You can get a Kershaw Bel Air with a Magnucut blade, milled aluminum handle and made in the USA for 1/4th the price. Apparently making it artificially scarce make the knife worth 4 times as much.

They can't even lean on their "Well but our after purchase care is second to none" with that price because their after purchase care is second to CRK so why on earth would you go with a Benchmade and their tendency for shoddy quality control when you could get what is for many people a grail knife, known for excellent quality control and after purchase care?

Just to clarify. I own a few benchmade knives and I do like them. That being said, compared to the competition they won't make it much longer with those prices. I know there is a few die hard benchmade fans and I know there is people that will defend them in this case but realistically they seem to be getting left behind

I think we’re all seeing the company benchmade is. $600 for a griptilian with g10 is disgusting and why I only own 1 benchmade because it was a gift. I bought an American made Kershaw with aluminum scales and magnacut steel for $130

I used to buy Benchmades. I still have two 710's - one in D2 and the other in 154CM. The stickers on the boxes say 139.99... perfect example of why I no longer buy Benchmades.

They’re the number 1 American knife company in the world. I mean a couple of the multi tool companies do more revenue but the purely pocket knife companies they’re number 1 by a significant margin. Do you complain about all knife prices or just Benchmade ?

I see my responses to the Benchmade fanboys with deep pockets are being monitored and removed. If they can justify BM's outrageous prices, they can have them. Most others will look elsewhere. Kershaw Bel Air $159.99/whitemt. Kershaw Blur $124.99/bladehq. Kershaw Leek $135.99/amazon, Hogue Deka $139.46/knifecenter, etc, etc, etc.

I still have an original Benchmade 710 with 154CM, and the price on the label says $146.99. Now just a little over a decade later and they want over 4X that amount for the same design lmao I get it's a limited run and aren't going to be released forever but with a $600 price tag they can kick rocks.

Not only this, but for years I have been scared Benchmade over tempers high dollar alloys so you're paying more, without approaching the potential of the more expensive alloy! I'd feel so stupid paying more for just the spec of alloy

What's the point of having a clone. It's not the real thing and won't give you the same satisfaction owning it as a collector. If you want a knife to use, there're many other options with high quality from honorable sources. Buying clones supports criminals.

Man, if I were running Benchmade I'd think seriously about moving shop to a more business friendly location in the US. One can manufacture in the US for less overhead than whatever factors are putting upward pressure on their production costs in Oregon.

Those Masarin knives are very stylish pocket knives. They may be missing a pocket clip,but that makes them more comfortable in your hand and symmetrical looking.

Got my first benchmade a month or so ago. Got a Freek and it’s great! I paid just under 260 for it and I thought that was a bit steep. But the M4 steel is great! That said I just got a PM2 a few days ago for 199 and man does it feel like such a more premium/well put together knife. Still can’t get the blade centered on the Freek and the action feels better on the spyderco. Will not be buying another benchmade.

I have an original 710 and love it. Would love to have another but there is not a knife in Benchmades line that I would pay $600 for....and I love Benchmade knives! To me they have gotten too big for their pants. I called them a few times to make recommened changes that would make a knife better and was rudely told that they have professionals for that even though I spent 20 years in the Army, have hunted and processed my own game for 50 years now, and have carried and used a knife since I was 5 years old. They have also gotten into trying to make collectors knives instead of working knives.

When the redoubt came out, I was excited to get one, and I quickly realised that i hated almost everything about it. Blade had an uneven grind and was not sharp at all. The blade was a lot thinner than i thought it'd be. The handle felt cheap and rough on the inside of the blade channel. D2 was cool, but I'd hoped for something better like s35vn. Needless to say, at this point , I was very disappointed and promptly took back my first and last benchmade knife 2 days later and refunded it. Bought some lures and other fishing items with the refund and never wanted a benchmade again.

Reiff, please please please! Give us a version of the F5 (or both the F5 and S5) in 10V steel! It's surely tough enough for most bushcrafters/ hunters/ camp enthusiasts, but with much better edge retention. And it's still reasonably easy to touch up the edge in the field; especially in comparison to the exceptional edge retention steels in this category - namely 15V, Maxamet, etc. 10V is the perfect balance for knives of this size, design and purpose.

I have a question, is m390 obsolete as a premium or “super” steel? Also would you ever pick m390 over magnacut? M390’s slightly better edge is its only advantage. With magnacut being easier to sharpen, why ever choose m390 over it ?

That Case Folding Hunter is insanity. I love it. By far the best on the table. Benchmade is taking some serious drugs. They need price rehab NOW!

I haven’t tried a Reiff knife, they look interesting but I love my bark rivers and I think those are a little overpriced but they are hand ground and sharpened with there excellent saber height zero convex, it’s what makes them so good, that along with the hand shaped handles which I have yet to find a more comfortable handle, the white river Ursus 45 is almost there, and there fallkniven stacked leather handles are very very comfortable but talk about expensive,

The 710 looks great, but I wish there would be a more affordable option. It's hard to justify $600 for the value it has.

I love how BM pocket clips are cheaply painted garbage spring steel... it look refurbished as new... I thought the knife that started Benchmade was the bali? the axis lock is now the ONLY thing they can still say what made them great

Newer companies are doing those locks better with less time & experience on engineering & making them + with better lockup than benchmade

I have about 25 Benchmades and I really love their knives. I may never have 26. They’re free to price their knives as they wish, but sadly they are leaving me behind. They’re for the elite. Cool. Damn it.

I'm just now seriously looking at CRK, Spartan and Reate. Because if a good knife costs $500 now, I want an actually premium knife, not a regular work knife with manufactured scarcity.

That new Hogue rescue is awesome. I need to buy one to support them, great company. Just as good as Benchmade and about 2/3 the price for a comparable item most the time. Plus, family run.. not some big souless corp.
