all the weight of the bike as low as possible to be more maneuverable at low speed and light in curves.
