Hi Jean :) In the manual they do not mention a weight limit for the chicken, however I would keep in mind the size of the chicken. I made a 5.89lb whole chicken the first round and it just barely cleared the entrance into the oven and thankfully did not touch the heating coil at the top. Hope this helps :)

Hi I had the same problem. I discovered that the rack it’s just a little bit too narrow for the supports on the sides of the oven. I took the rack out to my workshop and laid it on the flat, smooth concrete upside down, and I gave it a little wrap with a hammer on all four corners, and this stretched the rack out just enough that it fit perfectly in the oven. A really simple fix my rack doesn’t fall out anymore under the weight of a heavy casserole dish.

I just got mine yesterday, and have used it like five times but no plastic smell. I read about that issue in some other Instant models and brands too, but not in mine fortunately.

The manual says to put it on bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes before using it. That’s supposed to cook off all that chemical smell

I bout mine from macys Sunday for $86.93

With me, it is the rack that is too narrow just on the front -- about 1/16 inch -- and continually falls off. I assume the rack is defective, but they refuse to replace it and you can't buy the racks separately. I love the oven and use it often, but the rack is a problem. I think those groves are too shallow. It's a design flaw (or I do have a defective rack!)

@@Wutevs4 Instant Pot took this critique seriously. First, they sent me a new rack in case I had a slightly defective rack -- in other words, a rack that was just shy a correct width by about 1/16 inch. Unfortunately, that did not work. They then, much to my surprise, sent me a completely new oven -- a slightly upgraded version that includes Proofing and a cooking thermometer. At first I thought the rack was going to work, but it still falls off. I am very careful to balance any slightly heavy dish, such as a pie or tart in the exact center. It's usually OK while cooking, but if you have to open the door and pull the dish out to stir something or to check doneness, the slightest off balance of weight on on side will make the rack fall down on one side.. If you are lucky, the dish is done enough by then that it doesn't ruin in. It would help if those projecting strips that are supposed to hold racks.They should project just a tad more -- and I mean a tiny bit more, and a rack probably would stay on, even with a little more weight on one side. As for us, I'm thinking of trying to wrap some wire around the rack on one side in the front and hope that will add enough width. Unless Instant Pot makes a slight design change, for people like me who cook seriously and who use it for tarts, pies, casseroles and not just french fries will have to work out their own ways to make the rack stay on in the front of the oven on one side. And thank you and congratulations to Instant Pot for trying so hard to solve my problem! I still love the oven.
