This is another video in my series “New Forest Walks” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I explore the area around King's Hat - located about 3 miles to the West of Dibden & 7 miles to the South East of Lyndhurst.
My 3 mile circular route starts & finishes at the Forestry Commission car park at King's Hat and initially takes me South West over the River Beaulieu & past Starpole Pond. After a gradual climb up the side of Gurnetfields Furzebreake, I head North to visit a monument known as the Carter Memorial from where I enjoy some stunning views.
I then head Eastwards, through some woodland and back over the Beaulieu River and past a Bronze Age burial cemetery (consisting of 6 round barrows) before heading back to the car park.
At the end of the video, I get to introduce my new puppy (“Fiver”) to viewers. I expect that he will be making some guest appearances on future walks.
I was using my Gopro Hero 8 Action Camera for the first time and had the Image Stabilization set at "Standard" rather than "Boost". With future videos, I think I will use "Boost", even if it does slighting crop the picture.

I use either a GOPRO HERO 7 Black or Hero 8 Black Action Camera (sometimes with a Gimbal) & a Rode microphone (either a “Shotgun” or a Rode Wireless Go) together with a Canon Powershot SX530 HS.
