Oh, trust me Sewer, the gatekeeping crap isn’t allegorical in the Thomas fandom. The Star Tugs Trust (or Tugs: The Exhibition) have had the actual reel in their possession for a time, as they have ties to Mattel. Another member, codenamed TomsProps, is also believed to have information on the pilot, if not, a copy of the reel itself. For being made up of 30-40 something adults, a lot of fandom members are pretty immature with the memorabilia they think they own.

To say how excited I was when I sure the image would be an understatement. This image does also seem to confirm that the pilot did have 'flatter lighting and simpler sets'.

The gatekeeping is a real thing in this fandom... I won't name names, but there are those in this fandom that either have the pilot in their position, or more information about this piolet. And it's really sad they can't be mature and share

9:35 this is actually kinda crazy, not to get anyone's hopes up but I vaguely remember seeing on my TV many years ago when I was about 3-4 a shot of Thomas that looked like it was from the series 1-7 outro where Thomas was in the yard with credits on the right, anyhow, I remember that shot as if it was a regular episode but for some reason there was a female narrator, now this was strange to me as I was familiar with Ringo and angelis voices (mainly angelis' as it would have primarily been on dvd at the time) but this couldn't be possible as there never was any female narrator for the official series, but the dvds that I did watch quiet alot were 'Truck Loads of Fun dvd' that had season 1 and there was the 'Classic Adventures dvd' but I don't really recall any female narrator, going back to the scene I remember Thomas was in the yard like in the end credits and there was the female voice, I can't remember the words but they were 100% UK English, next minute Thomas was blasted with quarry dust and his surprised face appeared on him and the scene ended, I'm not sure if I combined the shot from the outro and the shot from TATMR in my head but it seemed very real, but as for the female voice, I wonder if I had selected a different language by accident but I'm really not too sure as this was like 14-15 years ago but it could have been something I made up in my toddler aged brain or it was some sort of bonus feature, however, I asked my mum a couple of years ago and she never recalled what I saw, but this does sound odd the more I think about it and compare it to the pilot.

Hopefully we get the full pilot next year cuz they said they were gonna release it for the 80th anniversary.

15:15 Those bumps on the bridge are posts/pillars adjoining the sections of wall on the bridge. Apart from being decorative, they also help with sharing the load of any force put on the wall, since stacked stones and/or bricks aren't really that resistant by themselves to pressure put against them, mainly at the base(in short, without those pillars, brick and stone walls would be likely to fall over if pushed).

It's been said many times that the general public wouldn't see certain pieces of media, but we've recovered two missing episodes of Dads army and multiple Doctor Who serials (along with several episodes) from the 60's/70's, and lost Tugs from the 80's. so I think it is still possible that the Down the Mine Pilot episode is out there somewhere.

One thing that could be possible is that the image could be false but a really well made false example. Why/how? The creator could have made the scene himself with a simple circle track or perhaps a circle track and a separate rail and made a digital picture wich was printed then scanned back into a digital format or made a basic photo like a polaroid then scanned it into a pc and then blown up causing the blurry bits
