From the Patreon post: "The cool part about the music inside the Build mode is that each track will have 2 different versions: one for daytime and another one for night time. As the player switches time of day the track versions will switch too to fit the different mood." So the day/night music is for build mode.

i like that they don't have a specific language. i feel like if they spoke a real language, it'd become really repetitive really fast hearing the same few conversations over and over

I actually enjoyed hearing those intense sounds! It differentiates this language from the traditional English accent in Simlish for example, and it sounds more like Latino languages like Portuguese, Spanish, but also reminds of Japanese! 🎉

@mimcris8481
@mimcris8481 Жыл бұрын
@@augusto7681 I was referring more to each syllable and open sounds. In Parli they use Ti Ki PeTe Ilu, etc, it's easy for us (latin-inspired-languages-users) to mimick it. It's more similar to how open each one is in Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese.(One of the reasons some people think japanese people and Brazilian speak so "loudly".) English has more muffled sounds and words which are not spoken the way they're written.

I’m from America and agree with you Satch. Other people groups should hear themselves. I love that international people are saying it sounds similar to their mother tongue. That’s exciting. I don’t necessarily have to hear myself as an English speaker. I also hope that more ethnic sounds are introduced to Paralives cuz even as a a Black woman from the States none of the Sims voices sound similar to my tongue. Which is a mix of broken southern and northern English. Basically slang is what I mean. Tbh Sims sound like they speak proper American English most of the time. 🤷🏾‍♀️

@@Tiny_Koi Yes in the States our accents vary heavily. You can go a couple cities over and hear something completely different. It’s very interesting! But yeah I don’t think most Americans hear themselves in the Sims either. It’s heavily dependent on the voice actors they used and where they’re from. But I don’t think Simlish accents is a thing really but I will say Sims do use utterances that are heavily similar to the American proper English language. Lots of hard “rs” lol.

They have a phonetics table!? oh that's so cool, that's how you know they're really taking this seriously, those things are super useful to really break down language and components of individual words. I had to use phonetics tables, specifically the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), in one of my elective linguistics courses and it really helped me in my Shakespearean course to break down the plays in ways I'd never considered before. This is all to say that there's so much underlying meaning you can discover using a phonetics table, I'm so impressed they're using one and showing it to us. Also for those who don't know, all of those words, labial-glottal and stops-liquids, indicate the precise movement and location used to produce the sounds; it's really in-depth.

Hi !! I’m French, yes « parler » is a real word it’s French for « to speak » 3:16 2:42 and you remember it from pirates of the Caribbean because « pourparler » is used and it means some sort of negotiations 3:19 And for the Verlan it’s kind of a slang we have, it consist in saying the words backwards, even the name Verlan is made of the word l’envers (which means backwards) by taking the 2 different syllabuses and switching them (l’en-vers -> vers-l’en but then changing a bit how you write it, it’s not about the orthography but more about the different sounds and pronunciation) 🥰

It's unique enough from simlish that I like it. I also like that kind of cel-shading thing they've got going. You can tell it's "The Sims but not" but, considering the stranglehold EA's had on the entire genre, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Honestly, I'm more interested in the differences from Sims than the similarities.

As a linguist, I love hearing the paralives language. It's definitely different from English phonetics, and that's what makes it unique! It's more... separate from other languages. They're doing a good job so far, and they're putting focus into EVERYone, not just English speakers. Much more immersive! *Edit: HOLD TF ON THEY HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL PHONETIC ALPHABET CHART???? they went crazy on this one I'm in love... And trust me. We laugh at "labial" too.

Indonesian here, this is not sounded like Indonesian to me lol. Too much tiki wiki while in our vocabularies, 'ki' is quite rare syllable, and it is not spoken like actual Indonesian accent lol. Since Indonesian uses combination of prefix and suffix to build words, many indonesian words are composed with prefix and suffix syllables, like me- (mə), pe- (pə), -an, etc, so those syllable will be very often to hear on Indonesian conversation. While -i is a valid suffix, it is used to build verbs, hence it is very rarely appears in the end of a sentences, let alone the rarity of 'ki' syllable ('ki' itself is not a valid suffix), like in the example conversation. The Paralives team should perhaps raise some volunteer among their supporters who has linguist background to help them build a gibberish, yet still logical language. I believe Simlish was also constructed in that manner before, although not as complex as other fantasy language like the Elvish languages or alien languages in Star Wars or Star Trek. 😆

I find Paralives to be a cozy game that I would like to play. I like the art style as well. I also prefer more of a gibberish sort of language. So, I can interpret things in my own way. I'm excited about Paralives and can't wait until I can play it! In LBY I do like the ability to hop from one character to the next almost instantly, and the skateboards are pretty cool. LBY is very in depth and customizable in many aspects (to the point of being able to edit coding) but that would stress me out more haha. I'm not really a fan of the art style (that could change but at this moment, I'm not a fan). Paralives seems more of the type of game people who just want to play and relax and make up stories and family trees. Back when Sims 2 was popular, this was the way alot of players I knew played the game (including myself). I know alot of Sims 4 players who also play this way (also me). LBY seems to be more for players who enjoy things like coding, animation, and machinima. Especially with how it's created to enable changes to the coding when you want.

ikr like the sims is based on majorly western America because that's where the game is being developed. I like developers like Paralives, Little Sim World, and Coral Island because those games set in other places than the U.S. because the developers realized that they had the skills and passion to create their own games and integrating their own culture into them. Sucks thinking that the sims cant provide that but at the same time they're not obligated to portray every single culture in the world.

I love it, I’m so excited for paralives. I really think it’s going to be a huge competitor to the sims franchise and even life by you. Life by you looks promising with everything that is said to come. But I think paralives has something special. I think it’s got it’s own gameplay style going. And for a successful game I feel like a game needs something that has its own signature. I feel like paralives has that going for it, so it’s most likely going to be successful. Where as life by you looks a bit messy, and like it doesn’t know what it exactly wants to be yet as far as having it’s own identity, where paralives feels like it does, even though it’s technically a sims game, if you put the two games side by side you can see their two different games.

They may as well speak English because they are making the same mistake as The Sims did. If you want a gibberish language then the words cannot have meaning - they have to be random. But by assigning meaning to the words, it became a language you just aren't fluent in. You then cannot imagine it means anything, but rather they are having the same boring conversations over and over again. They should be saying different things each time without any words precreated. Rather, they should be throwing random syllables out so that it sounds different every time and you cannot ingrain in your mind that a particular word means this or that. Gibberish must be incomprehensible.

The problem with Paralives is that they have a goaled timeline. How can you aim to ship a product with a launch date. I mean they can even give us what YEAR they aim for. When there’s no timeline there’s little chance of completion.
@fransmith3255
@fransmith3255 Жыл бұрын
Ummm... There is definitely NOT a defined timeline for Paralives release. They haven't even discussed a year of release, and that is COMPLETELY normal for this stage of development... And no timeline has NOTHING to do with the chance of completion. Most games that don't get completed are generally due to running out of money - nothing to do with timelines.

Inspired by French language? Welll I'm French and I don't see any similarities between what I've heard and French language, haha. As a linguistics enthusiast tough, I wonder if they created a proper grammar for this new language. Honestly, I would prefer to hear real languages than a language that could have been created by a 8-year-old, just adding up random sounds with no grammar at all. Idk, I don't *feel* like I can hear sentences when those Parafolks are talking...? Work in progress I guess.
