Re Leon Balogun, I'm sick of Bears saying "aye but look at his age, he's 35 for gods sake". Davie Weir was, what, 40...41, when he retired? Yet he looked just as good as he did at 30. If a player looks after themselves properly then they can prolong their careers, like Davo, who retired at 39 and only did so because of the injury he sustained. Balogun strikes me as a player who looks after himself properly. Now as much as I don't think we should have allowed Goldson to sign the contract offer that we made him, as it stood when we offered it to him in January last year, because he only signed it AFTER learning that NO TEAMS wanted him. It is my personal opinion that the club should have made him a lesser offer in the summer last year or told him to BOLT. The way he has played this season, he looks like a player who knows he is finishing at the club this summer. Having said that, statistically the best centre back partnership is Balogun and Goldson and as I said after the Dundee game, "rotation is all well and good BUT at the business end of the season you MUST put your strongest 11 on the park at the START of every game", once you go 3 or 4 up then you can give other players minutes on the park. If everyone was fit* (no laughing at the back now) my starting 11 would be from what we have available in the squad; :Butland, :Sterling (RB)**, Goldson (CB), Balogun (CB), Ridvan (LB), :Diomande (CM), Lundstrum (CM), Cantwell (No. 10 role), :Matondo (LW), Sima (RW) and Dessers (CF). But being Rangers we have 3 of those out injured so tomorrow I would start with; :Butland, :Taverneir (RB), Goldson (CB), Balogun (CB), Sterling (LB), :Diomande (CM), Lundstrum (CM), Cantwell (No. 10 role), :Silva*** (LW), McCausland (RW), Dessers (CF)). The objective is a WIN and then hopefully WIN by scoring a lot of goals but a WIN is the 1st and main objective. For those leaving at the end of this season they have the chance to leave a legacy of being treble winners or being known as serial losers who couldn't take the pressure. *I'm with you CJ, WTF is going on in our medical department? He has, for the most part, been rank rotten and I'm sick of him throwing himself to the ground when an opposition player even looks at him. However, we don't, as far as I know, have another option to play in that left wing role. Likewise Scott Wright, I like every Bear, wanted the lad to be a huge success but he has flattered to deceive.
